5 Orientation Day (4)

The disgruntled group looked at Rem and waited for his response. He felt their gazes burning through him.

"I am very particular about my systems. Others always ignored my opinions even though my methods were still superior.

Fezz always argued with me even though I know a hundred times more about training than him."

Strangely, Fezz didn't get that upset. He heard this reason so often from Rem over the years that it was like empty air to him.

"You haven't even completed one system on your own. Surely this is clear evidence that you need help," Seforia said.

"First, don't call me Shirley.

Second, I've made lots of systems on my own; I just haven't launched any of them. I figure after I've learned a little more from the Academy, I won't have any problem finishing and establishing a system."

Rem closed his eyes and turned from the others like some snobbish lady at a shoe store.

"This guy is always saying 'when I finish when I finish,' but I know the reason he doesn't finish is that he's lazy and whimsical.

He like's creating the systems, but he doesn't like the nitty-gritty work of finishing them. If he weren't so lazy, he probably would have finished several systems by now." Fezz said to the group.

Fezz's words elicited a curious gaze from Primm.

"Rem, how many systems have you almost finished?" She asked.

Rem thought about it for a moment before responding.

"I guess over the last year, or so there are about eighteen systems that I've nearly completed.

It's not like I'm lazy; when my system doesn't work, I figure out what the problem is and try and fix it. Usually, I realize it's easier to create a new and improved system.

It's hard chasing after perfection."

The group was hesitant and suspicious of his words. What did he mean by 'almost finished'? That could mean anything from a general outline to he only needs to publish it to a platform.

Eighteen system ideas didn't mean anything. Any one of them could come up with over a hundred concepts over the span of a year.

However, if he had eighteen nearly complete systems, that' like more than one system a month. That's crazy!

"Do you have a list of the systems you've almost finished? Oh, and can we see how far you've gotten with them?" Primm asked.

Shrugging his shoulders, Rem hit an app on his phone, and six pieces of paper shot out from it.

The papers landed neatly at the center of the table. Everyone grabbed a sheet.

The paper felt like real paper and could be held like real paper, but with a swipe of your finger, you could move through several pages without ever turning it over.

You could also insert links, change the font size, share, edit, insert videos, and all kinds of things.

The page had a list of linked titles. These were the names of different systems Rem created.

1. Grand Immortal Heaven System

2. Undefeatable Rockman System

3. Balloon Fu Mastery System

4. Silver King Master System

5. The Immortal Water Dragon Incarnation System

6. Blazing Immortal System

7. The Grandpa System

8. Legendary Super Hero System for Martial Artists

9. Immortal Cultivation System for Super Heroes

10. Tech Tychoon of 3 Universes System

11. Sensational Pill Master of the Heavens System

12. Fighting System

13. Grand Master of the Five Elements System

14. Ultimate Beast Tamer System

15. Reincarnation Cloning Master across the Multiverse System

16. Four Beast Unification System

17. 1,000 Me System

18. Bully Beating System

No one in the group was overly impressed by the system names. Some of the namings were almost lazy. However, when they went through the specs and design notes, it took everything they had not to react.

If anyone looked closely at Primm's eyes, they would have seen a gold shimmer.

At almost the same time, everyone put down their papers and looked over at Rem. They were about to heap praise on him, but seeing his smug smile, their faces lost all expression and said at the same time.

"Not bad."

The blase reaction of the other students surprised Rem so much he almost fell off the bench.

"What do you mean, 'not bad?' Those are all super awesome systems that are almost ready for the market.

I just haven't gotten around to fixing a few minor problems. Once I do that, I'll become a gazillionaire in no time!"

"It's not bad, but dude, you have to understand that there's a long way to go until these things are ready for release." Fries said.

"Just looking at the details, it's clear where your weakness is at," Seforia said.

"Your business sense is so rudimentary it's almost equivalent to an elementary school kid's," Icky Bob said.

"Your training programs are both unrealistic and ignore the availability of key treasures needed to maximize the effect of the training," Fezz said.

"Beast would eat your beta tester," Animina croaked.

A deep sigh came out of Primm as she walked over to Remm and gently patted him on the back like a mother comforting a child.

"You see, everyone agrees. It's obvious why you haven't launched a system yet.

Even though you've demonstrated a general understanding of the seven categories of system making, your skills aren't strong enough to do solo builds. You're not some mad genius. You really need a team.

However, you have shown an overall grasp of planning and creating. Your programming is probably the best aspect of your systems.

I think you would make a good Project Leader; I'll be the Project Manager; how does that sound?" Primm asked.

"What? Wait..."

"It seems like you're still not convinced. I think we'll take this opportunity to prove to you how much you need a team." Primm continued to push him.

Rem didn't notice the conniving look that flashed across Primm's pretty face.

"Which of the systems are you going to use, then?"

"Not many; we'll just use fourteen of your systems," Primm said.

"Wah, fourteen...what are you talking about. Why would you finish fourteen of my systems?"

"You are aware that we must submit completed systems as evidence of our ability to work as a team, correct?"

"Yes," Rem nodded. He didn't really know that; he just assumed Primm was telling him the truth, which she wasn't. He didn't want to look dumb for not understanding such an essential requirement.

The others in the group quietly sneered at the naive all-rounder genius. So smart and yet so dumb!

"There are seven of us here, and we must submit two completed systems each. Two times seven is fourteen.

We only have a week to finish, so we should get started right away."

"What, why don't they submit their system? Why are you taking mine?" Rem was getting suspicious and heated up.

Primm threw back her head and slouched her body back.

"Uhh, you are so thick! I invited everyone here because they had systems almost ready but needed help with their non-specialties. We were going to work on those together.

However, a certain someone doesn't believe in the power of teamwork and goes about creating systems willy nilly.

Obviously, we have to show you the power of teamwork, and what better way than to do it with your systems? You know them the best, so you'll be the best person to judge the results," Primm said as if talking to an idiot.

"Do you understand now? OK, great, let's go.

You've already made your contribution, Mr. Project Leader, so do something while the rest of us do our part.

Oh, I need you to upload your system files to the shared design server I just set up. Here's the login info."

Prim already had the transfer request sent to Rem, who dumbly transferred the files. He was only going to send fourteen, but Primm made him send all eighteen.

According to her, they could choose the systems they wanted to work on without bothering him.

After receiving the files, Primm gave a big smile.

"Okay, Mr. Leader, we're going to be busy with a quick team meeting.

You'll get bored, so here's some money.

Why don't you go and buy some candy or something? There you go. Go away, go, go go go!"

Primm shooed him away like he was an annoying little kid.

"Somehow, I think I was just taken advantage of by that girl," Rem thought to himself as he left for the candy store.

After he left, Primm turned to look at everyone. Their serious but exasperated looks changed to evil plotting looks until they finally started laughing maniacally.
