Newfound Power

The green window disappeared as soon as I had read everything. I picked up the dull ax that the zombie had been swinging.

'I want to test this power.'

I swung the ax against the mutilated wall. The ax smashed through the wall from the power of my swing. I nearly fell back because my arms were wedged into the wall.

'That felt nice.'

I dropped the ax on the other side of the wall and I drew my arms back. My arms were bloody with several long wooden splinters embedded there.

'I have power, but my body is still weak.'

The pain was there, but I ignored it.

'I will accept what happened and move on. Time will tell if touching it was worth the pain I will endure.'

I tore a portion of my shirt off in a long strip and I strung it around my profusely bleeding arm. I strode around the building to the front door. After throwing the door open, I walked in as if I owned the place.

I walked through every room with my AR-15 at the ready. I found blood stains on the floor. After searching further, I found a gnawed off finger and a pile of chewed guts. It smelled horrible.

'This is probably the handiwork of that zombie I killed.'

I turned away from it as I felt bile rising up in my throat. I walked throughout the house, but it looked as though someone had taken everything from the house. The clothes were gone, the knives were gone, there was nothing left.

Outside of the house, I heard a strange sound. My car started. For a second I thought. 'The keys are in my pocket? Motherfucker!'

They were not in my pocket.

I ran out the front door and I flicked the safety of my AR-15 off. I raised my rifle. There were two people in the truck. I could kill the person or knock out a tire.

'He stole from me and so he will die.'

I held my breath and squeezed the trigger. BANG. As the man had slammed the gas, my bullet took him in the head. Blood spattered against the windshield and the truck went wild. There was still another person in the opposing seat and he was trying to grab the wheel.

'He probably isn't going to get in control of the truck in time. He may have a gun.'

I ran towards the slowly moving truck and I screamed. "GET THE FUCK OUT OR DIE!"

I could see the man hesitating inside the slowing truck. As I got near the truck, I shot two bullets through the windshields. I looked at him. He did not have a gun. I spoke more calmly as I held him at gunpoint. "Get out now. Raise your hands in the air.

I reached through the door's shattered window and unlocked the door. As I threw open the driver's side door, I grabbed the corpse in one hand and I dragged him out of my truck and to the ground.

'Is that fucking brain matter on my hand? What an asshole.'

I glared at the man. "GET - OUT."

He had brown hair, brown eyes, and was skinny. He nodded. "Okay, OKAY! Just give me a second man!"

He took his time getting out, but he did.

I swung my rifle around and hit him on the forehead with the butt of my rifle. He crumpled to the ground. I jumped inside my truck which was still slowly rolling backwards, and I put it in park and smashed down on the emergency brake.

I walked back outside my truck and looked at the unconscious man.

'What am I going to do with him? I could kill him or I could take him home. Maybe he was the one who took all of the stuff from the house. I need to interrogate him. First though, I need to get out of here. I shot my rifle and so people know I'm here.'

I removed some nylon cords from my bag and tied up his hands and legs. I then threw him in the backseat floorboards like a sack of wheat. I turned to the keys which I had retrieved.

'Did I drop them after touching that stone or something? Did they find me unconscious and just take the keys? I don't know, and it doesn't matter now.'

I started the car and began to drive back toward Zane's home. It took me thirty minutes, but I arrived back at his base with a bloodied car and a story to tell. I grabbed my prisoner by the legs and I began to drag him back towards the bunker.

As I started to put in the code, I made sure the man's face was in the dirt. I glanced behind me. His face had been moving through the dirt like a plough. There was a nice little trench where his face had dug. I smiled.

'I hope he chokes on it.'

After quickly putting in the code, I pushed the door in and carried my prisoner down the steps. As soon as I reached the bottom of the steps, I saw Zane sitting on the couch watching a movie with the noise of a generator powering it. It was The Two Towers. I sighed and then tapped him on the shoulder. "Hey, I've got a problem."

He turned around and glanced at the man whose nose had begun to bleed. "Who is he?"

"Him and his friend tried to steal my car. I killed his friend and brought him back to interrogate."

He rubbed his temple. "Did anything else happen besides that?"

"Yes, something pretty crazy. I killed a Zombie and then after covering my eyes as it flashed, I went up to look at the stone it dropped. A little fight went on between the stone and I, but I conquered it. After that, a strange little game window opened in front of me."

His eyes widened. "Did you say a game window?"

I nodded. "Yeah. I have magic now, but I don't know how to control it. It just makes me think and move master."

He grinned. "I want that too. Tomorrow, you will bring me to one of these stones."

'Well, tomorrow is going to be a lot of fun.'

OI OI... Zane wants green glowing stones- I want blue glowing stones... You know the drill.
