30 Banquet of Obelisk [1]

The "room for questions" for the Student Council Representatives ended; even though Freya wasn't a part of it, she silently listened while reading the booklet in her hand.

After some time, Freya engraved in her mind the important details that were worth taking note of.

...

1. Which has higher authority between the Student Council, and the Disciplinary Committee?

– Answer:

Both have equal authority, just different responsibilities.

2. Who has the final say regarding the decision to be made when it comes to conflict between two or more students?

– Answer:

Both the Student Council President, and Disciplinary Committee President, and if either one was absent due to various reasons, the Vice-President of each department will decide on a ruling after careful consideration.

...

Freya only focused on the difference of authority between the Student Council and the Disciplinary Committee. As the most important questions had already been asked, which were even related to the Disciplinary Committee, there's no room anymore to conduct the "room for questions" among the Disciplinary Committee Officers.

"Alright! I hope that every one of you remembers everything or rather took note of the important information discussed.

"Then next... Please open the booklet that Victoria distributed earlier. In the booklet, go to the section for future academic events and check the 'Banquet of Obelisk' that will be held next week.

"I know that everyone here, especially the first years, started to reside in their respective dormitory almost a month earlier after passing the entrance examination, but not everyone has made a friend of sorts. That's why this banquet has been planned by the Obelisk Academy for the first year.

"This will be announced this week, Friday, and based on the booklet that's exclusively for each of you, it will be held next week, Tuesday.

"Any questions...?"

It was Azalea Vermillion who spoke with a smile on her face that was enough to attract some men just by staring at it.

An active student from the first-year representative of the Student Council, Rumia Flora, raised her right hand and then asked...

"Who will be the organizers of the banquet...?"

Azalea, with her smile that seemed to never leave her lips, replied.

"That will be us, your seniors, but only limited to the representatives of the Student Council and Disciplinary Committee, along with the professors of first years."

"Th-that's too many…"

As Rumia said, every section of the first year from A-1 to A-12 has 40 students each which totaled 480 students, though the number was quite numerous, it's not unmanageable.

Azalea, seeing her reaction, cleared something out to every student listening.

"Of course, everyone is going to be accommodated. Remember where you are right now, and it's free of cost.

"By the way, it will be held in the 'Obelisk Central Hall'."

"What...? Obelisk Central Hall? Where's that?"

One of the first years from the Disciplinary Committee subconsciously asked; other students also wondered about the location of the place because it was the first time they heard about it, and even some senior representatives from both the Student Council and Disciplinary Committee formed a confused expression as they looked at Azalea as though there were imaginary question marks in their heads.

"Heh… my bad, it's a surprise, so just wait for the announcement on Friday. That would be all."

Azalea, finding the student's reaction amusing replied mischievously and closed the meeting with the permission of the Student Council President.

Freya frowned slightly as she didn't understand the announcement delay, while murmurs reverberated across the Student Council Office, especially because of Azalea, or specifically the Obelisk Central Hall.

Freya, tidying up her belongings, caught a glimpse of the first-year Student Council Representatives walking past her, and Amery.

For some reason, she felt an indescribable aura that sent chills down her bone.

'What was that?'

...

Early evening, after the classes were over, inside a shabby interior that's not even comparable to an A-1 dormitory room, Russell Moon was slumped down on his bed with various thoughts surfacing in his mind.

'I'm stupid as f*ck.'

He realized his stupidity regarding this world's science, just like he thought of being a pro gamer but didn't read the game's 'Terms and Conditions'.

As a previous author who didn't manage to publish his novel thanks to a speed-running supercar, he knew of the events that would unfold in the future, but there were always the 'buts'.

'That's like being a pro gamer…'

He thought to himself; the thorough details of such events were vague to him like the determining factors and outside interference.

'...that didn't review the Terms and Conditions.'

"When I thought about it... I know the details, but not thoroughly... and when it comes to 'Untouched or Unknown Elements' like on the Hidden Dungeon I explored...

"Hahaha, What a mess! But it's good... at least for now."

His words echoed in his dormitory room.

Russell Moon thought that his reincarnation in this world was not bad at all as he didn't have important connections in his previous life; had no parents, and was a shut-in trader with his computers as his friends.

'Though the reasons were unknown about my reincarnation, the Goddess of Night probably knows, but it doesn't matter.'

He has a family in this world; a father, a mother, and a younger sister, the complete opposite of his previous life.

Russell slapped his cheeks with both of his hands to wake him up from his irrelevant state of mind.

'That's why it's hard to be alone for long, negative thoughts suddenly appear like they're welcome.'

Having been diagnosed with Social Anxiety in his previous life, he felt like thinking about random things became a habit of his as a loner.

After coming to his senses, Russell thought of the future academic events and thought of the first to be held an academic event this year.

'Banquet of Obelisk… I'm not sure of the exact date, but it's within this month for sure.'

When he thought about the details he wrote about the 'Banquet of Obelisk', he slightly frowned.

'Right, aside from knowing each other, it's obvious for scouting potential 'Players' among the first years, of course, no one would dare to recruit those under the TOP 5 Guild, they'd be stupid as hell...

"... About that... Haha! Sh*t, that would happen soon."

He laughed within his mind as he thought of the event that would take place on the 'Banquet of Obelisk'

...

Knock-! Knock-!

As his thoughts kept flooding in, he heard long knocks on the door, he then got up from his bed to open it.

"Come in."

After he opened the door, he saw his younger sister, Freya Moon, and invited her inside the room. Freya sat on the couch placed near the bed of his older brother.

"How was it?"

Russell asked, probably pertaining to the Student Council and Disciplinary Committee meeting he was told about beforehand.

"It was great, aside from knowing each other, we received perks from being a member of the Disciplinary Committee or Student Council."

Russell — who already knows of the perks —interestingly listened to his younger sister and asked...

"Coffee or tea, or water? By the way, what perks did you get?"

"Just water, we're going to have dinner soon."

After she got a glass of water from her older brother and drank it, she told him the perks she got from being a Disciplinary Officer.

"We got something called 'Protection Mark', though we're not marked physically, it's more like we received certain rights, and it will be posted on the Obelisk Website soon."

As she recounted everything that's happened, she asked her older brother if he had any idea about the "Obelisk Central Hall."

"I don't know where that is, but can't you just make a guess based on its name...?"

Of course, Russell knew where that place was, but pretended not to know and rather gave a clue to Freya based on the name of the venue, and after some time, being an intelligent girl like she was, she understood the meaning behind her older brother's word as her deep blue eyes widen in anticipation.

"You don't say!? Are you for real?"

Freya blurted out her thoughts as if she couldn't believe what she had just realized.

'Even I wouldn't think about it if I didn't know it firsthand.'

Russell thought before he replied to his younger sister.

"Hey, easy, I don't know okay, just wait for the announcement on Friday, right?"

After the siblings chattering for quite a period of time, the Sun set down, and the night sky permeated their vision, Freya then called her older brother with a serious tone.

"Oppa..."

"I think it'll be better on your birthday, can you please wait? I promise..."

Russell understood her younger sister's thoughts; she was probably going to pry about the increase in his overall strength, but he also understood that right now wasn't the right time for it.

"Okay…! Let's grab dinner!"

Freya smiled at her older brother, not because he would tell her on her birthday a few months from now, but because he understood her even though she didn't get to say everything on her mind.

...

Along the way to the usual cafeteria, Russell and Freya chatted as they saw Amelie and Amery together as if they were lost in the woods, walking aimlessly.

Freya called them out, and a happy face formed on Amelie's expression while the aloofness on Amery remained as if it were the most natural thing in the world.

"Hey! Freya! Russell! We're looking for you guys, we should eat together!"

She happily said while Amery only followed suit.

Russell sometimes wondered about Amery, with her aloofness aside, he recalled that the Goddess of Night had asked him to look out for her; though he didn't know the reasons, he was certain that there was at least one.

...

At the Obelisk Cafeteria One.

"By the way, Oppa, what's your Elective class tomorrow?"

Russell stopped eating his meal as he formed an embarrassed expression, but he accepted that it couldn't be hidden anymore.

'I got a few days off of embarrassment.'

He thought before telling his younger sister about the second Elective subject he had enrolled in.

"That... it's the G-O-S-T."

"G-O-S-T?"

Surprisingly, neither it was Freya nor Amelie who muttered it in a low voice, but rather the aloof Amery.

"Ohh! You can talk?!

Amelie sarcastically made a remark.

"General Overall System Theories."

Russell spoke the name of his second Elective after the 'Introduction to Melee Weapons.'

Freya saw it on one of the white bulletin boards where the list of Elective subjects was posted.

"E-eeeehhh?!"

Amelie's voice cut off Freya's little reverie as Amelie's ruby eyes widened.

Amelie leaned her face and then whispered the words that only the four of them would only be able to hear.

"Isn't that...?"

Before she could finish her sentence, Russell interjected on her behalf.

"Yes, for stupid people."

"Oppa!!"

Freya who didn't like her older brother ridiculing himself, shouted at him in a way that could only be heard by them.

"It's okay, it's kind of… reality you know...? Hahaha!"

Russell let out a self-deprecating laugh as thoughts of embarrassment surfaced in his mind.

'F*cking hell. I wanna dug myself into the ground. Sigh... That Elective is basically the Terms and Conditions I never read even once.'

He lampooned inwardly, and just continued to gobble up his dinner that's more important than getting embarrassed.
