V.3 Chapter 17

In the morning after Kushina and Yukan spent a delightful night together, Kushina was cooking breakfast in the kitchen as Yukan continued to lazily lay in bed.

Suddenly, a knock came at the door.

Kushina noticed it but continued her work since she was kneading dough.

To her surprise, Yukan did not open the door.

"Hey Yukan, open the door."

"Mee? I'm in the bed, you open it, please?"

"I'm kneading the dough, don't be lazy Yukan," Kushina said.

"...Alright," Yukan said as he sadly parted from his pillow and got up from the bed. He quickly wore a vest lying in front of him and went to open the door.

When Yukan opened the door, he saw Kakashi with a swollen cheek and blackened eyes right in front of him.

"Why did you put on makeup like a clown?" Yukan asked as he yawned and walked outside the house, looking around.

Kakashi said nothing and silently stood there with a blank expression.

"...You know what, go inside, I'll talk to you later. Do eat breakfast," Yukan said as he pushed Kakashi inside the house and walked into his lawn.

He walked a little and stood in front of a tree. He appeared on the tree at the following moment, right next to a ninja in a black cloak.

"Improve your skill of stealth," Yukan said as he relaxingly sat right beside the ninja.

The ninja was a little surprised that Yukan detected him so easily. The ninja then calmly continued to say," Yukan-Sama, Hokage-Sama calls for you. There is an emergency."

"Hmm, an emergency? I'll go meet him right now." Yukan said as he jumped from the high tree and walked inside the house.

Yukan went straight to his room and changed into better clothes and walked down to the kitchen to inform Kushina about leaving before breakfast.

In the kitchen, he saw Kakashi wearing an apron and sitting at the dining table, cutting vegetables.

Yukan quickly went ahead and kissed Kushina on the cheek and left while saying," I'm leaving, see you later."

"Eh? But breakfast…"

"I'll eat later," Yukan said and left the house.

Kushina sighed once. She then looked at Kakashi and said," Hmm, what happened to your face?"

"This? This happened yesterday. I listened to Sensei's advice on girls and…"

-At the Hokage's Office-

Yukan peacefully stood in front of Hiruzen as he took a nap.

"He ain't dead, right?" Yukan said as he got a little closer and checked Hiruzen's pulse.

The movement made Hiruzen suddenly wake up. Seeing Yukan, he lowered his guard and said in an irritated voice," No I am not dead…You never change, kid, do you?"

Yukan shook his head jokingly and laughed.

Hiruzen laughed with him for a moment and then got serious.

"Alright, jokes apart, there is an emergency at Kumo's border. I would like you to go over there to stabilize the situation." Hiruzen said.

Yukan thought for a while but he nodded, agreeing to Hiruzen not much later.

"Yeah I knew you won't agree so easi– Wait, did you just agree?" Hiruzen asked in a surprised tone.

"I did. Though I can change my mind if you want me to…" Yukan answered.

"No, I was just surprised," Hiruzen replied.

"Haha alright. I need to go out of Konoha to do some work before that, so just letting you know." Yukan said as he exited the office.

Hiruzen sighed once and after he put some sheets aside and cleared some area on his table, he lay his head on it and went to sleep again.

As Yukan walked through the Hokage's building, a lot of people who started recognizing him, greeted him.

"Time to get grandpa's legacy… There are some more things to do too." Yukan said as he disappeared right from the middle of the building.

-Later-

After all the time Yukan spent in the Hokage's building and more time in a bar, it was around late in the evening. The sun had gone down and the nighttime in Konoha had started.

Seeing the time, Yukan went back to his house.

At the house, Kushina was alone.

"I'm home," Yukan said as he walked in, completely drunk.

"Welcome home… Why are you drunk? Did something happen?" Kushina asked as she supported Yukan in standing.

"Yeah, I'm leaving again in a few days," Yukan answered as his answer slowly changed into a mumble and he passed out on Kushina.

Kushina sighed and closed the door behind her. She then took Yukan inside their room and put him on the bed after helping the unconscious him change his clothes.

She lay down in the bed next to Yukan as the two slept through the night.

-A Few Days Later-

In a very dark room with only a ray of light piercing through the top, lay a man, sleeping. The room was surrounded by stones on every wall.

The man inside had a scary appearance. The only way to go in and out of the cell was also closed with strong steel bars, enough to restrain a ninja.

Suddenly, several men wearing Iwa ninja outfits came and hit a rod on the bars, causing the man to wake up.

"Wake up, traitor. It is time for your death." The man who hit the rod on the bar shouted.

The man woke up. His face entered the small ray of light and his appearance became clear. A tall man with red hair and grey eyes stood inside the cell.

He looked at the men outside with a straight face and walked towards the bars and extended both his hands towards them.

The man quickly took out something resembling handcuffs.

Only after the man's hands were cuffed together was the cell opened.

"Follow." One of the several men said and walked ahead along with several men beside him.

As everyone was walking, someone from the back hit the man with red hair on his back with a wooden spear.

"Faster." The one who hit said.

The man with red hair turned his head and looked at the other man, glared at him and then turned again.

As this was happening, suddenly, the man with red hair felt something get in his hands.

"This is the last one, Kiyotaka. You said these were your favourite, my friend." The man who had just hit whispered into his ear as he handed the red-haired one a pair of coloured marbles.

Kiyotaka, the red-haired man continued walking straight without any change from before other than his clenched fists.

"We're here." The leader of the Iwa ninjas, Getto, said as they exited the dark cave.

All the men divided and formed two lines at the border as Kiyotaka walked through the gap between them.

He stood at the end of a wooden platform as Getto laughed mockingly and started announcing as loudly as he could.

"Kiyotaka Masamura, red grade highest level criminal. Betrayal of the battalion. Killed 16 comrades. Punishment: Death." Getto announced and then opened the cuffs of Kiyotaka.

All this while, Kiyotaka continued to stare right into Getto's eyes, fearlessly and coldly as if he was out to kill.

Getto felt irritated by this and punched Kiyotaka hard in the face. "Look down, trash, you aren't my equal," Ghetto said as he picked up a big sword from his right.

"Any last wishes?" Ghetto said as he stood right beside Kiyotaka, ready to cut him.

"Yeah. Please tell my girlfriend that I love her." Kiyotaka said as he rubbed the few drops of blood on his cheek with his shoulder.

"Haha, sure. Where does she live?" Getto asked.

Kiyotaka once again looked Getto in the eyes and stared coldly as he said," Strange, don't you know where your own mother lives?"
