The woman grinned "Good morning branch director." Her words sounded weird even for her. Katherine lifted an eyebrow while observing the latter in front of her. "What? Can't I greet my boss now?" Morgan was obviously taunting her. However Katherine decided to remain professional.

"Good morning to you too Miss Coleman. If there is nothing else please return to your seat." Still wearing a smirk she turns around and leaves. During the lunch break, Katherine decided to go to a nearby restaurant.

There, she was greeted by Carter a doctor and Katherine's childhood friend. He moved away when he was 14. They were reunited three years ago after Katherine had a minor accident and was admitted to the hospital. "Good afternoon beautiful." He had a Colgate smile as he sat down.

"Keep up with this and you will run out of compliments for your future wife." Katherine stuffed a meat ball into her mouth. "Well when that happens, I hope you take responsibility." Katherine playfully rolled her eyes. The waiter brings him some salad and juice. Katherine looked at him blinking rapidly. "Is this all you're going to have?" She stared at the salad. "Yep." He responds like nothing is wrong.

Katherine's lips are still parted as she stared at him dumbfounded. "Doctor Carter Hendrix!" "Yes?" He stared at Katherine in confusion. She sighed and took his plate and fork. "Hey I was eating that."

Katherine gave him a dirty look and turned her attention to both plates. Then she used her fork to pinch some of his salad onto her pasta and vice versa. She then gave him his plate back. "I will not have you guilt trip me for not dieting." She stated as a matter of fact.

Carter knew better than to argue with her. He obediently finished his food with a smile tugging at the corner of his lips. After having their fill Carter noticed her hand. "Where's your ring?"

She felt a prick in her heart, this caught her off guard. "I understand if you don't want to talk about. It not like it will stop me from hiring a hit man to take him down."

With a sigh she once again narrates what went down. "Wasn't there a chainsaw." He says right after she finished. "No, but Violet suggested a knife and vase." Katherine playfully joked. "Smart minds thing alike." He replied tapping his forehead with his forefinger.

He combed his hand over his wavy black hair. "Damn to call that guy trash would be an insult to trash. I'm so sorry you had to go through that. I know how serious you were about him only for this lose fool to f*ck up."

He brought his hand close to his chest and look her in the eye. "On behalf of all men we don't claim him." She chuckled. Seeing Carter really helped lift her mood and gave her energy to see through the day.

Unfortunately her high hopes were crushed when she was summoned to the CEO's office at the end of the day. "WHAT?" Katherine stood in front of him with total disbelief with what she just heard. A smirking Morgan repeated his words. "He said 'You've been demoted.'"

Katherine balled her fist and took a deep breath to keep herself from tearing the b*tches hair off. "May I know the reason?" "Do I need a reason to demote or fire MY employee? I do what I want with my company and its employees." He stated in a cocky tone.

"Yes you do Mr. Lawrence. The law is my witness... No... forget it, I quite." She turned around to leave. "Katherine, you know that is a breach of contract and you can be fined a hefty sum for that." A proud smirk appeared on his lips, while Morgan stood beside him with folded arms and a triumphant smirk. "My word against yours."

He added. Now it Katherine's turn to smirk "No, it's your word..." She took out her phone from the pocket of her pants and hit play ["Do I need a reason to demote or fire MY employee.

I do what I want with my company and its employees." "Yes, you do Mr. Lawrence. The law is my witness. No... forget it, I quite."] "Against yours. And Mr. Lawrence, we are no longer familiar with each other, the name is MISS FLORES."

She turned around and left without waiting for a response through their bewildered faces. She gave the secretary a polite smile. As soon as she got to her office she began tossing everything inside her box without a word to her team who kept asking with worried looks.

She smiled and told them about her resignation, imploring them not to worry, that she was okay. They helped her pack and talked her into have a goodbye meal with them. She had no choice but to agree with their insistence.

They went to a restaurant close by that served excellent food. She enjoyed her time with them made her feel a pang thinking of leaving them.

Soon they parted ways with a cheerful smile. She got to her apartment and peeled of her clothes and sunk into the couch. She was definitely not telling her friends about this less she wanted them to hire a hit man to take out Ray.

End of the second chapter thanks for sticking around. Notice the Zootopia reference... I'll see myself out.
