Chapter 9

The next few days were all spent similarly. We would travel during the day and at night Nejime would teach me about as many magical concepts as she could. After a few days, I eventually ended up showing Nejima that I could use moonlight and sunlight magic as well.

She was incredibly surprised when she saw that but quickly accepted it as another thing my constitution could do. That's one hell of a constitution, I don't remember anything like that from the lore, then again there were still many factions we knew little to nothing about when I came over to Runeterra.

How deep were the studies of the Ixtali, how vast and powerful were the armies of Shurima, who were the Vastayashai'rei and many more questions that keep on piling up. A constitution that is compatible with magics of all kinds wouldn't actually seem that strange in this ocean of fantastical powers.

Nejime's magic lessons were really amazing. The system seemed to recognize Nejime's lessons and created the skills with me only having to do the bare minimum. I think Nejime was shocked at the speed at which I learned than at my constitution.

And since the system doesn't just let me use skills, but instead, slowly engraves the know-how and experience into me. I was also able to teach Nejime a lot of things. She was most surprised by the meditation and energy control skill.

She told me there were similar meditation techniques, but they were the super-secret techniques of the oldest Ascended and that they never shared them with others. Quite an amazing system I have. I'll probably be able to grow stronger much faster than anyone else, but I still have to be careful even though Runeterra is fairly safe except for the occasional war. That will all change once Icathia falls. After that event a few hundred years after Icathia, Shurima will fall, the Darkin will become the tyrants of Shurima and Valorant, the Darkin will be defeated the Immortal Bastion will rise, the rune wars will destroy the Noxian steppes and the Shadow Isles will be born. And every one of these events will cause chaos in Runeterra. The only somewhat unaffected areas will be Ionia and the Freljrod, but the Freljord are in constant war thanks to the always reincarnating sisters.

I wonder how many years are still left until Icathia rebels. Ah, whatever the case I have at worst a few dozen years and at best a few hundred years. And I should already be at the level where I can beat an experienced Iceborn with my magic. And in a few more years I might even be strong enough to fight against some of the weaker champions, they should be at the level of a veteran Iceborn raider.

But whatever the future holds I need to improve now and thanks to Nejime teaching me I learned a bunch of new skills and was able to quickly level up my other skills too. Let's take a look.

All in all, I improved most skills except for sunlight and moonlight control. Travelling during the day and studying with Nejime made sure that I didn't have much time for those two skills.

Of the new skills, I find energy strengthening and magic casting the most interesting. With energy strengthening, I don't have to worry about becoming a glass cannon mage, and the casting speed I gain from magic casting will always be important in combat.

As for multicast, ever since I told Nejime about the other elements I could control I've been using earth, sand and wind magic at the same, increasing our speed by leaps and bounds. Thanks to the increase in speed we reached the port city already.

At the entrance of the city I dissolved our stone platform we rode on the past few days and we got Nejimes belongings.

"Alright Nene, you lead the way, I have no idea where to go and you made the plans"

"Sure sure, just stick close to me and don't get lost." She said with a smile.

Going into the city and letting her guide me really was quite nice. No more having to search around for stuff by myself. Instead, a friend and pretty lady guided me, while bantering. Ever since we found out a few secrets of the other, banter became much more common, and I must say travelling around while bantering was quite nice.

Though we could only afford the banter and leisure mood because of my speed. From what Nejime told me while travelling, we will have to deal with Shuriman authorities looking for her until we reach Ionia.

It'll probably be tough in Zaun. In the current era, Zaun was a massive Shuriman trading outpost and city. It also held many academies and garrisons. Being near the border of the current Shuriman empire required the city to have a strong military presence. Hearing this from Nejime I at first asked her if we should take another route, but she was confident in passing through Zaun unnoticed because she was a student in one of Zaun's academies and spent many years in Zaun thus knowing her way around.

And as for avoiding detection Nejime planned on simply wearing a hood and veil. Because of a surprising amount of traffic going through the city a simple disguise should work out as long as luck was with us.

Since Nejime went with a disguise I also couldn't call her by her normal name anymore. At first, she wanted a codename, but as she couldn't think of one I just gave her the nickname 'Nene'. It was simple and she liked it so that's dealt with

While I was going through everything in my head, I've been following Nejime this entire time and I got a pretty decent look at the city we went through. The style of the city was fairly similar to Nashramae but much smaller in scale. Almost all houses were built with sandstone, though the finishes on the stones of most houses still seem fairly rough. The roads here also weren't as wide nor as even. But surprisingly even though this small port city was less prosperous it seemed just as if not even more lively than Nashramae.

Having reached the port, Nejime and I quickly found a ship willing to take us to Zaun. Though I had no money to speak of, the same was not true for Nejime. She was in fact incredibly wealthy, wealthy enough that she could afford the travelling costs for an entire group until we'd reach Ionia.

As the ride to Zaun would take a few days I told Nejime that I wanted to focus on training for the ride and went to my room to start meditating. At night I'd exit my room and meditate under the moon. With the ocean around us, I will probably be able to gain water magic soon as well.
