Chapter 11 - Escape Death!

"I stood in that facility thinking 7 months before all this happened, I didn't have a purpose or goal... All I know was every single day was pretty much the same... And for the first time - there are people out there needing me, I'm excited! Even before I changed... I learned a lot of things inside this new world, although I wasn't sure if it would have been helpful to others... I manage to survive this long and a new goal came to mind...

A cure was no longer an option, we have aim for immunity! I wasn't sure that Jane would comply, but I knew one thing for sure - she was hurt loosing survivors too...

I need to speak with her and share with everyone my plan to stop the spread of death...

You probably already know what I'm about to say, but still I'll say it anyway... For those of you who finally understand the dangers of a real pandemic, I'm John Richards and I'm crazy enough to go out there!"

7 Months & 14 Days After Drug Release...

Everyone gathered at the lab in silence.

John looks at everyone and for some reason he signed.

"I'm gonna be completely honest with you... I feel so left out here, I don't even feel like human anymore... Yet I'm glad to still be alive because me being alive is another survivor's effort to save lives.

Jane... I know you may hate me because of what happened to those girls and we all know they didn't deserved to die, But do any of us?

In order for me to understand the dangers of this new cursed world, I had to become one of them... Even now I hate myself being this way, but I'm risking my life to save others... People out there have no idea what's happening here and the government intend to keep it that way... It may sound silly to ask you to risk your life to save another, but The title survive is what we need to hold!

The less people die of infection, the better our chance of survival... See it as a chain reaction to save yourself by saving others... I believe everyone heard the Professor explained why a cure is no longer possible... I'm here to tell you that now that the cure is of no use, we obtain a new hope!

If we can't cure the infected, we'll Imune the none infected until we come up with a safe way to kill every dead Fucker out there...

I have a new plan!

We're gonna cross the borders outside America, Here the nest of the dead... We will find no sanctuary, but I believe out there... People need to know about the possibility that will end everything should the dead find the chance to escape... So my plan is to act now!

Escape before they do...! Will any one of you here be willing to take that risk with me?"

John asked looking at everyone once again.

For a moment there's nothing but silence inside the lab.

"You may look like a Reptile right now... But You're still the same awesome John to me... Hell Yeah! I'm already dying to do this..."

Bill said.

"Okay count me in... Still better than waiting here to run out of food and die!" Milla said with a smile.

"Jane...?" Bill asked while everyone looks at her.

She looks down to the floor, fold her arms and frown with shyness.

"What's the plan...?" Jane suddenly ask.

"Ah yes!" Bill shouts while John smiles.

"The ground is crowded and dangerous to move about, we'll be dead before reaching the border... The best way is air... We need to find someone who can fly a plane and also one fit enough to prevent crashing... We also need to understand that the general got everything locked down inside every border exit.

Once we attempt to escape, we will be targeted as a threat trying to leave..." John explains carefully.

"Maybe I can work out an negotiation with the general...?" Jane Suggested.

"Impossible... They know we know the truth, and besides me looking like this makes it clear we're the infected ones..." John said looking at his hands.

"Our only way is to fight our way out, people all over the world depends on our survival... If we fail, It would mean the end of the world...

I believe we might be the only survivors attempting to rescue people from the outside, Because we're also the only survivors to know the truth..." He said and pat Bill on the shoulder.

"Professor... you're also a very important survivor in the group and we need you alive with us to work on a new project... We can't make this happen without you, So stick with us..." He then said to Professor Ivan.

"I don't think that I'll be of any use..." The Professor replied.

"Not true... You are Professor Ivan Muller and you manage to save me, We'll need you believe me..." He said with pride.

"Okay... so to fly our asses out of this shit hole, we still need someone able to handle wings..." Milla said.

"I think I might be able to get someone who can help... That is if I can contact her!" Jane replied to Milla.

"You can use the satellite services to make a call... the facility has a straight connection to the outside..." Professor said.

"Great... Start now! This friend of yours, how long will she take to get here?" John asked.

"She's a Japanese Air-craft Engineer and a ex defence force operator... She's actually in Australia now... We'll have to wait, but she'll come prepared believe me..." Jane said with confidence.

Jane walked with the Professor towards the communication centre while John and the other two walked to the cafeteria.

After a few hours, everyone got tired and got to bed.

The facility was silent for a while and everyone waited for June's friend to arrive.

2 Days Later... 08:17 AM

Everyone gathered at the lab again.

"Jane... we might consider your friend might not come... We're low on food as well, we need to take the remaining food and head out..." John suggested.

"Something must have happened..." Jane replied concerned.

Shortly after the call notify clears a sound throughout the facility and and everyone rush over to the Communication centre.

"Natsumi...! Are you there?" Jane asked.

"Temi-san... I came flying in over border from East side, But 2 combat choppers attacked me... I manage to hide near main side of city New York, get here quick! I prepare and stay silent..." Natsumi replied out of breath.

"That's our queue... Bill gether everything we're moving right now!" John said.

"When I used the emergency exit on this facility, I found a garage with two military trucks... However I believe only one of them works... the one on the left side had some parts removed, but it doesn't matter coz one is big enough anyway..." John said.

Everyone prepared guns and supplies to carry to the truck.

After only a few minutes, everyone gathered at the garage by the truck.

"Everything's loaded..." Bill said to John.

"Okay... Let's get the hell out of here!" John said starting the truck.

The Professor opened the garage doors when suddenly a group of infected came rushing in towards the truck.

"Run every Fucking meat eating bustard over!" Jane shouted.

John manage to run a few over and a few more came along.

"Ahhh Sick...!" Bill said pointing out the back of the truck.

He saw one of the walkers eating a runner.

"Guess they're not getting along..." Milla said.

The 5 survivors drove for hours before arriving at a gas station near the city.

Bill gassed up the truck and saw John walk towards the shop entrance.

"Isit just me, or does he look a little lost?" Milla asked Bill.

The Professor opened a pack of potato chips in the back and start chewing.

Jane follows John shortly after.

"He's like that some times... mostly when he's sad I guess, but He always finds a way to cheer up.

John... a man who I believe is destined to survive a shitty world like this, makes me want to follow to the end of the world...!" Bill said grinning from the side.

Jane enters the shop right after John.

She walks to the counter and pick up a box of condoms.

She notice that it's a gold edition of magnum Condoms large in size.

She looks at John and swiftly smiled.

John faces the other way standing there looking at the back storage door when suddenly he heard something fall to the ground.

Curiously John looked at the shop floor and saw a pack of Magnum Condoms laying on the floor.

"Wanna play...?" Jane asked John biting her lower lip.

She notice John standing there staring at the Condoms and tears began to flow from his eyes.

"I didn't mean to-" she stopped at the middle of her sentence.

Jane gets emotional and rushes out of the shop.

Bill sees Jane making a sad face walking towards the back of the truck.

"Jane baby what's wrong...?" Milla asked.

"Nothing... I just did something stupid just now..." Jane replied.

"Did you fuck him? I know you like him since you got at the facility..." Milla asked Jane.

"No...!" she answered.

"Of course you didn't, otherwise you wouldn't be making this face Boo..." Milla figured.

"I guess my timing was off... He- he made a really sad face you know... I think I made him remembered his wife or something!" Jane said crying.

"You know... you pretty soft for someone from the army..." Milla said holding her.

"You're wrong... He was never married, but he developed feelings for someone... We were at this same garage before back in time and things happened... He's just hurt from a few memories of Diana Smith.

They really had the hots for each other... They blended like mac' n cheese as though it was meant to be... Considering his passed life and all, I believe it was he first love from what he could remembered.

We came in this shop where I and- anyway he accidentally knocked over a box of condoms in front of Diana and she picked one up and things got busy I guess... great memories, even though most of are sad reminders now..." Bill said wiping his tears.

"Girl let me tell you somethin' That girl be dead... Let him grieve, you'll get your chance believe that..." Milla said to Jane hugging her.

Suddenly Bill smiled looking at Milla.

"Hold up... I know what you thinking, don't give me that jungle fever crap thing, coz I ain't no mother fuckin' animal from some wild life...!" Milla shouts at him.

John finally came out.

"Let's move out... my time shows 1800hours - We need to get there before dark, although heading out at night might not be a bad idea... Anyway let's Hurry..." John said walking towards Bill.

"Great to have you back man..." He said to John.

"Get in the damn truck..." John grin at Bill saying it with laughter.

Bill starts the truck and began to drive out in the highway.

"We're almost there..." Bill said with sarcasm to the Professor.

"We just started driving again, you're a moron..." Jane said.

Milla started laughing and everyone else afterwards.

After a few minutes, the truck stopped in front of the town.

"This place looks like hell..." Bill said surprised.

"This was the cause of that explosion..." John said.

everyone got back into the truck and drove off into the exploded city.

"There! behind the bridge... I see her!" Jane said to Bill.

They arrive at near a helicopter.

Everyone disembark the truck when behind a burning car came a short girls in blue army clothes.

She was a Japanese girl with long hair bind to 2 ponytails and pink highlights.

"Hi... Name's Natsumi, Yorusku onegai shimasu- I mean pleased to meet everyone..." Natsumi said after holding her mouth and bowed.

"She's cute... like an animation doll... a agh... ka-wa-ii right?" Bill said to Natsumi.

"Bill...! save the flirt for later, we need to move now!" John said.

Natsumi looks up at John and jumps backwards Screaming and falling on her bottom.

She swiftly pulls out a pistol from her back and aimed at John.

"Augh... we don't have time for this, take a good look Nut girl... I'm a Reptile, can we go now?" John said with sarcasm.

Jane takes the gun from Natsumi and help her up.

swiftly the sun sets and a the helicopter starts.

Two infected came running in towards them.

Before Jane could get a proper aim, John suddenly run towards them falling to the ground and boosting both infected in the range of the helicopter blades.

"Nice kill Mr. Wick!" Bill screamed from the back and everyone rushed inside the helicopter.

Jane manage to shoot two in the head right before the helicopter lift from the ground.

The finally manage to take flight.

John watches over the burning city full of infected while sun sets completely. After a short while it became completely dark unable to see anything from the ground anymore.

Bill looks back and see that America's completely dark.

"For the land of the free, and the home of the brave..." Jane said wiping a tear from her left cheek.

The group manage to escape the border without interference.

"So... Where we going?" Natsumi asked Jane sitting next to her in front.

Jane gives no reply and look at John.

"Mexico... We'll start there!" John shouted.

"I finally realize how hard it was to survive a nightmare world of a real pandemic... Instead of being glad that we made it out in one piece, I remembered a lot of faces who sacrificed their lives to secure our survival... We witness countless deaths throughout America, family and friends as well... America suffered greatly, and we're the flag that keeps standing... For those of you who forgot who the main character is, My name is John Richards and we managed to Escape Death!
