Who's the Hunter? part 2

Currently, an Abnormal Titan was chasing the carriage on all fours and its teeth were on full display. Everyone on the carriage knew the danger that lurked behind them and knew that if they were to go back to the wall they would rather ignore them than help them.

"Alright, I got an idea. You guys will go west from here, away from the Titan Forest, and then at night you can go back to the gate. I'll distract the Abnormal." Before he could jump out Albert grabbed his arm.

"Whoa! First of all, how are we supposed to defend ourselves without you? Second, you don't know if you'll be sacrificing your life to slow it down. You need to calm down and let us think what to do, together."

Then after a moment of silence, Eren grabbed the gun, reloaded it, and then aimed his Rifle.

"Eren wait-!" But before the soldier could speak he fired and not by skill but luck, shot the Abnormal's right eye making it tumble and fall in pain. The adults watched in shock before Albert scratched his head and spoke.

"Smart idea little man! Alright, me and Eren will shoot at the Titan's eyes while we continue along." The soldier agreed before patting Eren's head a bit, for respect for the kid's quick thinking and saving his own life allowing him to see his family one more time.

And they spent their next hour traveling like this, they lost that Abnormal more than 20 minutes ago and had used more than half of their ammunition, which already wasn't much. 

They arrived at the wall gate and were permitted entry, and they were later taken to an office where they got a report of what happened and then gave over the deer that had been skinned. The adults gave the deer hide and antlers because they didn't need the items and it was his first hunt.

The antlers were in his bag, while the deer hide had been made into a cloak that was bigger than him and would fit him properly when he reached 5ft or so. But with the hunt ended, so too did the day.

When walking back to the warehouse he was living in, the soldier from before stopped him.

"Hey, Eren! Can I ask for a favor?" Eren just looked at the man, seeing that Eren was interested he smiled slightly.

"I would like to ask if I could hire you. We have been having a problem with some small critters, and the soldiers originally given this job either ditched it or are busy and can't do it. So I'd like to ask if from tomorrow until next year, you could shoot down some for food and get rid of some, but not all. Just enough to keep things under control. What ya say?"

After a pause, Eren nodded.

"Great! Meet me at the office area before and just ask for me, I'm called Carl." Carl the Garrison soldier spoke, before patting his head and leaving.

Eren stands there for a moment, thinking. Thinking about what the next day will bring. He hasn't felt any emotion since his mom died, but seeing Mikasa smile or be happy made him feel weird so he keeps doing things that make her smile or happy, because it's, comforting? 

He wasn't too sure.

Eren entered the warehouse and saw the children who had been let out earlier than the adults due to their age, looking towards the left back you could see Armin holding a straw hat.

Walking over, Eren sits next to Armin.

"Ah! Eren, how was the hunting trip?" Eren just looked at Armin before pulling the deer hide over the two of them. Armin accepted this and felt the hide, rubbing the hide a bit he looked up in curiosity.

"Which animal is this?"

"Deer." Hearing this Armin smiled, since Eren's mother died he hadn't spoken once so it was nice to see that the hunting trip or just time, maybe both helped him recover a bit.

Later, the entrance opened to show some kids entering due to either being sent to a farm at a farther distance or to the bathroom. And with them was Mikasa, Mikasa saw both Eren and Armin and rushed over.

"Eren! Are you ok?" She said holding his cheeks and looking around his face, however, Eren just opened the hide cloak on his side pulled her into his lap, and wrapped himself and her in the hide.

When this happened Mikasa was put into shock before blushing, she buried her head into his chest and rested. To Mikasa, this meant that it was a good and safe hunt, but to Eren, this was just to not bother talking about some random Titan. 

After a half hour, a few soldiers walk in with a cart of bread and hand it out to everyone inside the warehouse before leaving. Everyone is eating their bread in silence beside a mother in the corner feeding her child some bread, trying to calm the girl down.

Then after an hour, they were called to continue working on the field which took an hour to walk to. When they arrived some were given bags of seeds while others were given water cans.

Eren is given a seed bag, Mikasa is given a water can, and Armin is given a water can and he goes off with another child. While Mikasa and Eren stayed together.
