Martial Ascension

A month and a half after the apocalypse started, Lawrence has been using his martial arts skills to help any survivors he comes across. During this time, he has learned that he can easily defeat a level 1 zombie but struggles to defeat a level 2 zombie without a weapon.

While eating some beef jerky, Lawrence notices a group of survivors being attacked by a giant cat-like zombie. It turns out that the zombie is a level 3 zombie, and Lawrence does his best to help the survivors escape while trying to find a way to kill the giant cat. Despite his efforts to punch, kick, grapple, and bite the cat, none of it seems to work. In the end, the giant cat bites Lawrence, and he is about to be eaten when a group of soldiers arrive and shoot rockets at the giant cat, killing it.

As the giant cat's body disappears, a purple gem comes out, which Lawrence accidentally breaks, and his body is covered in tattoos of different animals. He falls unconscious, and the soldiers bring him to the survivor camp set up at the edge of the city.
