6 Kitty whisperer

The cat showed surprise in its eyes. After a couple of seconds, the claws started to go back into their sheats. The other paw went down to a non-threatening position.

Adam knew he had survived the immediate threat when the cat's eyes started to turn into half moons of pleasure, and a soft purring started reverberating in its chest.

Still singing, Adam managed to wiggle out from below the cat's paw and stood up. He knew that if he stopped pampering the cat, it would turn hostile again quite quickly. As far as he had seen, this situation was a sure death, pre-planned by the programmers as part of the story.

"happy kitty, sleepy kitty, pur pur purrr..."

Adam was preparing to run, hoping to find the natural barriers where he would lose the agro for this monster. He froze over when he heard a silky female voice.

"This feels so GOOD little human. Don't stop".

"WHAT?!! IT CAN TALK?!!" He said internally.

What he thought was a mindless mob turned up to be a sentient being. Adam quickly adjusted his thinking from Indiana Jones in the jungle to Aladdin trying to talk himself out of jail.

"Hello, Ms. Cat. Nice to make your acquaintance" he said, without stopping to scratch the spot he had his hands over.

"Yes, yes, my pleasure. Can you do below my ear? There is a spot I have been trying to scratch for a long time. And I am not a cat" she said.

Adam was a little bit miffed. He was supposed to be an action game. It felt like he had fallen into another type of game, like Pokemon or Tamagochi. He changed spots as instructed, eliciting a new wave of purring from the lovely cat.

"Of course. How should this servant address your noble self?" he said, trying to win as many points as he could with the monster. He would do everything he can to not end up as cat food.

"You can call me Irusan, little human" she said.

"Irusan-sama, where are we? How do I get to the nearest human village?" Adam asked her. He was trying to move the story along without having to die. Befriending the animal might be a secret solution the programmers had set. If he managed to get to a safe zone and log out, he could post and maybe increase his followers. He would not miss out on this advantage.

"We are on the blood plains of Lolupata. They are not truly bloody, as you can see. I think they call it that because it sounds cooler than "the plain with red grass". What do you think?". The cat asked him while fixing her piercing blue eyes on his face.

Adam was feeling goosebumps all over. This monster was over-talkative and somewhat casual with her words. Not at all what he comes to expect from games. Rather than a feeling of immediate danger, the opposite was what had him on edge. He felt more out of place than before.

"I think you are right Irulan-sama. It sounds cooler. And where may I find the nearest human settlement? I'm sorry to disturb your noble self". Adam insisted.

"Uhmm, it should be almost a month for me. But I can go rather fast when I want to. For a small human, like you, maybe 4 or 5 months. I'm not sure. I have never made the trip at human speed" said the cat.

"WHAT?! 4 MONTHS ON FOOT?!!!!"
