Tainted Truths

‘Burning....’ She kicked and thrashed until the blanket fell from her bed, long black hair matted to her forehead and neck as she spread out on her bed, seeking some sort of relief from the burning that was happening within her body.... ‘I...I am burning...’ She squeezed her eyes shut as she felt every cell in her body shaking, She tried to stay within the realm of dreams as her body continued to burn her... ‘ Fire...Everything around me must be burning...’ The flames engulfed her room. Bright red and orange morphed to hues of green and blue as delirium took her mind to wondrous imaginations... she grasped at pleasant dreams and memories as the fever within her body physically presented itself in the form rare and exotic colors that seamed to burst from her body and dance around her... whispers of images and memories danced within the colorful swirling flames.... ‘Is this hell?’ She was clammy, hot, unbearably uncomfortable... her clothes were burned away from her body that was physically shaking as she started to whimper aloud... ‘Have I come to hell?’ Her cellular shaking was beginning to burn her joints and her bones... she could feel them tearing apart thread by thread... She could feel every fiber of her being ... it felt as if a dull hot blade were cutting her layer by layer...fiber by fiber stretching... ‘Is this how it feels to be torn apart?’ Every nerve tingling with raw energy, shaking, creating more friction within her body; making it burn even more... Her heart was pumping so fast it felt as though it would burst out of her chest at any moment. The new pace was bruising her sternum, making the now golden eyed girl gasp for air as it was sucked out of her room- her windows shattered to give her the fresh air she needed. ‘It...hurts...’ Her chest constricted as her body refused to obey her commands, she wasn't even aware of what she was commanding her body to do... she could hear screaming, thumps and thuds... but she could not make out anything else... she could feel a thunderous shaking rumbling from her bruised chest... ‘Make it stop...’ Everything hurt....everything felt unbearably sore...everything felt too real to be real... Part of her wondered if the burning fever drove her mad as it hurt too much to produce a coherent thought... ‘Is this... how I die?...’ She screamed as painful convulsions ripped through her battered body. The burning came back tenfold and she felt the air leave her body as she gave into the smothering darkness... “Wake up young one...” A mystical melodic voice whispered from within the darkness... “It is time.... To Wake!”

Lost in a Dream

Alexander watched the monitors beep. He listened to his sons labored breathing.

Bring forced to take some "much needed time off."

He scoffed at the thought, finding any reason not to look at the bandage that rested on the left side of his head.

"The damage is severe, had we got gotten to him when he did, your son would not have a good portion of his brain." - the doctor had said.

In the boys place he saw the dying mother cradling her dead infant…

The dead infant with the indenture on the left side of his head.

The dead infant whose brain was destroyed as the mother fought to keep him in this world.

Alexander watched her inhuman blue eyes… surrounded by black… much like the girl in the tank.

Her hateful gaze held onto his…

'No… it was my father who killed your baby.'

'And yet you continue his work… a curse on your blood…'

Alexander took a blind step back as the woman reached for him.

'In my last hou I leave this dower…'

Alexander shook his head in denial.. it wasn't has fault. Why is this spirit haunting him?! 'The life of you blood shall suffer in power.'

Fury.

It was a burning hot sensation that singed her chest with every inhale of air that she took.

Her lungs felt flaming hot, as if fire would come from her mouth were she to open it.

She felt like her body was trembling.

Dead.

She was dead.

The air completely left her body to be replaced with this unbearable heavy feeling that brought her to her knees. Before she could let the heavy feeling consume her, a fresh panic. Ice cold fingers wrapped tight around her heart and held fast as she ran to what looked like a nest.

In the nest, she saw an egg, a golden brown egg almost the size of her shin.... it had a gaping crack on top of it. There was a second egg that was completely shattered. The fingers on her heart gripped tighter and tighter until she couldn't breathe.

'Where is the third egg?! Where is-' the sight of the woman, once the definition of beauty — now sprawled in front of the eggs, as if to shield them. The feeling was unbearable, to breathe was to hurt…

There was a gaping hole in her chest where her heart was and an even bigger open hole where her stomach was...

'Why… who would do this?!'

The emptiness.

'They took what is not theirs…'

The anger.

'I will rid this world of them.'

The anxiety was too much…

'I will find them all…'

it was too strong…

'And I will end their pathetic existence.

With trembling hands, she gathered the eggs and tried to put them together.

But the time she dared to approach the woman, her body was stiff with emotion. Trembling. Humming.

She gathered the broken woman in her arms and as she wailed for all she was worth, she felt the pressure that was building explode from her body-

Myriah shot up with a scream.

Arms flailing, legs swinging, she had to get out. She needed to breathe.

Strong arms came around her and she started to panic even more. She felt too closed she needed air..

"Stop the car!" Axel yelled, as Myriah started to shove and hit at him. Axel had time for his eyes to widen when the windows of the car all cracked simultaneously. "Don't leave the car, Tyler." A look to the wide eyed woman next to him. "Keep him safe."

The car came to a halt and with another shriek, Myriah kicked the back door from its hinges and threw herself out of the vehicle. Axel watched her land on her hands and knees, scraping them on the rocks below, he could smell the blood from the cuts. Before he could catch her, she scrambled to her feet and stumbled toward the open field, blindly reaching.

"Axel, what-" Angelo started but Axel threw himself after Myriah with a muttered: "stay here."

"Illai (No…)." Myriah whispered. Axel took a step toward her as Angalo and Atoli slowly climbed from the car. "Don't. I'll handle this." Axel murmured as he took a cautious step toward the frantic girl.

"Illai … (No...)" Myriah whispered again, looking blindly in front of her. Angalo and Atoli looked at one another, concerned. Tyler was thoroughly confused. Watching Myriah… it broke his heart and made his adrenaline pump. He reached for Mika's hand and held fast.

Axel narrowed his eyes, desperation, anxiety, and raw panic were rolling off of Myriah in waves.... he didn't know what to do, how to get her out of this state.

Myriahs emotions were a danger on their own. Her anger kept him on guard. He watched her stumble to her knees with her right hand outstretched. By now there were tears streaming down her cheeks as she mumbled incoherent words.

Axel looked toward the open blue sky as it started to turn grey. He watched dark clouds literally block the sun and he made a dash to Myriah who was on her haunches, her hands before her, silently crying.

'Is she lost in a dream?' Axel started to walk toward her, when he felt the magic pouring from her body. "Stay there!" He called to his brother and sister in law as his step transformed to a jog then to a full sprint when Myriah threw her head back and screamed as loud as she could. The wave of energy that rippled from her threw Axel a few feet backward and he landed hard enough on his back to knock the air out if him. Spots danced in his vision. He barely heard two similar thuds of his brother being thrown into the car that they were in, practically destroying it and Atoli being thrown into the tree that was just across the road from where they were.

'Tyler…'

Axel tried to get up again to be held down by the energy Myriah was releasing. The clouds cracked with her shriek and heavy rain started to pour. Axel could barely turn his head to the side as to not down in the rain that was pouring over his prone body. Myriahs wail ended for her to cry out again as lightning struck throughout the skies, to strike the ground right after.

Axel tried to fight the energy that kept him down, the emotions coming from Myriah bordered madness, when she was perfectly fine earlier...

Earlier until she touched the stone...

Just like the last time… she lost consciousness and was pulled into a dream.. 'like the red dream she spoke of… is it connected? Is she… dream walking? Or is someone reaching her through their dreams?'

Axel tried to calm himself as he felt his own anxieties grow tenfold. Dream walking is dangerous even for him.

This type of magic could kill her... somehow the darkness was growing and festering in her heart with every second she stayed in the state she was in.

Axel centered himself, and gently pushed against the wall that held him down. It was a trudge that seamed Longer than it was....

He stood before Myriah who looked at him with wide unseeing eyes.

"Pōyviṭṭatu... Avarkaḷ... Avarkaḷ... (Gone... they... they....)" the words couldn't formulate when Axels hands came heavy onto her shoulders.

"Avarkaḷ aṉaivarum taṅkaḷ kuṟṟattiṟkāka iṟantuviṭuvārkaḷ(They will all die for their crime)."

Her voice was distorted, as if another were speaking for or through her...

"Inta koṭūramāṉa uyiriṉaṅkaḷ taṅkaḷ muṭivai cantikkum (These insolent creatures will meet their end)!"

And she fell into his arms unconscious. And like that the skies were bright and blue and there was no trace of the storm they were just in.

Angalo and Tyler rushed to Axel while Mika tended to Atoli.

"What the hell just happened?!" Tyler asked, worry ridden.

"She's plagued by dreams, I think."
