18 Chain Quest

Gerard almost jump and shout in joy when he heard a familiar sound.

[System Notification]

[Quest has been completed]

[Generating Rewards]

His breathing become haggard which didn't escape the sharp senses of Kurosawa.

"Oi. Brat, are you okay? You're gasping for air, are you sick?" Kurosawa cannot help but asked him and there's a tinge of worry in his tone. Who would blame him? He just accepts an apprentice with frightening potential and yet he's sick? Talk about bad luck.

Gerard dazedly glanced at Kurosawa and return back to blankly staring into the air.

Meanwhile in the other part of West Town. A beautiful player is currently heading to Central Plaza, she just enter West Town through its main gate a couple of minutes ago.

Players and even the same sex were amazed at how beautiful this player is. She has long raven hair which sways and dances in the air every time a breeze passes her by. Her long eyelashes complement her slender eyebrows, with a dainty nose that gives way to her velvety lips. And Players cannot help themselves leering at her shapely figure.

Some of the NPCs are no exceptions, they glanced and stare at her for a moment before going back on their track.

She was originally from Amethyst City but due to the quest that sent the whole Kingdom into an uproar, she was sent by her leader to investigate.

According to her leader's analysis, the basic quest should only appear when players start leveling up. But they were perplexed when the news reached them that it appears just an hour after the Kingdom's Official Launch.

It is either the Healer has a stroke of heaven-defying luck or another group of players or the Core Group as the player called it has a strong background in real life and is stationed here in West Town.

According to her leader, before the Kingdom was launched, they already investigated in real life that there should be no core group will be stationed in West Town, because this town has no qualities worth mentioning compared to Amethyst City or the Capital City of Edo Kingdom. But just to make sure, her leader sent her here.

She and her Leader are the same as these people who had a strong background in terms of money and influence. In the world of virtual games, groups of players keep emerging one by one with the backing of rich countries or businesses, giving them funds to grind and be strong.

Virtual games are also a source of money so it is natural these rich personalities will invest in these types of players.

These core groups most likely have a higher chance to establish their own kingdom inside the game after the government community due to their whale backers.

And now, those rich personalities and core group switch their attention here in Kingdom.

So when the quest was posted in Forums, millions of people were sent into an uproar and this didn't escape those in the eyes of countless core groups.

Sally was sent to West Town through Teleportation Scroll which costs 5 Silver Coins just to investigate that player, and if the said player is extraordinary or meets the minimum criteria, she will recruit this Healer.

At first, she persuaded her leader not to use their Teleportation Scroll because it is costly! They were able to secure three Teleportation Scrolls through the contributions of their group. This scroll is reserved for important events, although a party quest was triggered, this is not considered as one of those events! Maybe the Healer only bump into the NPC, talk her out of it, and was able to trigger a quest. Besides, this is West Town, not Amethyst City or any City that stood above this town. She doubted if there was a chain quest here that her Leader keep spouting.

In the end, it is her leader so she has no choice but to obey her leader. And why she was sent here instead of another member of their group?

Simple, because of her breathtaking beauty. She was told that her beauty can even make the same gender leer at her. This game's NPCs are intelligent, so even NPCs can call her a beauty.

And right now, she was aware different players and NPC are leering in her direction. She's already used to it but being looked at intensely, she cannot help but shiver and blush for a moment. And she can stride forward without worrying too much because attacking or harassing players inside the town or city is forbidden, but if still do the deed, the consequences are severe and the system will issue a crime level.

Through her beauty, her leader hopes to coax the Healer. It is okay for her, but what's not okay for her is the leader intended her to stay here in West Town if found there's a chain quest here!

Upon hearing what her leader said, she cannot help but plead her way out of the room. But her pleading didn't help her, she even used her most alluring and yet innocent expression to plead but she received a hit in her head. After all, her leader is her best friend, and a girl at that. Her charm is not working for her best friend, and that is why right now, she is here.

Sally sighed and continue familiarizing herself in the West Town.

Chain quest, huh? Although she didn't want to stay in this town, a chain quest can give them an advantage.

First, the chain quest is like a storytelling quest. First, the NPC will give the first quest with a brief introduction like fighting a monster. Upon reporting the completion of the quest to NPC, the latter will issue another quest, and with the quest difficulty increases, another brief introduction will be handed over to them which is connected to the first quest issued. This will repeat three to four times, and after quest every quest, the player will get a hint of what this chain quest is all about.

This type of quest can be part of the main storyline, just the main storyline alone can send all the players of the Kingdom around the world to go crazy because the rewards of this quest are bountiful! Giving them a tremendous advantage over their peers! And even the government community will writhe in pain upon missing the chance to get the chain quest.

And when they get lucky and trigger the part of the main storyline quest, it would open a path for them giving them fame and influence throughout the whole Kingdom.

But there is a lot of different chain quest that is not part of a storyline and these chain quests is called side storyline.

So after issuing a simultaneous quest four times, the fifth time which is always the last quest in the chain quests will determine if these chain quests are part of the main storyline or just a side storyline only.

So her leader insists she comes here using the costly teleportation scroll.

She also brings a total of 5 Silver Coins in her pocket to sustain her five-day expenses of staying here. If happened she cannot find the Healer, she needs to work herself to sustain her expenses because she cannot come back to Amethyst City without good results. Even if she comes back on foot, dangers and powerful monsters only await her on the road.

She has no choice but to stay in West Town until she produces a good result. But is it possible to produce a good result within a week? Besides the player who posted in Forum didn't disclose her in-game name, she only disclosed her job class.

Although her job class is only a few compared to a DPS job, still finding one is difficult.

Fifty yards away from Central Plaza, she almost groaned upon seeing the people still swarming. It's been four hours since the post sent an uproar in the Forum and yet, people are still hoping the Healer chooses them.

"Oi. Why are you still here? Are you still trying your luck? It's been hours. If you follow me earlier, you might level up like me. See? I'm already level 2!"

"Hmph! You don't understand. Experience can be gained anywhere but the rare item in this stage of the game is rare."

"Hehe! Why your face is distorted knowing that I level up grinding monster?!"

"Hey! Look, that Assassin was able to reach level 2! Let's go! Let's grind monster! I want to level up too."

"Yeah, we are just wasting time here."

"Come on guys, if you do not want to be left behind that much, grind monsters too!"

But one by one, players start to disperse from the Central Plaza with regret and disdain. They just wasted time here instead of strengthening themselves. Such a waste of time.

When the number of players present in the plaza drastically decreases, NPCs start to carry on with the task in their minds and discuss with each other the sudden swarming of heroes in the plaza.

Sally took a shade near the bakery shop and scrutinize her surrounding to look for a Healer Job.

While doing so, she cannot help but frown upon smelling the aroma of bread that was being baked. The aroma almost made her drool but she knew, every player knew that the food in the Kingdom only smells good but tasted bland. Just literally tasted bland, even the beverages taste like water.

The information related to the food when publicly announced is different inside the game. That is when they realized that the Chef is one of the two options as a subclass. Now they know how important the subclass is at the beginning of the game. Government Communities and Core Group are so regretful for giving the order to ignore the subclass and save it for the upcoming update.

Only a few players choose a subclass, and those few choose Blacksmith. Only a handful out of millions of players is able to choose the Chef subclass.

Now, the players are longing a tasteful food inside the game. They do not want to log out just to taste good food.

The players cannot help but wait for the system to grant them again an option to choose a subclass, and the question is, when?

Her train of thought was suddenly halted when she overheard a group of three players with bruises and dirt all over their bodies.

Some of the cotton on their leather clothing is tattered.

"Angel, are you sure? We already circle around the whole West Town and we still cannot find the NPC called Payne Blanc.

"Yes, I am sure. Maybe it is part of the quest to find him?"

Aliyah rolled her eyes "If it is part of the quest, why it is not included in the description?"

Angel cannot answer that question and only sighed. They are circling around and kept coming back to Midnight Inn where she met Payne Blanc, she even asks the Inn owner but the latter only snorted and answer that the NPC she is looking for is still outside doing god knows what.

"Aliyah, that's enough. Let's just come back again to the Midnight Inn, who knows Mr. Payne is already there and waiting for Angel."

"Okay, fine. Let's go."

The three walk and head toward where the Midnight Inn is located.

Oh? So it's her huh? That's the healer and she was able to find a companion to complete the part quest.

Sally commended Angel's action. Her way of thinking is enough for her to pass the minimum requirements. She publicly recruited players by posting the quest in the Forum and discreetly choose the party member behind the player's back.

She also noted the name of the NPC who issued the quest. She then followed the party member carefully.

After following the party for about twenty minutes, she saw the party arrive in front of Midnight Inn.

The three entered and she followed through.

Upon entering she saw the party seating on the server, and she choose to sit at the table near them.

After waiting of waiting, an average handsome-looking man approaches the three.

Sally quickly throw all her concentration on her hearing sense while watching closely the group and the newly arrive NPC named Payne Blanc.

"Ms. Angel, you've arrived."

Hearing the familiar voice, Angel quickly turn around and stood up, and greeted back "Mr. Payne! Yes, we are and we are able to complete the quest."

"Oh? Let's see." Payne responded and place his finger on his chin.

After waiting for a couple of seconds, Sally saw Payne's eyes fluctuate with delight in a fraction of a second.

"Good Job Ms. Angel. Congratulation on completing the quest. Are they your companion?"

Angel quickly nodded "Yes, they are. This is Aliyah, a Swordswoman and this is Lex, a Guardian."

Lex is the first to greet Payne hoping to receive a quest by greeting him with the respect that he can muster "Mr. Payne, just like what Ms. Angel has told us, you are quite a domineering and distinguished man"

Sally's went open wide. Should it be a woman saying that piece, not a guy? Aliyah shares the same sentiment and told herself she will smack Lex later.

Payne Blanc only laughs merrily before nodding his head. Sally's left eyebrow arched when she saw Payne scratch the back of his head.

This a characteristic of a highly intelligent NPC, worthy of being a real human in the real world.

Interesting.

"Well then, here's your reward."

Upon hearing the word rewards, the three party member and even Sally become excited and gulp.

After a couple of seconds, Angel and her party show a joyful expressions on their faces making Sally enviable.

Lex made a fist bump in the air which intrigued Sally even more.

Does she wonder what kind of rewards they received?

After another couple of seconds, Angel asked Payne "Mr. Payne, may we know if we can still get the quest from you?"

Hearing her asking the NPC, Aliyah, Lex and even Sally went curious. All of them simultaneously look to Payne Blanc.

But the latter didn't respond quickly, surely taking his time while smiling at Angel.

Every second passed is like torture. But this is only short-lived when Sally heard the answer that her leader is hoping to get.

"Of course, after all the quest I issued to you is a chain quest."

Payne responded nonchalantly.

The four players' mouths turn O while their eyes express great joy and shock.
