The Lucky One

After getting back at the deck, Alejandro placed Selena on the bench and kneeled in front of her. His hands held her foot to check her ankles, he had his phone's flashlight on to have a good look at her injury.

He sighed, seeing how it's swelling, he figured that it will take days before Selena could walk properly.

He twisted her ankle in a different direction but, the moment her foot move, the girl squealed like someone was killing her.

"There are some Orthopaedic doctors here. Wait here and I will have someone to check your ankle," he got up after placing the blanket he brought earlier on Selena's shoulder but, she pulled him back to sit next to her.

"I am fine. Daniella can fix it faster than anyone," her voice was low, her eyes were glooming though she doesn't know why.

Seeing Alejandro's ex-fiancée in his cabin, with nothing but underwear, she could not help but think that something had happened between them.

She sighed, thinking if she should continue liking him. She was not even good at kissing, the last man she had kissed was Kirby and that was a decade ago.

She cried inside if she had known that Alejandro likes women with experience. She would have practiced her kissing skills.

She kept sighing, while Alejandro next to her remained silent, waiting for her to break the silence.

"So," Selena bit on her lower lips. She wanted to know about Alejandro's relationship with Tiffany.

"You can ask anything Selena," he turned his face to look at her, and when she looked back, their lips smiled at the same time.

Selena lamented; she chewed her lower lips as she stayed staring at him.

Her hands reached out for his cheeks, as it landed, a faint giggle let out from her lips.

She finds it ludicrous to ask him about his past lover. It was inappropriate. So, she decided to forget it and, focus on building their relationship.

"Nothing," she said sweetly, matching is with a candy-like smile.

Alejandro seized her hands from caressing his cheeks, he lowered it to his lip and rained it with small kisses.

Selena could feel his warm lips against the back of her palm. Every kiss brought shiver down her spine. She finds it romantic – enough for her to momentarily forget that her ankle was hurting.

"So, when did you realize that you like me?" Alejandro asked in a husky tone, his big hands locked up hers, and gently gripping it from time to time.

"Hm," Selena's lips twitched, unsure what to answer.

When was it? She thought.

Since they met at the airport, his aloofness has been tattooed in her mind. There were moments where she would ask Barney about Alejandro and, listening to him has made her feel that she had known him for years.

(So, did I like him because of his personality?) she asked herself, this time, her eyes were looking at the sky.

(No, he was pretty rude so, no) her head shook, she finds it abnormal that she's having arguments in her mind.

Then she returned her eyes to look at him, and seeing the gentleness on his face, Selena smiled and found her answer.

"I guessed I started liking you when you saved me at the hospital," remembering the incident that happened in the hospital has made her laugh.

And seems like Alejandro understood the reason for her smile. He instantly moved away, both hands were hugging himself on the chest part while his face was painted with shock.

"Hey, Selena Su. What kind of dirty thoughts do you have in your mind," he pretended to scold her, looking horrified as he kept his distance from her.

Selena's laugh went louder, her shoulder shook as she tried to stretch her arms to grab him closer.

"Don't worry Alejandro. I will go easy on you," she rode his drama and, tauntingly said those words, biting her lower lips like a maniac.

Alejandro smiled; amusement was in his eyes as he stared at Selena's face.

Then he got up after seeing her hand reaching for him, he took a step back, a teasing smile was painted on his lips.

But Selena is determined to get him, she hastily got up and about to ran after him when she felt a pain stabbing her ankle.

"Ouch!" she yelled in pain and sat back on the chair. Alejandro worriedly rushed to her, he tried to check on her ankle when Selena suddenly tossed the blanket over his body, locking him like a baby.

Alejandro's eyes narrowed. He could easily remove it but, he decided to stay, the material was warm and the scent of Selena was attached to it.

He squeezed her at the end of the bench, and with the blanket over his shoulder, he pulled Selena to embrace and let her feel the warmness of the blanket.

"It's cold here. I think we should stay close together," he whispered in her ear.

He heard her exhaled, a shaky and long sigh.

"If you are not comfortable. I can get another blanket," he whispered once again.

Instead of replying, Selena wrapped her hands around his arm.

At midnight, under the moonlight. The two spoke like there was no tomorrow.

They shared stories about their life, their past relationship and family history though, both left out some important details, information that couldn't be shared.

"Alejandro?" Selena called out her name.

"Hm?" he softly mumbled.

"When did you realize that you like me?" she stayed staring at the space, patiently waiting for his reply.

"I have liked you even before. The infamous snub princess. When Maddie introduced us, you were either busy or looking at that boy," she could hear the sadness in his voice but, it didn't exceed her shock by knowing that he had seen her before and worst, even know her reputation.

It took some time before she could move on. She couldn't remember it exactly. All she knows was that her friend Maddie, one time introduced her to medical staff.

Alejandro was right, she was indeed marked as a snub princess at her school. From high school to university, she always looked at someone with disgust but, she had changed.

"Who was the boy you are talking about?" she curiously asked.

Then, Alejandro place his index finger on her chin and slowly turn her face to look at him, "Maddie called him Anders," he replied short.

Selena was dumbfounded, was she really staring at Anders so much that a stranger even noticed it. She sighed, and momentarily lowered her eyes to his chest while his finger remained on her chin.

Then, she looked into his eyes, with her lips gradually parting, she sweetly said, "Don't worry. From now on, I will only have my eyes on you," her melancholic voice faded after she placed a small kiss on his cheek.
