39 Chapter 37

I wanted to get back inside and reap as many rewards as I could, but when I tried to activate the skill, a notification warned me that if I wished to get back inside this time there won't be any type of defense and I would receive 10'000 HP of damage every second, if I wanted to get back inside I had to wait a day, so with my current HP I would only last 2 seconds inside there, and I surely won't die only because of my impatience.

So instead I tried to use the new perk I had just gained, which sounds weird since it was supposed to be a perk and so always passive, but I felt as if this perk had a similar switch to the bullet time one, which means that I willingly have to turn it on for it work.

So without wasting a second I sat on the ground, Bastet sat on my lap but I ignored her simply happy to feel something comfy on my legs, and closed my eyes.

Usually, when someone talks about having a sixth sense they define something above the normal five senses, making you able to see, hear, smell, taste, and touch things that shouldn't exist.

Using my new ability to have total control over my body, I turned off all my senses, thus leaving me in a world of complete darkness.

After 1 minute though, I finally started to see again, or more like I was able to "see" shapes, no colors sounds, or smells, just the shape of my house.

It is similar to the near effect of the bats, maybe I am using my soul to create something similar to sounds thus making me able to see everything around me.

Continuing with the flow, I concentrated more and more, and the image continue to become clearer and clearer to the point where it was almost as if I had my eyes open, my nose as sharp as normal, and my ears ready to hear the neighbors having sex.

After 30 minutes I had reached the same level of when I am using all of my five senses, and suddenly something inside me unlocked, it didn't break, it simply opened.

I activate all of my senses and the world around me became a rainbow of colors.

The lights are much brighter than before, and the color of the walls seems more alive.

"Something changed." I heard Bastet saying.

I turn towards the cat on my lap, and an even stronger rainbow of colors smashed against my face.

Something similar to my mana skin was covering Bastet, as a base, it had a grey color, then stains of red, black, blue, and purple, considering what the perk had said, this must be Bastet's soul.

Studying it more, I finally understood how it worked, the base color is most likely the moral compass of the soul, white should be good, dark should be evil, and grey neutral, I will have to study how this perk decides who is evil and who is good, next the color stains are the emotions that compose the person, from a book I had read once, I remember that each color has a meaning, purple being royality/luxury, red boldness, blue trustworthy, and black elegance and power, so considering Bastet they all check out.

"You can see my soul?" I asked quite surprised by it.

" Yes, how do you know?"

" You aren't the only one able to." It said while its golden eyes glowed for a second."

"Then describe mine."

"Yours is strange, as a base, it is completely grey, it is the greyest grey I have ever seen in my life, and there is no impurity, no stains from emotions, instead they are all covering your body as if they were stratifications that you can switch whenever you want, that is one of the things that attracted me when we first met, you can be considered more a computer then a human."

I simply nodded already expecting something like that, even before the arrival of the gamer system, I was already a moral grey human, and was able to control my emotions like I wished, easily making me able to go completely numb, and not get overwhelmed by emotions.

Deciding to study it more, I got out of my house, wearing my usual casual outfit, I put Bastet inside my hoodie, the thing that it liked, and got out of the house.

While walking around New York, the already colorful city had become much more beautiful.

During my studies, I discovered that actually, no one has a white soul, they either are a white grey or a dark grey, I had still to encounter a single white soul, but the thing didn't surprise me, white souls should be the epitome of goodness and self-sacrifice, something you can't find in normal people.

I continued walking and during my walk time passed, and night came closer and closer.

After a while, without my realizing it, I arrived in the poorer areas of the city.

I was about to go back to my house when suddenly a pillar of white light hit me.

On the ground, a man with a red and blue suit could be seen helping a grandma crossing the street.

The aura around him was as white as snow, his emotions even if present not corrupting the base of his soul, it staying solid as mountains.

The hero I was looking at is Spiderman, he has been around for 5 years, and in all those years, not once didn't he do something to help others, most of the time resulting in him getting injured, now I understood that it wasn't for the fame, but because he actually a good person.

My eyes twitched for a second, something inside my mind clicked, and even though it didn't break, cracks began to spread around a certain lock I had created when I was young.

I sighed and headed towards my house, I still have things to do, and strength to gain.
