13 Acquiring A New Skill (Part 1)

This time around, Joshua didn't need to go through his own template in order to be sure since he could very well feel the benefits brought about by his stronger soul.

Not only could he now see clearer, both his senses of smell and hearing had also experienced a minor improvement. Even the coordination between his eyes and his various body parts such as his hands and legs were now smoother.

In other words, although his body constitution hadn't improved. His neural respond time had decrease and this lead to an increase in his both his body agility and reflex.

Performing a couple of punches, kicks, push up and yoga stretches as a method for a quick warm up. Joshua soon became satisfied with the changes he had undergone and yelled inwardly; "Amazing..... This feels amazing".

After toying around for about half an hour, Joshua was finally able to put a brake on his overflowing feeling of excitement and prepare for school by taking his bath and getting dressed, eating breakfast outside at the same nearby restaurant as usual before lastly hailing a carriage and heading to school.

Today, Joshua didn't run into Olivia at the school entrance as it seems like she was already waiting for him in the classroom.

Unfortunately, she was bound to be disappointed because Joshua had zero intention of attending classes today and instead, he went off towards the Skill Hall in order to choose any

single skill to learn.

Walking into the Skill Hall building which was a one story tall rectangular structure measuring around 50 metres in width and a 100 metres in length.

After stepping inside, Joshua remained on the ground floor and didn't bother climbing up since he knew that the upper floor mainly consisted of skills suitable only for Tamers of the Beast Master Realm and above to learn.

Speaking about skills, Joshua also knew that they were divided into different Tiers and that these Tiers were also further divided into four ranks which were; The Low, Mid, High and Peak Ranks.

In other words, the ground floor mainly consisted of Tier 1 skills while the upper floor mainly consisted of Tier 2 skills.

Skill books on the ground floor were all kept within a 5 segments wooden shelf and were protected by a runic diagram which prevented students in the Rank One Beast Apprentice Realm from retrieving them.

However, such a diagram didn't pose any problem for the current Joshua who was now a Rank Two Beast Apprentice Realm Tamer. And so, he quickly made his way towards a nearby shelf and randomly picked up one of the skill book placed on it to gloss at..

Similar to the template arrangement of his Sage Innate Skill, the first page of the skill book recorded the name, Tier, rank and description of the skill.

[Heighten senses]

Tier: One

Rank: Middle

Description: By manipulating the soul Power as.... User will experience a boost in all his or her five senses and this state can only be maintained for as long as possible until it user runs out of soul power. Note= Upon mastering of this skill, it user will be capable of also temporality boosting his or sixth sense.

"Wow...." such a marvelous skill, being able to temporarily boost even the fabel sixth sense when mastered. I might as well choose it if I can't find anything better" commented Joshua in low tone as he placed back the 'Heighten senses' skill book and randomly picked up another skill book.

[Imitation Barrier]

Rank: High

Description: By manipulating the soul Power as..... User will become capable of conjuring up an inferior version of the Soul Power Barrier Innate Skill formed of soul power that all Beast Master Realm Tamers naturally awaken upon reaching Rank Five. Note= Utilisation of the skill consumes a huge amount of soul power and will continue to do so every second the skill remains in effect.

After going through the second skill book, Joshua decided not to comment on it but rather shook his head as he returned it back to where he had taken it from before making up his mind to look though a couple more skill books before finally deciding on which one to learn.

Time quietly flew by and two hours later, Joshua now stood at the entrance of one of the practice room within the Skill Hall with two different skill book in his hands but with an indecisive feeling of which one to choose.

One of the skill books was that of the 'Heighten senses' skill while the other one was that of another skill he had later discovered hidden at the bottom segment of a wooden shelf located at an obscure corner of the Skill Hall and the nature of this second skill were as follows.

[Amplification]

Rank: High

Description: By manipulating the soul power as.... User will be capable of temporarily amplifying the overall capabilities of himself or herself or even that of his or her desired target. Note= Percentage of amplification is determined based on the comprehension level of its user.

After being thorn between this two skills for a short while, a decisive light flashed in Joshua's eyes and he immediately placed down the 'Heighten Senses' skill book on a nearby wooden shelf before finally walking into the practice room with only the 'Amplification' skill book in hand.

As for why Joshua had chosen to learn the 'Amplification' skill over the 'Heighten Senses' skill. He had two reasons for doing so, with the first one being the fact that 'Heighten Senses' can only be activated on himself whereas 'Amplification' can be used on both him and his Tamed Beast.

Then, his second reason for doing so was due to the fact that even though the 'Amplification' skill was only a Tier 1 skill, it was a skill which future prospects wouldn't be limited by it's Tier.

To put it in simple words, this was a skill deemed useful for even Beast Masters.

Shutting the door of the practice room after walking inside, Joshua silently observed the walls of this 5*5 metres wide room that was covered in multiple runic diagrams of which he didn't understand for a few minutes before proceeding to sit down on the floor at a corner of the room with his back against the wall and began studying about the skill book.

"By manipulating your soul power as a brush, use it to first draw the rune symbol for 'Increase', then 'Power' and lastly 'Aim' before connecting all three of them together using a three way axis to form a rudimentary level runic diagram for the 'Amplification' skill within your sea of consciousness".

"The skill can then be activated by pouring soul power into the runic diagram". Read Joshua out loud as he kept on studying the skill book for over half an hour before placing it down and begin following its words.
