The Fight! (1)

The classroom turned silent as they looked at the booming source, and then they heard— "You never talk about my family."

Auric said that with a blank face, devoid of emotion, but his piercing sharp eyes made everyone's hair stand on end as they listened to his chilly voice.

"What's going on here?!" Everyone suddenly heard a voice.

Auric looked over and saw the owner of the voice, a man with a bald head and a scar on his head.

"Instructor Dennis! The new kid attacked my friend without any reason!" The guy who was talking earlier with the beaten-up guy now lying on the ground with blood oozing from his wound, said.

"Call the healer," Dennis said.

"Yes!" A girl ran out to call the healer.

Instructor Dennis came forward and touched the injured guy's veins, feeling his nerves.

"Are you the one who did this?" he asked.

"Yes."

"Why?"

"They were talking about my family."

"What are you, a kid?"

"Kid or not, no one talks about my family."

"What if I say something ill?"

Pausing for a second and looking at the guy lying on the ground, he said, "Then you will be there."

Listening to his words, all of the class was shocked. They had never witnessed anyone say something like that to an instructor.

"HAHAHA! I like you, kid. Bravery! I like it." The instructor laughed out, but then suddenly the room filled with an intense aura, "But kid, that bravery is gonna get you killed."

Pressure and weight built up on Auric, and he felt the force bearing down on him.

"It doesn't matter," Auric replied, standing. Although clearly struggling, he thought, 'This is nothing like the patriarch's aura.'

Then, suddenly, the aura vanished into thin air, and Dennis said, "Alright then."

'This clan truly likes putting pressure on children. It must run in the blood.' Auric thought as he stretched his neck.

"What the hell happened?!" a guy then walked in, wearing a light cyan-colored robe and a bright golden badge on his left chest that seemed to radiate light.

'Is he a healer?'

"Ah, Charlie! Come, come, check on him and heal this guy," Dennis said as he pointed to the kid lying on the ground, all this while no one cared about him.

{A/N - truly the life of an extra}

After a few seconds, Finishing the treatment, Charlie neared Dennis, "Sir Dennis, the kid is alright. He is in tiptop condition, and you can even send him to battle in a few seconds."

"Ah! YOU! HOW DARE YOU SMASH MY HEAD!! @Y*@^#@(," the beaten-up guy stood up, pointing his fingers at Auric and shouting insults.

"Ah, there he is," Charlie said as he asked to leave, "Then Sir Dennis, it seems my work is completed, and I will take my leave." Bowing to him, he left.

"Hmm... now, let's address this situation," Dennis sighed with a hint of dejection in his voice.

He had been tirelessly managing the training schedules for the fifth-year trainees. However, just as he had taken a break, he received a call to substitute for a teacher. And now, he was confronted with this chaotic scene. Life truly seemed unjust.

Auric observed the man, or rather the teacher, making his way towards him amidst the noisy classroom. Sensing the disorder, the instructor promptly snapped his fingers.

*SNAP!! *A resonant, thunder-like sound reverberated throughout the room, prompting everyone to fall silent.

Dennis approached two boys - one exuding a sense of calm and the other seemingly eager for a confrontation, with Auric being the composed one.

Dennis thought to himself, 'Let's try to inject a bit of amusement into this situation.' The past few days had been devoid of any entertainment for him, as he had been constantly on the training grounds or immersed in developing plans to enhance the training efficiency for the fifth-year students.

"So, how would you like to settle your little quarrel?" Dennis inquired, his gaze shifting between the two.

"I want him to be punished! Actually, I'd like to teach him a lesson," the disheveled student blurted out hastily, hoping to be the first one to voice his desire and get accepted, and thinking, he was just caught off guard and would be able to defeat auric in a direct fight.

"Hmm? A duel?" Dennis interjected with a raised eyebrow, his tone laden with curiosity.

"So, are you up for the duel?" Dennis asked, his tone carrying a blend of challenge and expectation. "But let me remind you, young man, in this clan, strength prevails over weakness. We don't breed cowards here. If you initiate something, you better be prepared to see it through." Dennis couldn't help but assume that Auric might recoil, given the general consensus that his human background and lack of formal training would render him defenseless against a dragonborn.

Of course, Dennis could have easily smoothed things over with a mere gentle cautionary talk and a slap of a punishment. But apparently, that was far too pedestrian for his taste. No, he was aiming for something that would truly set the stage on fire—because what's more riveting than a good old-fashioned cat fight, right?

"Sure thing, I'm in," Surprising everyone, Auric responded promptly. There was no way he'd shy away from a minor skirmish like this.

What did it matter if everyone thought he was at a disadvantage due to his constitution and training? With his skills and basic knowledge of kickboxing, he was confident he could overcome this kid, who had not even learned any techniques.

In their training hall, students began to learn combat techniques from their third year, meaning around the age of ten. The initial two years were dedicated to honing basic swordsmanship and refining overall body coordination.

"Alright then, it's settled," Dennis announced with a half-serious, half-sarcastic grin. "You both will have a catfight—Ahem, I mean a duel—after an hour of our lovely little dispute resolution session. Since our human contender isn't exactly BFFs with swords, we'll keep this one a good ol' hand-to-hand combat showdown. Be in the duel hall on time, and if any of you decide to play hide and seek, well, let's just say you'll get a taste of my special brand of punishment." Dennis glanced at the seemingly nonchalant Auric as he emphasized the last part. "Anything else?"

"Oh, and I want to throw in a little wager," Auric chimed in, a mischievous grin playing on his lips. Dennis couldn't help but be surprised again; he had expected nervousness, not this unexpected smirk.

"Hm? A bet? That's intriguing. And how about you?" Dennis turned to the beaten up guy, who also nodded in agreement to the idea of a bet.

"I accept, but what exactly shall we wager?" the guy inquired, his expression a mix of defiance and curiosity.

In the training hall, possessions were limited to the bare essentials, so the notion of betting money was off the table. Thus, the young man's mind raced through alternatives, settling on something a bit unorthodox.

"How about all the training resources of this year?" Auric's suggestion hung in the air, met with a chorus of surprised reactions. It seemed this individual had a penchant for keeping everyone on their edge of their chairs. Whether it was his confidence or just an overwhelming display of bravado, only time would tell.

"Hehehe... hahaha!!" The guy burst into maniacal laughter upon hearing Auric's proposal. To think this guy is such a pushover! he thought, his laughter filling the air. They were all around three or four months into their training period, each receiving ten mana stones and a potion per week for their personal growth. The resources were rationed, and only the top five students of the batch received any extra. Given that Auric had just received the training resources he had missed out on for the past three months, his excitement to finally have them was palpable.

"Ah~, really~ luck must have finally smiled upon me," the guy thought, a disgustingly triumphant grin spreading across his face. His expression elicited a collective recoil from those around him. Even the girls couldn't hide their repulsion, openly displaying their distaste.

"Ewww! James looks even more revolting now," the girls whispered among themselves, sharing disdainful glances at James and his unsettling grin.

Ignoring their reactions, James swiftly agreed to the bet, hoping that a moment's hesitation might cause Auric to backtrack on his proposal.

"Are you absolutely sure you want to wager your resources? Keep in mind, those things are quite crucial during your training period." Dennis injected a note of seriousness into his words, understanding that this bet wasn't to be taken lightly. It was a gamble that put their future progress on the line.

"Yeah, I'm sure," Auric replied confidently, meeting Dennis's gaze unwaveringly.

"Haaa... it's your call. Your life, your belongings—do as you wish," Dennis sighed, the stress of dealing with this class evident on his face. It seemed he was stuck with a room full of both idiots and oddballs.
