Cultivation

As soon as Gerald returns home, he pulled me out of his scabbard. Staring at me inquisitively he speaks. "Are you really an intelligent sword!?"

I respond "Yep, and I can get more powerful". This whole ordeal seems to be too much for Gerald to handle, as he begins succumbing to shock.

I quickly apply [Mental Fortitude] on him, and he becomes more level headed. This skill is really useful for situations like these.

After a pause, Gerald asks "How can you get more powerful?" This question is easy to answer "I can absorb other swords, learn skills, and cultivate"

Gerald has a dumbfounded expression, it seems that he is very surprised about this.

He looks at me "You said you had a cultivation technique?" Ah yes, I can now transmit the cultivation technique to him.

I do this, and the information appears in Geralds head. He meditates to understand it. I help him along with [Qi Manipulation]

He seems to get it, and can pull in the Qi himself. Since he is cultivating I guess I will cultivate too. We ended up cultivating the whole day, this isn't a problem for me but Gerald needs food.

[Host has gained one [Attack]

[Host has gained one [Durability]

During the night, Gerald opened his eyes. He is a bit stronger, and his skin is tougher due to going through refinement.

Of course, the same applies to me. I admire my shiny blade. Hmm, I look quite handsome...*cough* anyways.

I'm not really the talking type, so I won't try to communicate too often. The purpose of this communication was just to transfer the cultivation technique anyways.

"Are you still there Mr.Sword?" Dang it. I will just make up a lie to avoid conversation. "Talking with you requires energy, you need to help me get stronger"

That's pretty good if I do say so myself. Now he even has another incentive to strengthen me.

To celebrate starting cultivation, Gerald eats out and ended up devouring everything easily. As Gerald is begins walking home he hears the sounds of a young woman calling for help. No way, I've seen this scene in novels and anime too many times.

Luckily Gerald doesn't even seem to care as he continues leisurely. We ended up using the night for cultivation once again. But I didn't get any stat gains this time.

The next morning, Gerald reports back to the Courtyard. The commander has a grave expression as he speaks. "The Princess was murdered last night in this very city, some near the scene reported hearing a cry for help"

You're joking. Gerald avoided a cliche and just minded his own business, only for him to lose out on the chance to save a princess!?!?

From now on I believe in karma. There is no use crying over spilt milk, so I continue to be attentive to what the commander is saying.

"The Emperor and Empress demand an explanation, and we are running low on manpower. From here on, I order you to investigate the death of Princess Yue"

The soldiers stand at attention, eager to get them selves in good graces with the royal family. They immediately disperse, running around the city to look for clues.

Gerald remembers the cry for help from last night, and his eyes light up. Of course, he can't say that he heard someone calling for help and just ignored it, especially if it turned out to be the princess.

He keeps silent since he can't think of a good lie, and runs away. He makes a beeline towards the place he heard the cry. Gerald spent the whole day snooping around in every alley, but to no avail.

Gerald is going to need more people to help search this area, but also needs to get credit for it and conceal his neglect of duty.

I already have an idea of how he could accomplish this, but I want to see if Gerald can think of a solution by himself. I practically see the cogs turning in his head as he brainstorms.

Suddenly, Gerald exclaims "If I heard that scream close to the restaurant last night, then other people should've as well!" Gerald could just interrogate them, and then he would a have a valid reason to ask the commander to send people to search here.

It's already late see we return home and cultivate, and the next morning Gerald marched over to the restaurant and asked the staff if they heard any strange noises two days ago. Both of them said that they heard shrill screams, but couldn't be bothered to go see what it was

Gerald asked them were the scream was coming from, and they pointed over to the same area were Gerald heard the screams. Gerald thanked them, and was on his way.

Quickly making his way to the Courtyard, Gerald informed the commander of his findings and said that the area is large and would need many people to investigate.

The commander agrees and allows Gerald to take a contingent of guards to investigate.
