1 Chapter one: a stranger in the dark

One would think that I would use common sense while walking home at night. I guess I'm not one of those people,but I'll be fine. As I'm walking down the block I sense there is someone walking behind me, I turn to look behind me and there isn't anyone there. I started walking again when I started to get the feeling that I was being watch so i sped up a little bit in order to get into my apartment faster, as I turned onto my block I look behind me and see the shadowy figure running towards me so I sprint into my apartment and I lock my door. I walked over to my couch and sat down, I frantically pulled out my phone and dialed 911 the operator she answered on the third ring,

" 911 what's your emergency,"she said in a monotonous voice.

"Hello There was a shadowy figure that was chasing me down the block and I luckily made it to my apartment,I was wondering if I could get an officer to come to my house to check it out?" I said in a frightened voice.

"Of course we will have an officer on the scene in about fifteen minutes". She said.

"Thanks",I said and disconnected the call. I sat there in silence wondering who could have been the shadowy figure. The first thought I had was maybe it was my ex-girlfriend Caitlyn Stone, but then how could she be the one she is living in California. There was a loud pounding at my door so I went over to it. "Who is it? I said.

"It's Officer Francisco of the NYPD"he said.

I walked over to the door and unlocked the deadbolt, I gestured for him to come in "would you like something to eat or drink sir," I asked.

"No thank you" he responded.

I sat down in front of him and he leaned forward a little and asked, "did you see the person who was chasing you"?

"No, obviously not, how could I have seen them? I described them as a shadowy figure." I said sarcastically.

"Ok I'm going to go check out the perimeter of the apartment I'll be back shortly". He walked out the door and the next thing I heard was a giant crash.then a giant wolf was standing in my kitchen. I stared into its giant green eyes,its eyes were human, I jumped back startled and ran for the katana I keep on the wall as decoration. That's when I noticed that there was blood on its jaw. I unsheathed the katana and held it in front of me. "Don't you dare move", I said, trying to sound intimidating. The wolf stepped forward and walked up towards

me. A green glow started emanating around the wolf . I started to wonder where it was coming from and then a human man appeared where the wolf once was.

He walked over to me and all he said was

"Hello my name is Silas".

I felt my heartbeat start to pick up and the next thing I know everything is completely black.

When I opened my eyes I am on my couch but my sword is gone and my first rational thought is maybe it was a dream.I sit up and immediately realize my dream is a reality because there is a man with those bright green eyes sitting on my couch.

"Good morning sunshine". He says.

"What are you".? I ask.

"What do you think I am". He asks.

"Stop turning my questions into more questions this isn't therapy give me a straight answer or get the fuck out of my house". I said angrily.

"Ooooh feisty, we will start at the beginning, You are a princess". He said, matter-of-factly.

"I am what"? I audibly gasped. Then I took a second to process what he just said.

"You heard what I said are the princess and future leader of the forest clan" he stated like he wasn't completely overturning my life.

"What is the forest clan"? I asked.

He gave a little pause and then he started speaking.

" The world is much bigger than you think,there are clans of beings that are able to use the abilities entitled to their clan. The first and most powerful is the celestial clan, they are responsible for new technological advances in the human world, and they are responsible for many things like aerospace travel. Many of their powers are still unknown to us. The ones that are known are star travel and navigation, the manipulation of starlight and the ability to shift into creatures of the night." He took a breath and then started again.

"The second most powerful is the forest clan which is the clan you and I hail from. The forest forest Clan is the second most powerful clan because we are able to control the forest flora and fauna and we can even turn into the creatures of the forest.Our leader, your dad has been leader of our clan for the past three hundred years and it is almost time for him to resign and he has no heirs aside from you."

"The third is the Dusk clan and they bend shadows to their will. They are able to create and mold their shadows to fit their needs . They even can transform into shadows which makes them very good spies but also very dangerous. They can also form shadows into solid matter like shields and barriers."

"Any questions"? He asked.

I took a second to process what he just revealed to me. My first thought was that he has to be lying to me or that this was one giant joke. I was honestly waiting for those damn cameras to come out. Then I realized that he couldn't be lying to me about this . I knew that because he transformed from wolf to human right in my kitchen. "How do you know that your leader is my father"? I said.
