27 l’ll Kill Her!

A chuckle of disbelief resounded in the room.

"I don't want to know," Adeline said, irritation growing in her gaze with every passing second.

Dimitri's lips curled into a smirk, one of his hands suddenly gripping her chin and causing her cheeks to puff out on either side.

"I thought of really punishing and inflicting pain on you," he hummed hatefully. "But as generous as I was, I decided to let it go. You were intoxicated after all. Maybe, that was what got to your empty skull."

"You are wrong." A sudden emotionless smile made its way to Adeline's deadpan expression, her eyes staring at him as though he were stupid. "Intoxicated or not, I did what I did with a sound mind. I knew what I was doing, and I went ahead with it. Don't contradict yourself, Dimitri, and think that I won't repeat it if you dared force yourself on me again."

Dimitri's eyes flickered with a spark of anger, sharpening his focus. He grasped a good chunk of her hair and jerked her head back. "I really hate this mouthy behaviour you've suddenly developed. You don't know when to keep quiet anymore."

"Makes me wonder. Did your mommy's death really hurt you that much?" He was making a taunting face, amusement glinting in his eyes.

Adeline's body shuddered, breath shaky in absolute hatred. "Get out of my way." There was obvious pain in her tone.

But Dimitri instead began to kiss her throat and licked all the way to the side of her lips with his wet tongue.

Adeline felt like gagging, and immediately extended her hand out, gripping his ear with the intention of ripping it off.

"Leave me alone!!" she shouted at him.

"Adeline!!" Dimitri yelled at the sudden, bone-chilling pain that coursed through his whole body and quickly let go of her, taking a few staggering steps back. "You damned woman!!" A wicked gleam shone in his eyes, and both orbs were flooded with a tainted kind of rage.

He stepped forward with the intention of putting her in her place, but Adeline was quick to reach for the lantern at the mini table close to the bed.

"Come close if you dare, Dimitri." She vehemently narrowed her gaze on him, daring him.

Dimitri was beyond startled and shocked, unable to look away from her.

Adeline couldn't exactly tell what was going through his mind, but she could very well ascertain that he wouldn't be taking any steps toward her any time soon.

"You are crazy, Adeline! You are a crazy woman! Look at what you're becoming!" he screamed at her, his hand cupping his sore left ear.

Adeline straightened up, relaxing. "And it's all your fault. This is what you wanted."

"My fault?" Dimitri laughed, finding her ridiculous. "You're going to regret this someday, Adeline, I promise you. By the time you'll come crawling, I won't even be willing to look at your face," he spat, his ears steaming red in fury.

"Let's see how well a useless good-for-nothing picked-up garbage like you will do without me!" He stormed out of the room, slamming the door shut.

Adeline stared at the door with a blank expression, breathing heavily.

"We'll see who crawls."

_________

"Sir!" A woman dressed in fitted leather pants and a compression shirt stormed into the office, slamming the door shut.

Her blonde hair flowed all the way past her shoulder in curly waves, very well complimenting her gray eyes, which were currently filled with displeasure.

She stood with her arms akimbo.

"Diana, get out of my office." Caesar's sudden voice was deep, filled with irritation. He was seated on the one-man sofa in his office, his legs crossed, his head thrown back, and his right arm covering his eyes.

On his lap was a white Scottish fold breed of cat with sharp hazel eyes and ears folded, bending forward and down towards its front head. His free hand was combing through its soft furs.

The woman, Diana, balled her fists and moved closer to him. She dropped her hands on either arm of the seat and leaned into him. "Sir, where were you yesterday?" She appeared tense, with a serious expression.

Caesar removed his hand and blinked open his forest-green eyes to meet her gaze. "It's awfully late to be barging into my office, don't you think?"

Diana's grip on the armrest of the chair tightened, and she painfully bit into her lower lip, drawing blood.

"You smelled of another woman last night, sir. Who was it?" she questioned.

"Have you lost it?" Caesar's eyes grew dark.

"Why the fuck do you know what I smelt like?" He pushed her off, stood up carefully with his cat in his arms, and walked over to the wine rack in his office.

His long fingers moved across the different brands of wine, and he snatched a bottle of 'Chateau Margaux.'

Diana's shoulder heaved up and down as she watched him lay the cat down and pour himself a fine glass of wine. "Sir, y-you're not seeing another woman, are you?"

"Another?" Caesar smirked at the word. He swung himself into a seated position on the couch, his elbows resting on his knees.

"Hmm," he droned. "What if I am? What does that have to do with you?"

Diana's eyes immediately narrowed a fraction, growing angrier than they were a second ago. She stormed over to stand in front of him and bit down on her lip, drawing blood yet again. The taste of metal was rough on her tongue.

"It's that woman, isn't it?" she asked, certainty brimming in her pupils. "Nikolai drove you last night to meet with her, I know that much!"

Caesar immediately lifted his head to scowl at her. "Are you still stalking me?"

He was surprised—first that Diana had been able to stalk him without either Nikolai or him noticing. Perhaps, because he was too busy to notice, or maybe because she'd hidden her scent with a scent patch.

That had to be it!

Diana wasn't just any ordinary woman. She was an excellently trained assassin whom his father had recruited five years ago into their Red Night Pack to do his dirty work for him without leaving any unwanted trace.

He had to admit to her startling skills—she was really good, he'd seen it with his own eyes. But tolerating her was one thing he had found too hard.

She had grown to be so obsessed with him over time that he sometimes failed to understand the reason.

What sort of love was it? If you could even call it love. She'd creeped him out with her behavior so many times that if not for his self-control and her skills, he would have discarded her.

He'd done everything possible to force her away from him, but somehow, she always found her way back.

Diana gritted her teeth, growing furious with each passing second. "I am. I always have to stalk you, sir, otherwise, I wouldn't know who might take you away from me."

"Diana!" Caesar growled her name. She was draining his patience little by little. "I would have honestly gotten rid of you if not for your useful skills and my old man."

"Be careful with me."

His lingering voice was sharp as a blade in Diana's ears as she began to frantically bite her nails off. She was looking around, seeming to be pondering something. This caused Caesar to run his eyes down her slender body and back to her face before looking away in disbelief.

"I'll kill her!" Diana blurted out, still biting onto her fingers. "I'll kill her! No one can have you, sir. Only me, no one else. You belong to me, sir, and-"

The sudden, ill-darkened glance from Caesar shut her up instantly.

Rising slowly from the sofa, he asked, "What did you just say?"
