Complacency

Inexperienced!

If Emperor He Mo would have heard what the Sword Master behind him is thinking, he would have lost his cool and laugh hysterically!

This lady may have not been engaged to war yet, but she had annihilated an entire clan and killed his brother with no reluctance! Those fights are already equivalent to fighting in war!

Complacency and overestimating one's ability will lead to destruction.

Alas!

King Ru Ning has them both! He was overconfident of the Ru Elite Army's ability and he is convinced that they will be able to resist their enemies!

After hours of marching, they finally arrived at the border where the sight of the fallen soldiers wearing the imperial army uniform of Ru Empires was scattered all over the place. Broken armors and weapons are lying beside them.

The soldiers behind King Ru Ning could not help but gasp in disbelief!

"How could it be?" King Ru Ning looks defeated by the sight he just witnessed. Even Emperor He Mo could not help but release a deep sigh. Somehow, it was his idea to make these dead soldiers stand by.

They continue moving forward and followed the dead bodies' direction. Soon, they arrived at the Yellow River where the Huang Soldiers are still celebrating their victory.

The sight of the hundreds of battalion enemies in front of them took the Huang Soldiers by surprise. But their leader is at ease for they have laid formations that can easily pin down no matter how many enemies they have.

"Oh? The great King Ru Ning, you had just entered your grave!" the leader of the Huang Soldiers shouted and his comrades laugh loudly.

"This is perfect! We can add your head as a gift to our Emperor Huang Le!" another soldier of Huang Empire commented.

"Attack!"

King Ru Ning did not respond to the soldiers but ordered his imperial army to attack! He was overwhelmed with despair!

In a blink of an eye, his imperial army started advancing towards the Huang Soldiers. But as soon as they arrived at a certain location, some of them where petrified in a place!

King Ru Ning immediately noticed what had happened and looked at the helpless imperial army who seemed imprisoned in an invisible cage.

"What is this?" he muttered to himself. It was too unbelievable!

"It's a formation that captures beasts and humans." Zi Ye said and then moved forward as King Ru Ning and Emperor He Mo started their attacks.

Not far from their location, two groups are observing the battlefield. One group is the Formation Master Association while the other one is a killer. These two groups were both hired by Emperor Chi Xing to help in the battle against the Ru Army.

While the Formation Master Association had started their attacks together with the Huang Soldiers, the killer is just observing. He did not feel the need to move as he thinks that his opponents are too weak for him.

When the Formation Master Association leader noticed the companion of King Ru Ning, he paled! How could he not forget about his losses when he agreed to help the Qing Empire back then?

"We have to go! Now!" The leader said in a rush as he started running towards his horse.

His companions were baffled of his sudden reaction but still followed him. Then their group fled away from the Yellow River quietly.

The killer glanced at the group of Formation Master Association but did not mind them running away. He kept observing the battlefield with his keen eyes.

"I could probably consider the Sword Master with them as my opponent." the killer said as he secretly eyed Zi Ye.

Then his sight traveled to the lady who looks out of place on the battlefield.

"What kind of insane woman would wear a white garment in a battle?" he grumbled once again.

Then he noticed that some of the Huang Soldiers died in just a blink of an eye! The killer looked at the woman intently who is holding an ordinary sword.

As if the scene came in slow motion, the woman locked her eyes in his direction.

The killer was stunned as they made eye contact!

Their distance was too far to confirm if the woman did saw him but he felt her eyes glued on him!

The soldier continues to look at the woman as she is not paying attention to the enemies in front of her! To a soldier inside a battlefield, this action is a mistake that could cost their life! But to Ye Shin, her concentration has covered both the young Emperor He Mo and her companions. Most of her tiny blades are assisting the emperor.

A Huang Soldier lunges at Ye Shin and she is not even facing the enemy! She is still looking at the killer!

"What a stupid woman!" the killer mumbled but soon his eyes widened when the soldier who tried to slash the lady halted in the air. The attacker then dropped his weapon followed by his body on the ground!

"He was killed?" the killer asked in disbelief. Astonishment is evident in his eyes at what he had just witnessed!

He realizes that the lady is not an ordinary fighter! His heart beats with excitement as he thinks that he finally saw the right opponent for him.

The killer advances and moves forward while Ye Shin sends her blades to his direction!

She could feel a tremendous killing intention from the man!

As the blade reaches the killer, he managed to block it using his weapon!

"Clang!" the killer heard the sound of his weapon hit something.

Then the area where the blade hits had chipped off the metal on the corner of his blade!

"What a sharp weapon!" he secretly thought.

Another two blades went in his direction but he managed to dodge them! This killer is almost as fast as Ye Shin!

When he reached a few meters near the lady, Ye Shin's eyes suddenly turned blood shot red!

As if her eyes had grown a mind of its own, the eyes locked on to the killer like he is a prey needed to be caught.

It was the legacy!

The spiral sword suddenly splits and Ye Shin quickly tosses one of the weapons towards his direction while the other to the Huang Soldiers. This time, the killer did not have a chance to react or make a movement. The lady had thrown her weapon to his direction with such perfect precision! A sword struck at the killer and the man died almost instantly. Her other sword also claimed countless of enemies in one strike!

"Retreat!" the few remaining Huang Soldiers started to fall back. King Ru Ning did not give chase to them but attended to the soldiers who were imprisoned by the formation.

This time, the Huang Soldiers suffered heavy losses. They were complacent with the laid formations from the Formation Master Association and they have overestimated their strength against them. They have relied too much on their alliance with the Formation Master Association.

Zi Ye had been secretly observing Ye Shin while fighting against the soldiers of the Huang Empire. He saw how calm the lady when she lunges her attack. Even more, the lady did not have any dirt in her garments!

"How did you do that?" Zi Ye asked while looking at the lady. He secretly thanked his ancestors for not allowing him to avenge the death of La'er!

Such an incredible mastery in sword skill! In front of Ye Shin's ability, he is completely helpless!

"I am a sword cultivator." Ye Shin humbly responded before calmly went behind Emperor He Mo.

Zi Ye had noticed that the lady maintained her position on the emperor's back whenever they walk but he did not think too much at first. He is not clear of their relationship but there is also no extraordinary thing about seeing a lady hiding behind a man. After all, in this era, a man is obliged to protect a woman!

But for these two figures in front of Zi Ye, it is completely different! Now he finally realized that this lady does not need protection. Staying behind the back of the emperor meant she only want to support the man.

Based on what he had witnessed, the lady is capable of dominance! But no matter how terrifying her ability is, she does not intend to dominate nor overshadow the emperor!

Her action shows that she intends to be always on his back in every move and decision he make. Only this realization will come after he Zi Ye could not help but look at the two with admiration.

"Zi Ye, help King Ru Ning here! Follow his commands. I will make a detour and go to the Empire of Chi. You will serve as a distraction to the Huang's as we strike at the head of the Region A." Emperor He Mo said before he climbed on his horse.

Zi Ye is not knowledgeable of the empires in this region but he nods his head and agreed to the young emperor's arrangement.

Emperor He Mo did not wait for Zi Ye to speak as he hastily left together with Ye Shin.

Zi Ye stared at the two retreating figures until they were gone from his sight. He then walks towards the imprisoned soldiers and helped King Ru Ning destroy the formation.
