First battle (3)

I had closed my eyes when I saw the centipede tail falling towards me.

I had even brought my hands up in an attempt to block it, though I didn't feel anything in the end.

Was this the feeling of death?

Was this how it was when it was all over?

It was just a feeling like nothing had happened…

No, nothing had happened.

I didn't feel anything because the centipede tail didn't stab into me in the end.

I slowly opened my eyes and found that the centipede tail had disappeared from above me.

I couldn't help slowly bringing my hands down and then touching my own body, as if I was trying to figure out if I was still alive or not. To make sure that I was still alive and that this wasn't a dream, I pinched my cheeks.

It hurt.

That meant that this wasn't a dream.

So what had happened?

Also, what was that scream of pain?

I looked down on the ground to see that there were parts of the centipede tail that were lying there. They had been cut off from the main part of the centipede tail and even now, they were still shaking on the ground as if they were still alive.

But that shaking quickly stopped as the nerves died off.

Who had cut the tail?

Not to mention, they had used such clean cuts that it didn't touch me at all.

The parts of the centipede tail had been split in half, so they fell to both sides of me without touching me.

Even the liquid that was inside of the centipede tail didn't touch me at all.

It was as if there was some kind of strange force that had split all of that liquid in half so that it fell to my sides without touching me.

When I looked up again, I saw that there was someone else who was standing there.

This was a figure that I recognized right away because it was one that had been beating me just yesterday.

It was Bi Feng.

She had this sword that was in her hand, but it wasn't a wooden sword. Instead, it was a real katana that she was holding that had a dragon inlay on the blade.

She was looking at me with a surprised look when she saw me looking at her. When I turned to look at her, she asked, "What are you doing here?"

Before I could answer, there was another person that ran over and said, "I've already found the apostle and trapped him, what do you want to do now?"

This was a voice that was very soft, so soft that one almost couldn't hear it, but I also recognized this voice.

It was Su Rou.

She had been walking over and when she saw me after coming over, she couldn't help revealing a surprised look as she asked the same thing as Bi Feng, "What are you doing here?"

Yan Ling was the one that bailed me out in the end as she came forward to say, "That's not important right now. Where is the apostle?"

Though her voice seemed calm, I could hear that there was a dark undertone to it.

It seemed that Bi Feng and Su Rou could also hear it, so Su Rou quickly said, "It was hiding on the second floor, but I have a barrier trapping it in a room. It won't be able to break out that quickly."

Yan Ling said in the same dark calm voice, "Take me to him."

Su Rou could only give a nod when she heard this before leading the way.

Bi Feng also moved out of the way for Yan Ling as she could tell that there was something off about her.

Both of them looked at me as if they were asking what was wrong with Yan Ling, but I just shook my head to show that I didn't know either.

After all, this was the face that Yan Ling would put on when she hid her feelings.

So even as her childhood friend, I had no idea what she was thinking.

Though I could tell that it was bad because of the tone she spoke in.

Su Rou led us up a set of stairs not far from where we were and we came to a room on the second floor that had a glowing energy barrier in front of it.

There was no colour to this barrier, but one could clearly see that there was some kind of energy barrier in front of this door.

After we arrived, Yan Ling said, "Let me in."

Su Rou was surprised to hear this, but she felt compelled to add, "If I let you in, the apostle will definitely attack you. Are you sure that you want that?"

Yan Ling just gave a firm nod as she said, "Do it."

Su Rou once again looked at the two of us as if she was confirming with us if she should do this.

But there was no stopping Yan Ling now.

Both of us recognized this, so we could only nod in agreement.

Su Rou looked at Yan Ling with an uncertain look again, but she released the barrier in the end.

It was only the barrier in front of the door that was released, there was still a barrier around the room itself that kept the apostle in.

But as soon as the barrier in front of the door was released, there was a centipede tail that broke through the door and stabbed at Yan Ling who was standing there.

All three of us were caught off guard by this, but Yan Ling just calmly stared at the centipede tail coming at her.

She raised her hand and gathered a sword of silver energy before she said in a dark voice, "You dare try to target him? Even if it was part of the plan, I can't let this go!"

Then with a burst of silver energy, she suddenly roared, "Die!"
