65 Chapter 65: Instincts and Rage... Mental Instability?

"Korven."

[Yeah?]

"Where did the... did HE go?"

[Said something about trying to not be a total liar or something, said he'd be back soon.]

Avaya froze, the strange sense of comfort the seemingly unstable beast gave her from her fears of the Lycan fading and leaving a rising panic.

"H-he just left?"

Korven flicked his tail, sparing a glance.

[Calm yourself, my Lady of the Forest. He asked your birds of the territories of the Lycan before he left... he's not the type to make empty promises. He said your domain would be safe and secure, and it shall.]

"...you almost sound like you're a part of his territory . Does he even have one?"

[If he is a Lord Beast, then he is a nomadic one. But things such as territories, Lord Beasts, all seem sort of irrelevant to him. He lives, he flies, he walks and he talks. He's alive, and he lives his life. I simply admire the power he holds, and have no direction.]

"...do you know something I don't? Speak!"

Korven turned his head slightly, and an ear raised in amusement. Here he was, a raccoon on the beginning of his path to becoming a true magical beast, and a Lord Beast was speaking as though they were equal.

What was that Serpent to instinctively make anyone with decent senses feel as though he towers above them all? Merely by association Korven was now considered as an equal in this conversation!

At least... to an extent.

[I want to see what that hatchling will do. What sort of being will he become, I wonder? A king of beasts, a monster, a savior? I've seen enough to know it'll be more than ordinary at the least.]

~ ~ ~

This is fucking stupid.

This whole thing. Every bit of it.

I have these smelly human jackasses trying to ambush me?

'What the fuck?'

This is... SOOOO dumb.

Like sure. Being downwind makes you harder to smell.

But I'm a fucking light-awakened dragon! My senses are way stronger! Being downwind doesn't do jack-shit!

Just because I reach out to humans and such to facilitate social interaction for my sanity and have now taken steps towards...

You know, I actually have no fucking clue what I was about to say.

Goddamn I'm tired.

I'm gonna have to fight these humans aren't I.

My body is too long and I haven't figured out how to fly using this snake-like form yet.

Okay. So I have senses, and... flexibility thanks to water and light.

...actually what does darkness fusion do?

I haven't noticed jack-shit to be honest.

Fuck it, I'll keep fusing more darkness into myself until a change becomes obvious.

For now...

...

Hey! How do I fight? Should I cast my overpowered magic, like just nuke everything?

I mean this is a rare chance to actually test myself against foes that are closer to me on a physical level. Should I take advantage?

Oh wait one of the humans are moving.

'And I know they're definitely human... ugh. No other race quite smells like THAT.'

I looked as a man stepped out from a rock-

'Wait! You're that spear-wielding bandit bastard who hurt me after killing my mom!'

...has this asshole been HUNTING ME?!

Rage and indignation were fuel to me, as my claws flexed.

Oh fuck no.

I am a dragon. D-R-A-G-O-N. Not JUST a dragon, but one who is worshipped as a god, owns my own whole-ass dimension right now, and am LITERALLY holding souls.

I am NOT an ANIMAL to be HUNTED!

This man is going to die screaming as I TEAR HIS HEART OUT OF HIS RIBCAGE WITH MY FUCKING TEETH!

"You look... unhealthy." He frowned. "Your not a fire dragon... you're all wrong. But the marker Selvieenlth left can't be faked."

[...human.]

He stepped back, surprise flirting across his face.

[I don't care who you are. I could guess, sure. Maybe you're just a mercenary or a branch of a land that wanted to use my mother's corpse to build a weapon for this war between Revan and the Saxon's or whatever they are.]

"We are of the Sattix Tribes, not Saxon!"

[I. Don't. Care. You could have left it alone. I would have forgotten, and all would be well.]

~ ~ ~

The men began to step out all around the dragon in the center.

"Quite an arrogant hatchling, isn't it boss?"

"Let's just kill it and take its bones already."

"Hey I want to use that leather from it's wings!"

The leader seemed to have a more cautious look at how intelligent sounding the beast was.

"Don't underesti-"

The 3 men who'd been leaguing complacently while holding crossbows imbued with runes simply burnt to ash.

No fanfare.

No bursts of flame really.

They just disintegrated from the inside out into ash, with small cinders of indigo flame lingering for a moment.

He turned back to the dragon belatedly, raising his spear with its green glow, only to see jaws wide open as it lunges at him like a leaping viper!

"HAH!" He smacked at it with the body of his spear, knocking it aside!

'Dumb animals! Even able to speak, you cannot use weapons!'

And then the serpentine body flexed as an ocean-blue light shimmered through it, even as the dragon's head flew by, his body wrapped around the bandit leader like a python!

The rest of the men had barely caught up to events!

"Wha..."

"GO! Attack the monster!"

Inside the coils, the man screamed in pain!

The claws of the beast dig into his flesh and tore even as the coils tightened!

[I believe you arrogant two-legs say that beasts have nothing but brute strength, yes?]

A voice seethed in so much rage and indignation, with pride and predatory instinct that felt insulted!

It almost tore into the minds of all who heard it, like mental claws to match the physical ones that had already torn off his right arm by ripping apart his shoulder and ripped his rib cage apart, as fluids not altogether red were beginning to flood out.

The coils became tighter as the claws stopped tearing and instead gripped the torn flesh tightly!

A surge of red and heat flowed through the monster's body, and the force crushing the man intensified!

"AH!"

*Crunch*

"Geh... grrrge-kekeke-gleke..."

In the horrified silence, small gurgling noises came as blood leaked from his mouth, his head all that was visible to his men, who stared in horror.

The head poking out, gurgling on its own blood.

The coils wrapped around him.

And the jets of blood that had shot out between the coils, like a crushed juice box.

The body stopped constricting, and a mangled mess of pulpy flesh and bone fell out, with bits of gore and even bone stuck to the fur of the beast.

The eyes.

Those eyes.

The men turned and ran.

[YOU WILL NOT ESCAPE MY WRATH! YOU WILL DIE SCREAMING, JUST LIKE HE DID!]
