Selena Vs Alexander

"Wait! What!?" Selena exclaimed in disbelief, she was already up next and to make it even worse she was up against a commoner hating noble.

Rai was a bit taken aback, no matter the coincidence it was too soon given Selena had just managed to overcome her fears. Alexander had already taken his place on the arena, he was a bit overconfident given who he was up against.

"Miss Selena?" Ford said as they all awaited the arrival of Alexander's opponent on the arena. She became a bit nervous as she stood to her feet.

"Don't worry, he might be more skilled than you in every way but you have something he doesn't." Rai said trying to comfort her.

"And what's that?" Selena inquired, trying to understand what attributes that she possessed that Alexander didn't which gives her an edge over him.

"Guts." Rai stated simply as he smiled.

"Now get out there and defeat him, I know you'll be able to do it. Just believe in yourself." Selena felt at ease after hearing the advice of Rai as well as his encouragements. With those few words of advice, Selena nodded in affirmation to his words and went out towards the arena.

As she took her place on the arena, laughter could be heard from within the spectators. "Does that vermin truly believe that she'll be able to defeat Alexander? Ha! How insolent!" One of the nobles commented on the current match up.

Alexander scoffed, expressing his disappointment with the match-making procedures. "I must admit, I feel insulted and downgraded being fixed in a match with a mere commoner. It is utterly unacceptable, however this disappointment has proved to be an opportunity."

"With both contestants ready, let the match begin!" Ford shouted, declaring the start of the second matchup.

Alexander began approaching Selena with little steps in order to delay and grant her some time, by doing so he gave her time to strategize and plan out her course of action. What he tried to achieve by doing this, was total humiliation.

"I'll show you all! Why a commoner will never be allowed in an exam with such high importance such as this. "Alexander added.

He stretched his right hand at her as he said softly. "Ice Essence: Blizzard Storm." As he uttered and activated one of his abilities, a huge dark cloud hovered above the whole arena.

"What is this!?" Ford exclaimed.

For an ability to occupy a large space such as the colosseum itself, the user of the technique possessed incredible essence pool and level.

"Try not to die, it'll be less fun that way." As he said, countless ice shards began descending upon the middle section of the arena where Selena stood in.

Most of the ice shards were all targeted at the head of Selena who placed her hands on the ground swiftly.

The continuous raining of Ice shards caused a huge cloud of dust to arise and engulf the battleground directly above where Selena stood in. As the dust cleared, flashes of lightning could be seen.

"Oh?" Alexander uttered as his eyes were laid upon a small dome which shielded Selena from the multiple shards that descended upon her. The dome dissipated and Selena stared directly at Alexander. "Is that all you got?" She spoke, making it sound like his attack were nothing but child's play.

Selena swiftly placed her two hands on the ground yet again and two semi large circles materialized out of thin air at both her sides. Two huge humanoid beasts transmuted out of the ground, emerged from the circle.

"What!?" One of the nobles exclaimed in shock. The Alchemy type essence is considered one of the most usual essence type that a noble such as Ford can attain. Coming across a commoner that possessed that essence type was a rare occurrence.

The two humanoid beasts rushed forward at Alexander who chuckled before stretching out his hand. "Don't make me laugh, Ice essence: Ice construct!" Alexander exclaimed, cold energy gathered into his right palm. It assumed the shape of a sword and solidified.

With considerable speed applied, Alexander swiftly severed the heads of the two humanoid beasts with little to no difficulty. Selena eyes widened a bit, she never expected that her transmutations would be taken out so easily.

Before Selena's hand could make contact with the ground, Alexander dashed forward towards her and grabbed her by the neck before lifting her off her feet. "How insolent." He said simply.

He launched her by her neck into the ground, she started coughing out saliva due to the impact her back made with the ground.

With one final thrust, Alexander picked up Selena yet again and threw her backwards into the ground. The nobles laughed, the fight had hardly began yet Selena was being used as a punching bag. "Such wasted essence type, it is a shame that the Alchemy essence type had to fall under the filthy hands of a commoner." Alexander murmured as he attempted to plough through her once and for all.

"Hahahaha, that commoner is as good as finished. She is so naive if she ever thought she had a chance of winning." One of the nobles said.

"Are you willing to bet your life on that?" Rai retaliated quickly.

"What?" The noble replied in shock.

"Just who do you think you are talking to you street rat?" He added.

"Time after time in this exams, we commoners have defied our standings, overcome our fears and even got recognized by the princess. Do not test our ability to mop the floor with you nobles." Rai said ignoring his remarks.

"Hey!" The other nobles shouted in disagreement to the words of Rai who remained quiet thereafter. There was only one way to beat a noble and it wasn't by mouth.

"Come on Selena! I know you have what it takes to defeat him! Just dig deep and find a way!" Rai exclaimed from his seat, Alexander could only laugh at his words as he found it very amusing that Rai assumed she could beat him if she tried harder.

"Invalid encouragement is absurd, flooding her head with lies and clouding the actual concept of reality in her head is the worst thing you can-" Alexander was interrupted and taken aback by a swift and powerful blow across his cheeks by the right hand of Selena which was covered by a stone gauntlet.

"A clean hit! A clean hit! Selena has successfully landed a blow!" Ford exclaimed as the tides of the battle had changed.
