32 - Kill or Be Killed

A vicious smile appeared on Darius's face. The red energy that was coming off from his body kept being released more and more. It was interesting to look at… and Lucian knew exactly what that skill was. He had looked at it before they had even entered the portal for the first trial.

[Blood Aura(Heroic): While Activated, a red aura surrounds you. It enhances your stats for 2 minutes. In exchange for those bonus stats… you lose your mind, killing everything that you see.]

'I wonder how crazy he's going to become…'

Lucian knew there wasn't too much danger since Alex, their savior, was right beside him… And there was no way he would be losing him.

"Kekeke! And why should I care if you guys can see it?"

Lucian was smiling from ear to ear. This was the perfect situation unfolding. The fact that he had used his skill meant he had made a choice. Darius had decided to reveal his true self… his weird little giggle made it even clearer.

"Leo, Paul…no need to act anymore. Let's kill those three. We delayed it long enough."

Lucian could finally relax for a few seconds once again. Them revealing themselves made things simpler and would make the people in this room actually trust him.

'Though the other problem… is that motor. We need to finish fixing it before the timer ends, or else… well, me and Ava would have won. As for Alex, who knows what might happen to him…'

However, it meant something since Alex hadn't tried anything on them after they had both revealed they were impostors. There were good chances that Alex could potentially win with the impostors with that special role of his.

Leo and Paul, who were Darius's two friends, stopped working on the motor as they slowly stood up. As if they were literal robots, each made their respective weapons appear.

Darius had a giant scythe. Leo had a sword, and Paul had a spear.

"What's happening to them?!"

"Are they trying to kill them?"

"Why would they do that?"

All those fixing the motor started to panic, unsure of what they needed to do. They were in a big dilemma… on the one hand, they could help kill those three. However… if they did so and didn't complete the reparations of the spaceship motor, they would have failed to complete the first trial.

Lucian had noticed the hesitation coming from many. However, he knew there was no need for help.

"Just keep working on the motor. The three of us will take care of it."

Lucian included himself in that number as he knew it wouldn't be doing much, being protected by his two useful allies.

Ava and Lucian slowly moved away from the motor, joining Alex. The two trios kept looking at one another with great interest. Lucian was facing Paul, Ava was facing Leo, and Alex was facing Darius.

Lucian knew it wasn't really match-ups since Alex would probably get rid of Darius in less than a second, but it was still fun that they each had their opponents to face.

Lucian looked at the timer until the vote one last time, wanting to know how much time they had until the vote.

[00:45]

'Who knows, I might really be able to get the hidden rewards from killing all normal participants.'

He hoped he would, at least, especially if he had the help of Ava and Alex. It would make it extremely easy.

Lucian's dagger appeared, Ava's wand appeared, and finally… Alex's Excalibur appeared.

His sword was shining extremely brightly, making everyone in the room notice it. Most turned around. However, the few worried ones kept working on the motor. Every few seconds, they would look at the percentage of the almost-fixed motor, which made them relax a little.

The percentage currently shown was [95%]. There was only 5% left…but there was also only thirty seconds left.

"30 seconds, kekeke! Should be just enough time!"

Darius was as confident as ever, immediately dashed forward with his scythe…aiming directly for Alex's head. However, Alex was nowhere near where he attacked, completely dodging the attack.

"Behind you," Alex muttered.

Darius tried to glance behind him, but before he could even try to… his head was cut off.

While that happened, Leo and Paul also tried attacking Ava and Lucian. However, a purple cage formed with purple threads around them before they could even move the slightest muscle.

'That cage…again?'

Lucian remembered seeing it when Ava had killed Trevor in under a few seconds. It had been brutal. The more he thought about it, the more he understood how easy it was for her to use magic. He remembered seeing one of her talents being related to it. But this was simply next level.

"What is this?!" The two of them shouted as they saw it appear.

Lucian glanced at Ava and realized that her switch had been turned on. Her eyes had switched to being hollow without the slightest emotion contained within them.

Ava's vicious smile appeared as she looked at the two of them. "Oh, this… this is because you tried to hurt him. You need to pay."

As she uttered those words, the purple threads forming the box started getting closer to them. She had decided to take her time with them, it seemed.

"Please, let us go!"

"We never wanted to do this in the first place!"

"H-He was the one that forced us!"

The two of them tried to argue as much as they could… but it was useless. The threads were about to reach them.

Those fixing the motor couldn't look at what was happening behind them. It was too much for them…

They started hearing the sound of their bones breaking one by one… blood was beginning to come out of their body and forming one big red pool of blood that was slowly spreading onto the ground.

And a few moments later… they were dead, their body on the ground.

Ava had two system messages, while Alex had one.

[You have killed Darius Khaid. He was an impostor. You have obtained a portion of his stats.]

[You have killed Leo Porter and Paul Carter. They were normal participants. You have obtained a portion of their stats.]

Nature was with them. It seemed as if Ava was the one who had killed the normal participants, resulting in no one getting any consequences from those kills.

He wasn't able to see those things. However, if he had… he certainly would have been interested in it… Killing people in the Otherworld would make it possible to get stronger. It certainly was something interesting.

However… Lucian had no idea as he looked at the status of the motor, and the others had done it from the looks of it.

[100%]

Then, he looked at the timer, and it seemed that it was time to have another vote.

'Ah, shit… the vote, forgot about that part.'
