2 First Battle

Assuming his Orthodox stance and trying to process the information around him, his brain calculated instances so rapidly that it felt like he was a character in a video game.

Seizing the opportunity presented by the zombie he faced, he relied on his quicker reflexes to tilt slightly to the side, avoiding the fist swung at him from a 10 o'clock angle.

His maneuver caused the zombie to lose balance. However, just as he prepared to exploit the zombie's vulnerability, it surprisingly reacted like a seasoned fighter, smashing its elbow into Chris's face, forcing him to step back unsteadily.

Argh!

Chris grunted in pain, clutching his now broken nose with his hands, feeling the shifted bone. Blood leaked like a tap nearing depletion, not water.

He raised his arm and pointed toward the bar's ceiling with his middle finger, a provocative gesture. Then, he altered his finger gesture to further taunt the zombie, signaling for it to attack again.

*Roar!*

As though it remained in its right senses, the zombie roared in anger, its neck veins bulging like green snakes, as if they were about to break free from their confinement.

Satisfied with his provocation, since he didn't anticipate a reaction from a mindless creature, an evil smile spread across his face, reminiscent of the devil's grin.

Brandishing his baton, he dashed forward intending to face the zombie heads on, his baton was aimed at the abdomen of the zombie, while the zombie was aiming at his face intending to turn his face to a canvas where the paint would be his blood.

But how couldn't Chris a genius in the field of martial arts not see this coming, taking advantage of his surroundings having been fully aware of his surroundings since he took his stance?

He changed direction and pressed his foot against the walls, luckily they were in a corner and he used this fact to his advantage, hereby gaining momentum from the wall, his baton changed the target and this time aimed for the zombie's head with an aggressive force as he swung the baton like he was playing baseball, mid-air, something that would seem impossible for others.

Being a genius in martial arts was no joke, and facing a zombie, a being that felt no pain was a big headache.

But who was he not to fight back, because there was only one rule and that is FIGHT OR DIE.

After successfully creating a feint and avoiding the claws of the zombie in the process, his baton successfully smashed into the face of the zombie causing its skull to carve in, and its body to sway.

Chris took a quick roll on the floor because of the momentum and in the process getting to the opposite side of his previous position.

Getting on his feet rapidly, he swung his right leg like an axe aiming for the zombie's head once again, but the zombie raised its head sensing the approaching attack, raised its fist intending to meet heads on with the incoming kick.

It was too late for Christopher to revert his attack as he had been in mid-air for a while now, finally, the collision occurred and a snap was heard accompanied by a scream of agony which could be heard throughout the bar but was successfully ignored.

Arghhhh!

His ankle had been snapped due to the recent collision, clutching onto his broken ankle, the anger in him started to burn fiercely like it had been fueled.

A surge of adrenaline got him standing back on his feet, but of course his right leg was no longer balanced, feeling so enraged he held the baton with both hands as we swung the baton aiming at the zombie's face once again.

If anyone were watching, they would notice the zombie's eyes widen, but how was it possible for a mindless creature to get shocked?

But why won't it get shocked since it could sense soul power? It sensed the burst of soul power in the human opponent, something that felt like an illusion.

The zombie was too slow to react to the attack as the feet of the young man merged with its face, turning its face into a meat paste.

Returned his leg to the ground while taking a 180-degree turn and now backing the lifeless zombie. Different emotions started swirling within him, but of all these emotions he was devoid of one emotion HAPPINESS.

In normal circumstances, after being the victor in a life-and-death battle, one was meant to be filled with utmost joy, because they would live longer than that moment.

But Christopher couldn't help himself get happy because of the sudden burst of power that overwhelmed him, he felt himself losing rationality as his strength grew stronger, and he felt a strange force within him being triggered.

He felt scared and shocked at the same time, scared that if that force got triggered around his family or loved ones, he could kill them with his own hands and who would want that, he felt shocked as he thought 'Where did that power come from?'.

Beast souls are of different forms

He felt some weird invisible energy leave the body of the dead undead and was absorbed by his body and he suddenly felt all the cells In his body tearing apart and being built in seconds.

Argh!

The pain was not easy to bear as he screamed and couldn't help but writhe on the ground soaked with blood and some sticky unknown fluid that came out of the lifeless zombie.

After thirty seconds that seemed to take a millennia finally passed by, he wiped off the beads of sweat on his forehead as he sighed in relief and said with a wry smile "Phew... I seem to have taken a step into the gates of hell and fired back to heaven".

Feeling the air around him feel lighter he couldn't help but smile happily as the thought of swimming in power flooded his head. He then drew his attention to the cryptic messages that had popped up in his retina.

Has he viewed the contents in his status window, he muttered indifferently 'It really is a zombie, but what the hell is still going on.. anyway what is meant to be discovered will be discovered at the end, and what isn't meant to be discovered won't be even after a thousand years' he said as he recalled what his mother always told him when feeling anxious.

He looked at the beast soul reflecting on his status window, as he thought 'Beast soul?... What the hell is going on with me, by the way, Shapeshift into a zombie? It feels like I can be able to transform into a zombie, eww this ain't cool'.

Crackling his knuckles and neck, he tried to focus on the beast soul to test the waters for his beast soul, but his attention was drawn to the sound of a battle across the bar.

As he noticed some new messages reflecting in his retina, as he was about to engage himself in it's contents, he was distracted by the noise from a battleground not too far away from him, he quickly ignored the messages and looked in the direction of the battle.

He noticed a man who seemed to be in his middle sixties trying to fend off a zombie with a broken beer bottle, but it seemed to be a futile effort as the zombie was still advancing toward him slowly but unimpeded.

But Chris felt this zombie was weaker than the one he faced, merely by looking at it, he just didn't know whether it was because he had grown stronger or the zombie was weaker than the one he faced.

Without thinking twice he dashed forward to help the old man but his legs carved in and he fell to the ground as a result of his broken ankle.

'Shit...' he couldn't help but curse as he started thinking of countermeasures in other to help the old man.

Suddenly a smile appeared on his face as he said out loud ' feels like this could work.'
