System 250

His vision turned blurry as he heard screaming and yelling. Sirens blared in the distance, making his finger twitch in an attempt to cover his ears. He forces his eyes, trying to look up at the sky one more time. Hot, sticky blood started puddling under him, making him cringe internally.

"--bulance is on its way!"

The words fall on deaf ears as he tries to push himself up from the ground. Once again, his finger could only twitch. He cursed in annoyance, only for the sound to come out as a pitiful gurgle. He admits defeat, and instead strains his eyes to move towards the sky. His vision is blocked by the tall building he was thrown off of, and the urge to cuss and hold a middle finger towards it consumed him.

Trying one last time, he managed to weakly curl his hand into a fist, barely managing to hold out his middle finger. He looks the building up and down, managing an amused smile.

"F*ck...you…"

Blinding lights is all he could see as he opened his eyes. The smell of blood lingered beside him, and a throbbing headache split his head. Groaning, he tries to hold his head in his hands, but only manages to make the headache worse.

[Ding! System 250 configuring…]

[Welcome, host Jianyu! I am System 250, and will guide you through your journey across the universe!]

Finally, the headache dies down, and Jianyu opens his eyes to see a pink holographic screen in front of him. Startled, he shoots up from his sleeping position and panics.

"Who are you!" he exclaims, "and where am I!"

[System 250 is a system designed to guide their host through their journey to happiness.] The system's robotic voice replies, but Jianyu remains vigilant.

"What do you mean by happiness? And you never answered my question about where I am!" The system doesn't reply for a moment, leaving Jianyu to wait impatiently.

[System 250 is here to find your happiness after such a tragic ending of your last life. Since you ended your own life in such a pitiful way, the administrators have decided that it is best to give you another-]

"Wait, wait wait," Jianyu says, stopping the system mid-sentence. "Ending my own life? Tragic? I never ended my own life," he crosses his arms across his chest, raising an accusing eyebrow towards the blank pink screen still sitting in front of him. "I think you got the wrong person."

[Excuse this system for a moment as they check with the administrator.]

"Hey wait, you still haven't told me where--"

The pink screen suddenly disappears, and Jianyu is left alone. Pissed but bored, he looks around his surroundings, and realizes he is in a completely white room, with no door or floor. It almost seems as if he were floating in white space.

[Ding! System 250 is back.]

"F*ck!" Jianyu jumps, startled by the pink screen that pops up in front of him. "A little warning before you scare me next time!" He glares at the pink screen, which blinks, as if in apology.

[Apologies, but System 250 has talked with the administrators of your problem, and we apologize for mistaking you for someone else. As compensation for this inconvenience, we have decided to provide you with status bonuses and system points for the store you can unlock once you arrive in your first world.]

Jianyu drops his head into his hands, pissed beyond belief.

"You mean to say that I'm still going to be finding this so-called…happiness?" He grinds his teeth, glaring through the blue screen.

[Affirmative.]

"You--" Jianyu forces down his urge to scream, instead grabbing the pink screen and shaking it violently. "Just let me die peacefully damnit!"

[Apologies, but System 250 has to continue its mission to give the host the best life possible due to the administrator's instructions.]

Jianyu let out a frustrated gurgling sound, flinging the pink screen away into the white space, only for it to pop back in front of him.

"Why can't you just send me back home then? I'd be happier trying to kill the man who killed me."

[Apologies, but the administrators have deemed your first life pitiful enough for System 250 to continue with its mission. Host must also follow along and find the world where Host will be happiest. This does not include Host's original home world.]

"Fine." Jianyu throws up his hands in mock defeat, letting out a frustrated sigh. "This better be worth it."

[System 250 promises it will try its best to accommodate the Host.]
