CHAPTER 2- STEP 1

Carlisle POV

I looked around, seeing the billowing purple smoke, and sighed. It shouldn't have come to this, but there was no other way; they threatened my family, and it had to be done.

Hearing a growling sound, I turned around and saw the boy named Jason being held down by Jasper. Poor boy, his life will never be the same as being used as a pawn for someone's selfish interests.

I assure Bella, as she asks me about Jacob, what a strong girl I think she is, having been able to survive all the accidents till now. I see Edward's face scrunch up, probably from reading my thoughts. As I was about to give him a pat, I froze. No, I literally couldn't move. I tried to move my neck, but I could only move my eyeballs.

As I see Jason move towards Bella, horror dawns upon me in the realization that everyone is frozen and no one will be able to save Bella, and then I hear a sickening, breaking sound followed by the sweet smell of blood.

As soon as I can move, I give a chase, not focusing on the lower half of Bella's body. I signal Esme to stay here.

to guard Bella's remains and to receive the Volturi.

Edward gives an animalistic scream that turns completely shrill metallic at the end and begins chasing; the rest of the family followed in the chase.

Jason POV

The shrill scream sent shivers down my spine, my senses telling me that a top predator was after me, followed by five more, all of them far more experienced than I am.

"You will die."

"You cannot win against them."

My senses were screaming at me, but even with all this, my new mind was multitasking, finding the way with the highest chance of survival, before I got tackled to the ground.

Greeted by a face so good-looking, yet the anger turned it into a savage's face, a pair of fists trying to smash my skull in, I hastily doged and threw him off me.

Trying to get into sprint again only to crash into a boulder.

I quickly got to my feet and saw myself surrounded by six vampires, all trying to kill me.

No time to waste, I told myself. "There will be more of them trying to take me down.".

None of them approached me, probably wary of my ability to freeze them. "They are trying to delay time," my senses warned me. "They are waiting for reinforcement," my mind warned me.

Even Edward is now just mirroring my move instead of rushing to me. "They have a special ability to communicate through the mind," I inferred.

All of them are keeping their distance from me so as not to get affected by my "still wave." "You cannot stay still; do something." My sense of self-preservation is screaming at me.

I broke into a sprint, this time freezing Edward "the fastest of them" before he got to me, managing to put some distance between us. By now, I knew where I was in "Twilight," and I just killed the female lead. But I don't regret anything; killing Bella will bring me unimaginable benefits if I can escape from here.

Volturi will catch up soon! My mind was working at lightning speed to dodge the projectiles and to think of a plan.

As I crossed the forest, various scents assaulted me; the most overwhelming one was the town full of humans. My newborn instincts started going crazy for human blood, but I controlled myself. Luckily, clouds started clearing up, giving way to rays of sunlight.

The cullens started hesitating about following me into town, but I had no qualms, so I rushed in. I was followed by only Carlisle and Edward, covering their faces with scarves, and so I stopped in front of a shopping complex, my skin glittering like a diamond and attracting the attention of all the humans in the rush hour.

"They will kill you!" Carlisle screamed, probably trying to lure me somewhere less inconspicuous by using the threat of Volturi. I gave a scoff, followed by a cold, screeching laughter, forcing humans to drop their bags and cover their ears.

As if they didn't want to kill me before, I am aware of the plot, and they will most likely force me to join their ranks, but I am someone who likes to hold his destiny in his own hands.

Seeing that the humans had started recording the scene, I rushed towards the duo; they didn't spread out like before, probably not expecting that I would fight them in front of a crowd. I froze both of them and gave Edward a strong kick, leading to him going through the crowd of humans and leaving a bloody spectacle of flying blood and body parts. At the same time, I wrenched off Carlisle's head and ran off, not forgetting to grab a snack.

"Don't follow me, or I will crush his skull," I threatened Edward.

Leaving in my wake a mob of humans and a vampire screaming hysterically.
