Tales Eternal

After a traumatic meeting with god Leon Reinhart was granted the guardian angel system for his bravery. With the help of his system Leon tries to overcome his sad life filled with bullying and loneliness by trying to become a professional gamer in the recently released VRMMORPG called Tales Eternal. Tales Eternal was a unique game created in the image of the tabletop RPG called dungeon and dragon, instead of having a singular giant world the game has multiple worlds filled with 'tales' which are stories that the players have to complete in whatever way they want. Each tales affect their own world in some way, sometimes even affecting other worlds. As Leon goes from tale to tale to try and fix the broken worlds he slowly creates his own legend despite the mischief of the system.

Leon was breathing heavily, the sensation of the gun on his head and the sound of the gun firing was still present in his mind. A few people looked at him but none went in the back alley to help him.

He was barely able to go sit against a wall with what little strength he had left. It took him a few minutes to realize that he was still alive. Only the blue window that was floating in front of him existed as proof that he didn't just hallucinate everything.

" I... am alive. I really am alive. Ah-ahaha."

He started to laugh at himself. A torrent of unknown feeling were going through him but the one feeling that stood out the most was pride. Pride in knowing that even under such danger he could still make the right decision.

Suddenly the depression that he had felt mere minutes ago felt useless. Just like he had said to god there was a reason why he had endured all that suffering. He wanted to be happy so he would fight with everything he had to achieve that.

After calming down he looked at the blue window in front of him more closely.

[ You have completed the mission 'A world for my life', as a reward you have been given the guardian angel system by God.

You have received the gift of a benevolent watcher, a one-time use elixir of the chosen one.

The main use of the guardian angel system is to track your journey in order to entertain God. Since he wishes to see you succeed I will help you grow in exchange for completing certain challenges known as missions.

Failing in missions might result in penalties however it will never result in you losing the system. If, however, you do something inexcusable god himself might take back everything he has given you.]

It was a weird feeling to know that god was now watching him personally however Leon wasn't worried. He didn't know what this system was but if he lost it it would only mean that he would go back to being someone normal.

' It's not like my personality is an act anyway, I am who I am whether people are watching me or not.'

There was a pressure on him, that much was true, but in the end it was better to not care. He wasn't perfect so there was no guarantee that he would keep this system yet he still decided to study it for now.

He was trying not to think about his recent near death experience as he focused on the floating windows. He could navigate through them with simple thoughts, it was quite convenient to use. The main page was also rather simple

He instantly noticed the stat window and the inventory, this system really felt like a game system more than a guardian angel. With this thought he opened his stats, he was curious to see how well he was doing.

[ Name: Leon Reinhart Race: human

Sex: Male Age: 16 years old

Body condition: lightly injured, growth hindered Mental condition: Good, excited for the future, curious, exhausted.

Strength: 8 Dexterity: 12

Agility: 10 Constitution: 8 ( 1 message)

Intelligence: 19 Wisdom: 20

Charisma: 9 ( 1 message) Luck: 8]

Apart from his intelligence and wisdom everything seemed incredibly low. He had been secretly proud of his face, thinking he had been a bit handsome, but this was a harsh return to reality for him.

' It's a bit early to be disappointed, there is a message in there so maybe...'

He opened both of the messages on there at the same time with a bit of hope.

[ Constitution warning: due to a slight malnutrition problem during childhood as well as early injuries that didn't heal properly your growth has been hindered, affecting your overall health which highly affect the constitution stat. Consuming the elixir of the chosen one is highly recommended to fix this problem.

Current charisma condition: Disheveled, dirty clothes, trace of a footprint on the left side of the face, multiple injuries, boring clothes. Charisma modifier is -4]

What happened with Connor felt like it had happened an eternity ago. He had honestly forgotten how he had arrived here after the reveal of God's existence as well as his threat to destroy the world.

He opened the camera of his phone to look at himself and, sure enough, he was in a pretty bad condition. It made sense that it would affect his charisma.

' I should probably get home for now. I think I deserve to skip school for one day after everything that happened.'

He had been here for quite a bit of time so his body had slightly recovered from what just happened. He stretched a bit as he made his way back. His parents both worked during the day so he didn't have to worry about them being there.

Once he was inside he took a quick shower before fixing himself up. He brushed his hair and put on his favorite clothes, after all that he looked at his charisma again. This time the number had gone up to 11 with only two comments, too many injuries and boring clothes.

' Are you trying to make fun of my clothes or something god?'

Leon looked down at himself, he was wearing a plain black shirt along with a pair of gray sweatpants. It was dull but since they were comfortable Leon loved them. He gave up on his charisma stat for now, he had no idea if it was even low or not in the first place.

' Well, if I had to guess 10 would be the average number for an adult so 11 is already pretty good.'

He convinced himself as he went to his room to look at the elixir he received.

[ Elixir of the chosen one:

A miraculous liquid formed directly in heaven and given only to those that god deemed worthy. By drinking this elixir any disease or injury apart from lost limbs or lost organs will be healed.

You will also gain the grace fitting for a missionary of god, granting you +4 charisma along with +2 to all other stats.]

Honestly Leon couldn't understand how a liquid could do so much but then again he also couldn't understand the existence of god. With just a simple thought a clear bottle filled with a golden liquid appeared in his hand.

The liquid looked so beautiful that it almost seemed like a waste to drink it, almost. Leon only spent a few seconds to admire it before chugging it down. It tasted a bit like honey with a mysterious aftertaste that left him wanting for more.

It was the most delicious thing he had ever tasted but he couldn't enjoy it for long. His body started to heat up. Soon it felt like he was in the middle of a powerful fire yet there was no sensation of burning. He could feel his body slowly getting stronger.

His bones realigned themselves along with his muscles, getting rid of pains that he didn't even knew he had. It felt quite literally out of this world. In just a minute the elixir had done it's work as the heat disappeared as if it was never there to begin with.

Leon took a few moments to move around, he felt like an entirely new person. He also felt like he was slightly taller now which was probably related to his bones realigning themselves. He could only be impressed by the effect of the elixir. He quickly decided to look at his stats one more time.

[ Name: Leon Reinhart Race: human

Sex: Male Age: 16 years old

Body condition: In perfect health, growing Mental condition: Excited, happy.

Strength: 11 Dexterity: 15

Agility: 12 Constitution: 13

Intelligence: 21 Wisdom: 22

Charisma: 16 Luck: 10]

Every stat that was related to his body gained more than they were supposed to but he didn't have to think too hard as to why. Now that all of his injuries were gone he finally realized that his body had been in a really bad condition.

It made sense that a healthy body was stronger. He sighed at how unlucky he had been until now but he was still happy about the results.

' I still need to look at the two shops but first lets see the message in the mission board.'

As he opened the menu the message appeared by itself.

[ Welcome to the mission board. These missions are aimed at helping you grow while entertaining God. To give you an idea of what to expect I have prepared a tutorial mission that you can refuse.

Do you wish to accept the mission?]

The system had mentioned that those missions were to help him grow so it would have been stupid for Leon to refuse.

' I accept.'

He answered in his mind which caused another window to appear.

[ Tutorial mission: Complete a system objective with one of the skill in the skill shop. For the sake of the mission your first skill will be free.

If you fail to reach the objective the skill that you received will be taken back. If you succeed you will gain a minor upgrade to the skill you chose.]
