The Slaughter Of Evil

My dream was always to be like a hero, so I did what all great heroes do: I slaughtered whatever I considered evil.

'Today I'm going to start with them…'

My eyes followed a group of thugs known to be part of a gang called 'The Kings'.

I've been following them for hours and I'm not even getting paid.

I sighed, slapping my forehead.

'Another waste of time…'

I was about to turn around until, out of my amazement; they all turned into an abandoned alley secluded from prying eyes.

Excitedly tightening both of my fist, a grin struck my face.

'Perfect!'

I quickly followed in pursuit through the jagged alley, trying to catch up as I peered around, spotting all the cracks and moss coating the walls.

While lost in thought, a voice shouting at others dragged me back into reality.

"You guys… Are all fucking idiots!"

The men's faces turned pale, appearing to be suffocating out of fear.

To my surprise, a short man with clothes covered in holes stepped forward.

He spoke with a squeaky voice, with his eyes pointed downward, "Boss, we haven't been back here in a while… so we may have forgotten the way."

The tall, slender man turned around and spat at the short man, his eyes darkening,

"Save your shitty excuses for later, you fucking exhibitionist!"

As if trying to lighten the mood, the other men started laughing, pointing to the holes, as they mocked him.

Even I had to hold back my laughter—

*SMASH*

The boss spat a warning as he lifted his shoe from the broken glass underneath him.

"Shut the fuck up or else… You'll be laying where the fucking glass is!"

Immediately, as if a response, they all became like stone statues.

After a few seconds of silence, I chimed in.

"Mr. Angry Is lacking a sense of humor."

The group of thugs spun around, their faces twisted in disbelief.

'What? Was it that bad…'

Before I got the chance to correct my 'inferior' joke, the boss threw his fist at the mossy walls, causing a loud thud as more cracks formed.

"Shut that stupid fucking brat up!"

Like a dog listening to his master, one thug rushed towards me with no hesitation, gripping a knife in his right hand.

The lack of light in the alleyway enchanted the sounds of struggling between me and him until—

"Ahh..!"

Screams bounced off the walls, mixing with the blood splattered along them.

The man in front of me had his right arm twisted towards himself, still gripping the knife which was inserted into his stomach.

'That was easier than I thought it'd be.'

I looked up at the group of thugs, noticing all of them taking out their knifes.

"Who the fuck are you?" Said a man wielding a rusty knife. It surprised me as it was the exhibitionist.

I laughed in my head, kicking the blood covered thug to the ground, quickly pulling the knife out of his stomach.

'Those who deserve death die...'

As if the heavens were supporting my dream. The ends of my lips curled upward in response.

"Well, to answer your question…"

After thinking for a moment, I finally spoke, "You could sa—"

As if the heavens disagreed, a bright light struck me from behind, blinding the thugs in front of me.

"All of you, drop the weapons and put your hands behind your head or I will shoot you!"

One thug obeyed, dropping his knife before running towards the exit. "Fuck this shit—"

*BANG*

My ears rang as the smell of gunpowder mixed with blood filtered through the air.

I held back the urge to hold my nose shut as his body fell limp against the floor.

"Last warning!"

"You have 3 seconds to comply or you'll get shot on the spot!"

The remaining thugs, other than the boss, dropped their knifes and put their hands behind their head, as so did I.

"3…"

"2.."

"1—" But before the officer could finish counting, the boss dropped his knife before raising his hands behind his head.

After being handcuffed by a group of officers, one officer threw me into his cruiser, heading to the local police station.

Once we arrived, he walked me to a secluded room, handcuffing me to a table plastered to the floor. I waited there for what felt like an eternity until the door finally opened.

A well-dressed man rocking a badge stepped into the room,

"Hello, my name is Detective Johnson."

He sat down, offering me a cup of water before reading my rights to me,

"Do you understand?"

I closed my eyes and responded,

"Yes."

Another hour went by of him asking me a few questions about what happened in the alley, but before I could even lie, he pulled out a tablet with a recording of the whole thing.

"We have it all on camera, so I expect nothing more than the truth, Feli Havoc."

I shook my head out of disbelief. 'A camera in that dark alley?'

He coughed to draw my attention, "You could be in for a long time as we can connect you to some other situations, but there's an opportunity for you which would be significantly better than what the courts would offer you."

My face practically morphed into a question mark.

"And what's that?"

Instead of answering my question, he stood up and headed to the door, causing me to laugh.

"What is this karma?"

Another hour went by…

I've had my head between my palms, speculating about what it could be.

Until another thought struck me as I furrowed my brows. 'Wait, how does he know my name?'

I couldn't figure it out. My nickname was 'Skinny Brute' and not 'Skinny Genius' or whatever.

As I sat there waiting, the room drove me crazy. Every breath I made, including the random noises from my stomach, would echo in the small room.

Finally, the door opened, but this time the detective wasn't alone, but he had a woman with him.

He stood next to her as she sat down across from me.

She had long flowing black hair and a military like uniform on, but it was full black. She was honestly gorgeous, even without emotions.

"As Detective Johnson told you, we have an offer for you. There's an island that is a new sort of prison, and we're inviting you to it."

She paused for a moment before continuing. "The best part is you'd only be required to stay for a week, then you're free to go."

"Only a week? When do I start?" I asked, smiling.

Not even a second after I responded, she placed a stack of papers on the table, pushing them towards me.

"As soon as you sign all the papers." She said, smiling back, her eyes not directed at me, but towards the papers.

'This sounds too good to be true...'

I spent about 30 minutes reading what I could, which wasn't much, and signing with an almost unreadable signature.

Afterwards, she took the papers back and had Detective Johnson release me from the table. They then brought me to a garage, but before I could get a look around, a bag closed over my head, blinding me.

Somebody grabbed me from behind,

'Wha—What!'

I started struggling to get out of their hold, but they didn't budge an inch.

"Good luck, kid." I could barely make out Detective Johnson's words.

They then inserted a needle into my neck, filling my body with a tingly sensation until a sharp pain flooded my brain.

'What in th—'

My mind filled with darkness, crushing my body into dust as I floated away into nothingness.
