6 Orientation Day (5)

The cabal of conspirators circled together like the offense for an American football team. Primm's cute face looked like a demon lord plotting with her hoard.

"Well, what do you guys really think?"

"His use of Unitonian synthesis as an integration apparatus for a market saturation model is genius," Icky Bob said as he pushed his glasses up with his middle finger.

"The material education program he outlined combining traditional forging and modern fabrication methods in his three universes system was the smoothest integration I've seen even among seniors. He could easily get an internship based on that alone," Fries said excitedly.

"Utilizing spirit techniques to create clones in his 1,000 Me system gave me chills.

I would like to try it for myself." The normally reticent Soferia added in what some may think was interest.

Her eyes were open a fraction wider than usual. For her, it meant she was extremely excited.

"His understanding of beast taming and beast contracts are as powerful as my sister's. I love him." Animina croaked.

"The integrated training programs throughout out all of the systems are inspired. It's typical Rem." Fezz said.

The programming skill and the pill forging techniques are sublime," Primm said to the group.

"Of course the flaws are just as obvious," she continued.

"This is also classic Rem, he chases rabbit trails. He's like an artist who chases every inspiration until you can no longer make heads or tails of the piece. His laziness also comes through," Fezz added.

Everyone nodded in the group.

"Relax, that's why we're here.

We're going to fix those flaws, cut out the nonsense, and save the things that distract from the purpose of the systems. We could probably use those for different systems in the future.

He's just like I said, isn't he?" Primm asked.

"Our princess always sees gold," Fries said with a laugh.

"We have less than a week to turn in fourteen complete systems. I'm going to assign tasks before the end of the orientation today and when you get home it's time to work!"

"Why did you tell him we had to complete two systems each, we only have to complete one basic design," Soferia asked.

"What? You don't want your name associated with those genius systems? Plus, this guy is a knucklehead.

If Fezz didn't bring him to my attention; I would have dismissed him as another arrogant kid who didn't know any better.

We need to show him the power of teamwork. If we can get him to add our strength to his; we'll be an unstoppable force at the school.

We might even have a shot at the National Junior Deluxe System Competition in a few months." Prim said with a gleam in her eye.

My final reason is that I want my time at the System Academy to be the most mindblowing, gobsmacking, shock intensive, and insane ride that our team will be known as the most legendary myth-making team to ever come out of The System Maker Academy.

If I don't cause at least ten people to die from a heart attack, cause a thousand shock-induced mental derangements, and one million falls on your tushy surprises during my time here; I'll count it as a complete failure!" The little princess said with steely determination.

The other students caught their breath as they realized that with a whiz kid like Rem they could become the elite of the elites, monsters without equal in the multiverse.

First, they would wow the faculty with an entry of fourteen powerful Q1 level systems.

Second, they would enter the NJDSC and crush their opponents.

The competition was usually junior and senior teams against other junior and senior teams.

They would be the first Freshman team to ever win the NJDSC in its long history.

Resolute expressions cemented on the faces of each of the students as they looked at Primm and gave a solemn bow acknowledging their commitment.

"Do your best guys, I've known this kid since we were little. He's more stubborn than a dragon mule and harder to move than the tree stump of a world tree."

Meanwhile, Rem found a candy shop and was looking for something tasty.

"What do I want, gummy worms, gummy sharks, or gummy mechs?" He wondered to himself.

"Hey big brother!" a cherub-like voice said.

Rem looked down and saw a five or six-year-old girl looking up at him with a broad smile.

"Do you need something, little sister?"

"I'm ZuZu, not little sister, but if you buy me some candy I'll be your friend," the little girl said innocently.

"Do I have to buy you candy to be your friend?" Rem asked half-joking.

"Yes." The little girl was very serious with her response. Rem laughed out loud but seeing how serious she was he shrugged his shoulders.

"What do you want?"

The little girl pointed to a jawbreaker about the size of a softball. Rem's eyes bugged out when he saw it.

He pointed at the giant candy in surprise, "can you even fit that in your mouth?"

The little girl nodded her head solemnly.

"I've got to see this." No longer motivated by an altruistic drive to do something nice for a cute kid, but the pure curiosity and interest of a boy wanting to see whether someone could successful pull off doing something stupid; Rem bought the monstrous sweet sphere.

After purchasing a variety of gummy candies and the titanic tooth destroyer, Rem and the little girl exited the store.

They walked over to a bench and Rem gave her the jawbreaker.

Shocked isn't a sufficient term to describe his feelings as he watched the girl's tiny mouth expand to fit the giant candy.

Currently, she looked like she had a second head trying to grow out of her cheek.

Rem was astonished at first but quickly pulled out a marker he kept with him and drew a little face on the bulge.

He stepped back and admired his work.

The little girl was clearly happy.

She looked past Rem and saw something that excited her. Immediately, she ran away but briefly turned back and waved at him before catching up to an older man and woman.

Rem waved back at Zuzu.

"Parents or grandparents, I wonder which," he didn't think much more about it. He was happy because he was able to get a picture of the girl before she left. He made it his new wallpaper on his phone.

Rem stuffed a couple of gummies into his mouth and went to find his friends.

As Zuzu caught up she grabbed the couple's hands. They looked down and smiled gently at the little girl.

The older man nearly fell over when he saw a huge bulging lump with a smiling face on her cheek.

"Zuzu? What is that, are you growing a second head?"

"?" Zuzu was confused.

The woman stopped and examined her next, "Oh my, my sweet little Zuzu, your Great Grandfather is right, your face is giving birth to a second head!"

"What?" Zuzu didn't understand the pair at all.

"Mommy, what are you and Great Grandfather talking about?"

"Here, look in my mirror." The woman pulled a compact mirror from her purse and handed it to Zuzu.

"!" Zuzu's little face was completely shocked. Sure enough, a little face was bulging from her cheek.

"Mommy, is this my little sister?" Zuzu asked innocently.

The pair looked at each other and laughed happily with the little girl.

As they continued forward, Zuzu told her family about the nice boy who bought her a delicious treat.

When Rem found his friends, they were getting ready to head back to the auditorium. The President of the School was about to give his welcome speech.

Rem would rather do something else, but like everything else that he thought was a waste of his time today, it was mandatory.

Their group walked to the auditorium. As they walked into the distance a small form hiding in the bushes laughed sinisterly.

"Think you can steal my girl from me? I'll show you, ha hahaha," the shadow disappeared.

Feeling like someone was staring at him, Rem looked back but didn't see anything. Shrugging his shoulders he turned back and kept walking.
