58 After Six months: Change of thoughts

"I apologize for intruding until this late hour."

After finishing dinner with Serena and the members of the Ravenhurst family, I deeply bowed at the entrance.

The waning crescent moon shone brightly in the night sky, and it was slightly chilly outside. The remnants of laughter from dinner still echoed within the Ravenhurst manor, a stark contrast to the silence that followed my announcement.

But still...

Duke Ravenhurst's gaze flickered, an emotion I couldn't decipher flitting across his features. Oliver, Serena's exchanged brother, exchanged knowing glances with his father, both avoiding my eyes. 

An uncomfortable prickle spread through me. 

"Your Highness Elysion, please don't apologize. You are already our son, isn't that right, dear?"

"Uh, yes..." Duke Ravenhurst reluctantly nodded, unable to hide his feelings about our engagement.
