14 I Am Not My Mother's Son!

Another round of silence ensued.

Then John finally musters the courage to air his side.

"I don't know what to say to you, Dad. I do not hate you though, I'm just upset and stunned with your revelation, that's all," John said. He realized that there are just some things in life that are out of control of every human being, and one of that is that you can never choose who your parents are, in his case, he got one father and two mothers. Does he have to make a big deal out of it? Does he have to hate his father because of his previous mistake? Nah, he can't swim in negativity again. Some things can never be changed and one of them was past events.

John chose to face the future with a positive mindset. Besides he loves his father so much, he would become a heartless son if he will hate and condemned his father because of just one mistake, and the product of that mistake is him, in short, if his father and Susan did not have an affair, he was probably not born today.

He smiled at his father.

Hector feels immense relief flooding his senses after knowing that his son did not hate him, he feels like a big rock has been lifted off from his chest and he feels a little bit lightheaded. "Thank you, son, it's just one mistake. But the product of that big mistake is the best son that I ever have in this lifetime. I want you to know that I'm so proud of you and your accomplishment in life," tears shone in his eyes.

"My biological mother, Susan, where did she live?" John asked feeling interested.

"Good question son... just tell me if you are ready to meet her, I can arrange a meeting for the two of you. She's been dying to meet you, she's been trying to find you all her life."

"Does she have many children?" John asked.

"She has one son with her deceased husband...I think the name was Mike...Mike Santos. Susan is the owner of one of the leading confectionery companies in our country...The Sweet Delight Confectionery Company. Your biological mother is a businesswoman," Hector said.

John's eyes widened. "Mike Santos w-was her son?"

"Yes, does his name sounds familiar to you?" Hector asked.

"Yes, sort of. One of Catherine's suitor who offered her marriage is named Mike Santos. I think it's just a coincidence, Dad," John said.

"Son, would you like to meet your biological mother? She's been dying to see you," asked Hector again.

"I have no problem meeting her but just tell me the truth first, did you and my biological mother rekindled your affair recently?" John asked.

Hector shook his head. "No. I only meet her after I got back from the US, we only meet twice because we are discussing about you. I have no plans to resume our relationship because I don't want to betray your mother again. One mistake is enough for me, rest assured son...that I am not doing any monkey business behind my wife's back."

John sighed. Meeting his biological mother is not a problem. Well, maybe he was such a lucky guy, after all, he got two mothers who love him unconditionally, he can't complain though. "I'm willing to meet my biological mother Susan, within this week, Dad."

"Okay, I will arrange a meeting between you two, Susan will be very happy to meet you again this time as a mother and son," Hector said. "But we should keep this a secret from your mother Clara for the meantime, okay, son?"

John agreed. "Okay Dad," he responded. He stood up ready to leave the office. "I will go now, back to Catherine and my babies, Dad," he said.

Hector nodded his head. "Go ahead, son."

John exited the office and went to the elevator area. He sighed. What a revelation! He never expected that his father hides a secret from his family for a long time. He just can't believe that he was not his mother's biological son. It's still a bit hard believing everything right now, he had a difficult time reconciling everything in his mind. It will take a long time to get used to the fact that he is not his mother's real son. But in spite of the revelation, he will always consider Clara as her real mother. When it comes to the genuineness of a mother's love he never felt that Clara treated her differently, she treated her two sons equally.

He went out of the elevator and entered his dwelling, he walked straight towards the master bedroom and opened the door.

Inside the bedroom.

Catherine was changing baby Angel's cloth diaper in the bed, while baby James was wriggling his chubby arms and legs looking at the colorful toys attached to his crib while his little mouth was producing cute baby sounds.

Catherine looked at her husband and saw something in his face that wasn't there earlier...

"Are you okay, hubby?" she asked.

John smiled at his wife. "I'm fine," he lifted baby James from his crib and placed his son on his chest while lying on the bed.

"What did your father tell you?" Catherine asked.

"He told me that I am not my mother's real son, that I am his son with his ex-mistress named Susan Santos, their illicit relationship happened a long time ago," he said.

Catherine gasp, she was astounded. "OMG!...really?"

"Yes, and my biological mother wants to meet me and wants to know me up close and personal, and another thing, Susan has another son named Mike Santos...my half brother...does that name ring a bell to you, Cath?"

Catherine wracked her brains trying to search in her memory where she heard that name. "It does sound familiar, hubby," she said.

"You remember that guy in the hotel that proposed marriage to you? His name is Mike Santos, isn't it?"

Catherine nodded. Oh my! Of course! It's her friend, Mike!

John put baby James back in the crib, he retrieved his laptop from the table and power it on, then he began typing Susan Santos in the search bar, there were photos of Susan along with a guy in front of a bakery, it's more like a ribbon-cutting ceremony, then there's another photo of Susan in her office with The Sweet Delight company logo behind her back, it's a local magazine cover interview.
