SWITCH

Some girls dream of marrying a prince. But a few of this "some girls" take dreaming to a whole new level. On the red corner, we have Erika Hatsugawa, a self-proclaimed "the future empress of Japan", who has been in love with the Emperor's son since she first saw the Emperor's son....in pictures. However, her dream seems to contradict with what fate gave her. Being in the type of status that she is in at the moment, it is bizarre how she set her eyes on actually marrying the prince. It is almost impossible (even me as a writer finds it it impossible) but there's always the "what-if" phenomenon. Erika's family was never blessed with fortune. They are living the substandard life, eating substandard food, and having substandard ways, but Erika never thought being in that state forever. Her goals are so high, she is actually flaring the "monarch's life" within her it started to become quite cringing for the people around her. Meanwhile on the blue corner, we have Kairo Moriyama, who is probably the most boring person Erika has ever met. There is no special role for him except that he's actually everywhere Erika is. It was rude to think this way though, since this Kairo Moriyama is blessed with looks and overwhelming charisma, which is something Erika quite hated about him, making him the main target for her bullying. However, given the fact that he's indeed everywhere, it is safe to assume that this is destiny's game. Who would've thought that Kairo Moriyama is the main key to make her dreams come true. Will Erika succeed in attaining the life that she wanted? Will there be a switch for her dreams to come true and change her life from poverty to wealth? Explore her story as you join this ride where dreams can come true..... or not. This is SWITCH.

Day One

Just what kind of shit did I just fell into?! I didn't even do those. Why do I have to be the one to pay the debt of another person?!

These are the words that circulate in Kairo's mind while he walked with Erika, going to school, carrying both their bags. On the other hand, Erika seems to be in a good mood that she earned herself a personal servant. It was obvious by how she was skipping on her steps happily.

"Good morning, Kairo, Erika." Himari went in between the two as she tapped both their shoulders but she was quick to realize Kairo's agony. "What is going on?"

"Himari-chan..... Help me." Kairo whimpered helplessly.

"Help you with what?"

"Help me with my life..."

Himari furrowed her eyebrows. "The hell?"

"Can you believe it? He is Kairo Moriyama, you know the dirty pervert back then in middle school?" Erika interrupted as she crosses her arms.

"Are you sure they just don't share the same name? That's a big accusation, Erika."

"I'm not making this up! They share the same birthday, we checked in the yearbook yesterday! It's too much of a coincidence for two people with the same name to share the birthday as well. He must be THE Kairo Moriyama. "

Himari looked suspiciously at Kairo after hearing that remark. She even inspected the guy from head to toe to which Kairo trembled with the intensity of her stare.

"Well it'll be too much of a coincidence if you really are a different Kairo, Kairo #2. I mean.... It's a birthday. It's not an ordinary day. Sorry but I can't bail you out on this one." Himari sighed.

"Why are people easily believing this crap?! I told you, I didn't do it." Kairo protested.

"Just carry my bag and stop blabbering, will ya?" Erika walks ahead of Kairo, leaving even Himari behind.

"Oh don't you worry about this, Kairo-kun. It not like Erika will make you do something sketchy. And besides, this just maybe a lame excuse for asking you to be her friend." Himari said and pats Kairo's head.

"A FRIEND?! Why does it feel like she doesn't want me as a friend but instead as a pet?"

Before the students disintegrate into individual human beings, Shinichiro-sensei took his time to reveal his special announcement.

"A week from now will be our Sports Festival. Aside for being an excuse for you guys to engage in physical activites, this is an opportunity for everyone to get along especially for you freshmen. By the way in this event, no one is allowed to just sit down. Everyone is encouraged, no not encouraged, mandated to participate."

"Eeeeeehhh?" Shinichiro-sensei's announcement was followed by a lazy groan from his class. It's not like he did not expected that. Nobody seems to be that enthusiastic when it comes to the event. Probably because it requires a lot of energy.

"I knew you wouldn't be that motivated when it comes to this, that's why the faculty have discussed what the reward would be for the class who would be the overall champion." All of a sudden, every student sat so erectly as if waiting for the reward announcement.

"The class who would win this event will be the class who'll decide the venue for the school trip."

"FOR REAL?! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!"

The students suddenly became energetic and they started talking to each other. A student even excitedly ran towards the adviser and grabbed him by his shoulders. "Seriously sensei?!"

"Yes, seriously. But can you sit down?"

"What an opportunity! This would actually be fun! We can go to Hawaii if we wanted to!"

"Hawaii is fun but we can also go to Bali!"

"I heard Palawan is a really great place!"

"I know everyone is excited about this, but do remember, this reward will be given to the winning class. The WINNING class.... So everybody has to do their best in order to win." Shinichiro said while rubbing the bridge of his nose. Despite being stressed by the noise, their reactions got him amused though.

"We can even go visit the imperial palace." Erika softly said in her own daydream. "MORIYAMA! WE HAVE TO DO OUR BEST!"

"Hah..." Kairo said lazily as he was looking blankly on an empty space.

"Why aren't you excited? Isn't there a place that you wanted to go badly?"

"Well if you're gonna ask me about that..... Probably somewhere away from you." Kairo grinned sheepishly to which it was followed by Erika's eraser throw.

"So now that everyone is fired up.... Matsuyama and Moriyama, you two will list the roster for our entries. Everyone is entitled to play in at least one game. I'll also give you extra points depending on the ranking you'll be in, individually. That's a lot of reward guys, so by now everyone should have the desire to win."

"Don't worry sensei! We'll have the championship trophy!"

"Well isn't that reassuring?" The teacher chuckled a bit and after so, the lunch bell rang. "Okay. You guys are dismissed."

---------

"Kiss my ass!"

"I might be your slave at home, but here in school, I am the boss (class representative) so you will bend to my will!"

"Aren't you being a little bit too arrogant, huh Moriyama?" Erika's lip twitches in humiliation while she was dealing with the devil right now.

"I'm sorry, Your Highness, but you are the only one whose name isn't assigned yet in any of the games. So you'll really have to comply." Kairo tapped his pen on the blackboard while he was staring at Erika, who was currently being encircled by 3 of Kairo's loyal subjects.

"Since we're you able to manipulate our classmates?! GODDAMN IT!!! LET ME GO!!!" Erika protested in the middle of the human cage.

However, Kairo just devilishly smiled at Erika as he slowly walked closer towards her. "I will sign your name on the relay whether you like it or not. You.... just be a good girl." Kairo playfully pinched her cheeks before patting her head and going on his way to the faculty room.

"Sorry Erika, it is mandatory for everyone to participate. Just take your revenge on the guy right after the fest, 'kay?" Himari apologetically said to Erika before following Kairo. A few seconds later, she was released by the underlings.

"Kairo Moriyama you bastard!!! I'll get back at you for this!!!" Erika exhaled sharply as she fixed herself right after being humiliated. Although she did not kind of mind it, some of her classmates generously took their time to gossip.

"Why is Kairo-kun being too close with that woman anyway?"

"So annoying. She just wants to be noticed by Kairo-kun."

"She wouldn't act like that if she was persuaded some other person."

"Annoying."

"Flirt."

Erika was used to these words, but just because she's used to it doesn't mean that she's not affected by it. Her fists clenched in frustration as she swallowed everything they said, lifted her chin up and decided to walk her way up to the rooftop alone.

It's not like she's trying to be liked by everyone. But at this point, she thinks there is something wrong with how she works her way up to her goal. Yes, she wanted to be the Empress of Japan. But if you wanna be a leader, you should also be charismatic. All this time, her way of thinking had been one sided. It's funny how she just realized it now.

"Maybe I should try to be more like Moriyama. He seems to be a very good leader after all....." she mumbled to herself. "But a big asshole too. Tch."

She turned around and slowly fell leaning on the bars that separate her from the very ground she's stepping in, to the height of the campus. The rooftop has always been her safe haven. In here, she could finally achieve the silence she could never have inside the classroom.

"Why was I hated again?" she tilted her head. "Because I'm obnoxious, loud-mouthed and annoying?"

"It's because you're self-centered."

Aahhh, here we go again. Looks like anxiety decided to accompany her once again.
