19 Volume 1.18 Awakening (3)

Myrene blinked her eyes, she found herself once again back inside the arena.

"She has dark magic." She turned around when the middle cloaked man announced.

'Dark magic? I saw that I have wind and fire attributes too.' Myrene continued to observe the adults.

"Does she only have one attribute?" Frayah said with a disappointed voice. "Her brother has both wind and dark magic? Did you not make any mistake?"

"You have seen it yourself that the orb only glowed with black light." The middle cloaked man said.

Myrene glanced to her left index finger where a golden ring was already there. 'Did this ring conceal my other two attributes? But I didn't... Ah, that must be what she meant to conceal things at my will. I guess it is better to have more things hidden under my sleeves. It must be hard for a goddess who wanted the destruction of my kind to even give me a gift.'

Frayah glanced at Myrene, her disappointed face turned into delight. "Well, if that is the case, we can't do anything about that but to train her further. As her mother, I must accept whatever the capabilities of my child, wholeheartedly. And she inherited the magic of her father which is already good. Let's proceed to check the level of her dark magic."

The middle cloaked man gestured to the right cloaked man beside him. He walked forward towards Myrene.

"Your highness," He presented a scroll in front of Myrene. "Please exert some of your mana to this scroll. Just think of the air circulating inside you and breathe it out towards the scroll."

Myrene held the scroll in her hands and did what she was told to do. 'The air he was talking about, must be my mana. From the books I've read, mana is akin to oxygen for mages, without it, using magic will be impossible for them.' Myrene closed her eyes, and saw three glowing lights, green, red and black. Like an air that was exhaled out.

Myrene inhaled and exhaled, when she opened her eyes, the scroll was glowing with the three colors simultaneously.

Myrene opened the scroll and all her magic was at level ten. 'Level ten. That is the below average mage here. From what Ares taught me before, the normal average level that the children of the demon lord get was level 20. If I remember vaguely the hero was around a nine hundred level and the demon lord as well that was nearly the thousand level. What a monster, those two.'

"Your highness, may I have the scroll to see your results?"

'Will they see the other level of my attributes as well?' Myrene gave the scroll to the cloaked man without saying a word.

"She is level 10 dark mage." The cloaked man announced with a tinge of disappointment in his voice. It seemed the other two cloaked men lost their interest at Myrene as well. Nevertheless they remained polite.

"Now your highness, for your naming ceremony. Let us begin the test." The middle cloaked man said.

Myrene stiffened when Frayah touched both her shoulders. 'When did she get closer to me?' Frayah leaned closer to her and whispered. "What a disappointment, my daughter. Your brother is level 37 and has a dual attribute. However, like I said before, as your mother, I should accept you for who you are."

Myrene silently clenched her fist. She couldn't stomach how this woman could call her daughter. Frayah went on despite noticing Myrene's displeasure.

"Even if you are a disappointment, since you have his blood. There can still be plenty of use for you."

That was when Frayah let her go and walked away. "I wished you good will for your naming ceremony." She headed to the upper seats of the arena. And Myrene noticed that the other cloaked people were also not in the arena already. They were beside Frayah.

Only Ares remained. He was standing in front of her as his green eyes glinted.

"For your naming ceremony. Defeat the High Ogre King." The middle cloaked man declared.

Myrene's eyes widened as Ares bowed down to her. Then the familiar ominous aura he released from time to time. It was heavier and pressuring this time. *Cough! *Cough! Myrene wiped out her mouth and there was clear crimson blood in it. But that was not her concern right now.

"Ares!" She gritted her teeth. 'Please don't tell me...'

Ares started morphing, his clothes were torn and he gained more muscles as he grew taller and taller.

"And when he say defeat, kill him or you will be the one who will get killed my daughter." Frayah's ominous voice resounded through the arena. "But your brother also passed this test successful. So please win my daughter and if you do, I might tell you as well the one he needed to kill when he passed this test." Her cackle sounded like a curse to anyone's ears.

Myrene brought out her daggers as she looked at Ares who now changed into the ogre that knocked her out before. Ares let out a thunderous roar. It echoed through the arena and without detail, it's eyes locked towards Myrene.

"Damn!" Myrene gritted her teeth. She could still taste the metallic taste of blood she coughed earlier. "Damn this all!" She positioned herself in a fighting stance as Ares dashed towards her.
