22 Chapter 22: Adam Goes Shopping

Mall, City B, Bahran Country.

A small group of people who seems to be waiting for something are gathering in front of the medium sized mall in City B. In this group, a handsome young man who have a cold expression and icy aura is surrounded by a hundred silver skeletons and a few unkempt people.

This group is Adam and company who are planning to loot the supplies in the mall.

' When was the last time I went inside a mall? *sigh*. It's probably when I was less than 8 years old.' Adam said to himself remembering how his life had become a mess in his last life. Having workaholic parents and being hospitalized half of his life, he completely missed that golden age of childhood.

' Huuu! No need to be depressed. At least I can visit the mall again in this life. ' Adam said positively not even considering that the mall on Earth is completely different from the mall here.

The other people who didn't know Adam's inner feeling just kept quiet and glance at the young man from time to time.

' System, it's been a long time since I last got those broken fragments. Isn't this drop rate very low? Why don't you adjust it a little so that we can play with the special item from the other dimensions together.' Adam said taking advantage of the situation where Gil and others are behaving to talk with his system.

Ding!

" Processing host's request... initializing.... request failed.

The host didn't have enough authority to perform task. "

' Oh come on! I'll keep it a secret between us. I won't tell anybody, I promise. ' Adam said trying to negotiate.

Ding!

" The host doesn't have enough enough authority to process the request. "

*sigh*

' Fine. You're getting stingy with me, system. That's not good you know. I know a lot of stingy guys who received heavenly retribution and suffer the anger of Gods. You be careful yourself. Don't say I didn't mind you! ' Adam said trying to sound with the system.

Ding!

" What the host is saying is impossible to occur. If a God will try to touch the [ system ], the [ defense mechanism ] will eliminate the said [ God ]."

Adam's expression stiffened for awhile.

'There's this kind of operation!!!!!'

" System, you're joking right. That's a God. Gods are powerful you know. " Adam said nervously towards the system. The system is not cursing him to die is it?

' Oh my God! Don't let lightning hit me. It's not me who said it, it's the system. ' Adam said his prayer directly pushing at the forefront.

After this fiasco, the devil bugs had once again gathered towards Adam, indicating that the mission given to them were completed.

The bugs and skeleton can't actually speak but as their summoner, Adam can understand what they actually want to convey. This connection is very hard to explain and even Adam can only vaguely feel the secret behind it.

After knowing what the devil bugs wants to say, Adam instructed them to guard the entrance to the mall as he and the rest went inside to forage for supplies.

" The food section is on the first floor, left wing of the mall. We should check it out first." Adam said to the team.

The team can only nod towards Adam and follow his steps.

As Adam was leading the group, he spotted a toy car displayed in a glass frame.

' It looks like Bumblebee!!! So awesome! ' Adam said excitedly inside seeing a black and yellow toy car.

Adam only glued his eyes on the car and never take the move to get it. He knew that if the people here see him get excited over a toy car, the cold image that he was able to build would be destroyed. Therefore, Adam can only cry inside and painfully averted his eyes from the toy car which had a price displayed worth more that what an average joe wear on his body. ' Limited edition. That's probably a limited edition...' Adam mumble to himself.

Gil and the others didn't have any idea why Adam paused on his step. ' Is their some sort of powerful zombies? ' Thinking that Adam may have sense that a powerful zombie might be nearby, the muscles of the team become tight and get their selves ready for a bloody struggle. But after waiting for some time, no zombie ever came.

Even though they want to know what is going on, the people around Adam didn't have the courage to question his actions. ' This may be only a quirk of those powerful people to intimidate the weaker and poor one like us.' everyone thought and sigh in how unfair life is.

After crying inside over the fact that Adam will not have any fate with Bumblebee, he gave a long sigh and tried to continue on his way very depressed. ' So this is what it feels like to like something but you don't have the money to buy it. *sob* Our meeting was short but I'll keep your memory for a lifetime, Bumblebee.'

As Adam was walking in pain and crying his heart out inwardly, Arthus glanced at where his [ lord ] had set his eyes on. And in there he saw an inconspicuous yellow car. Arthus approach the car and picked it up and brought it to Adam.

" [ Lord ],...what is this...fragile thing for? " Arthus said handing the toy car to Adam.

' Arthus, I never knew you were such a great wingman. You just took the first step as a qualified little brother of the gang. ' Adam said emotionally inside but still showing a cold exterior forcing himself not to show a hint of expression.

" This? It's a toy car. Children likes to play with this and some uses it for collection. You want to have this Arthus? " Adam said while taking the toy car immediately activating [ infinite production ].

' I am the son of a system who can even threatens the Gods! What qualification does the heaven have to separate my fate with bumblebee?!' Adam said shouting inside towards the sky.

Then a glass suddenly shattered almost making Adam jump on his legs.

' I'm joking! I'm joking! ' Adam shouted in plea.

Looking where the glass has shattered, he realized that it was only a hanging piece who finally can't struggle with the ever powerful big brother gravity.

* Sigh *

Arthus on the other hand can't understand his [ lord ]. The lord is the one who glued his eyes on it. Why is he saying that it's me who wants it. Is it possible that the [ lord ] want to give a gift to me? Arthus become excited with the thought.

" Yes...my [ lord ],...Arthus like this toy car. " He replied to his sovereign while carefully tucking the toy car in his arm afraid that others would eye what the [ lord ] has bestowed to him.

' Don't you dare.'

Arthus even gave a deadly glance towards Gil and others including the skeletons. As for the poor recipients of Arthus' hostility, they only felt their backs getting cold from the sudden killing intent.

' What did we do?!!! ' The people wailed inside.

" Since Arthus like it you should keep it. As for the name... let's name this toy car Bumblebee then. " Adam said not forgetting to add icing to the cake.

' It would be nice if this car can also transform. '

Arthus became happier after understanding the intention of his [ lord ]. He then promised to himself that he would make the toy car his greatest possession and will forever keep it safe from harm.

After achieving the desire of having the toy car, Adam once again happily lead the group towards the food section.

Along the way, Adam found some utensil and made a quick copy of it. He didn't need to become wary of people seeing him touch kitchenwares right? So Adam goes window shopping right that instant.

Gil and others can only thought to their selves how different powerful people from them are. Look! Even kitchenwares must be properly scrutinized during the apocalypse.

After awhile, Adam left contentedly as his arsenal in the kitchen increases. ' Variety of food can now be done. There is even a stove ( butane stove ) that had a little gas tank attach to it. '

Finally, they reached the food section. Seeing that their are no zombies around, Adam can only give a thumbs up to towards the ancient devil bugs for their work efficiency.

" The shelves are in a mess. It will take a lot of time to get what we need here. Let's divide ourselves for now. Each of you will have ten skeletons to help you in gathering what you need." Adam instructed to the group.

Gil and the rest didn't object to Adam's arrangement and as the team's leader, Gil started assigning what each member will prioritized to get.

The rest of the team then went on their respective aisles to start gathering supplies. Canned goods having a long shelf life is the priority for the team, therefore, 2 groups were assigned to it.

And on the other is taking a stroll around scanning every item he like. As he have other people around him, he can only prioritizes what he likes. Scanning an item takes 10 seconds and judging from the large variety of goods present, it will took a very long time to finish everything. But Adam didn't care about this.

' I am the boss here. Judging from the experience of this Gil and company, no one have the air of the protagonist. So, even if I bully them a little, I won't die in this story. '

Adam harshly judged, directly sorting the poor people as side characters like him.
