60 Conference (Part 1)

"Wow, impressive, impressive…"

Upon hearing Gu Yifei's answer, both the women clapped. 

Zhou Wen clapped as well and said, "An ivy league graduated psychiatrist lives up to the reputation of his name."

The two women's eyes glistened when they learned that Gu Yifei was a doctor who graduated from an ivy league university. 

Gu Yifei turned a blind eye to the two women's admiring gaze; instead, he turned his head to look toward Zhou Wen. 

Zhou Wen did not expect Gu Yifei to be so impressive. 

Just as mentioned by him, it was true that these two women were 23 years old, and they worked as kindergarten teachers. 

It was not wrong for Gu Yifei to say that they were teachers. 

"I made almost the same guess as you."

The words were just spoken by Zhou Wen when the woman in red hushed him and said, "Hey… You're cheating."

The woman in white said, "That's right. How can you do this? That's cheating…"

Gu Yifei turned around and said in all apparent seriousness, "You've looked down on him; he won't ever stoop so low as to cheat!"

The two women noticed Gu Yifei's serious expression, and they were rendered speechless from the embarrassment. 

"Cough, cough, cough…" Zhou Wen let out a cough to ease the awkward situation. Then, he looked at the woman in white and said, "You're having issues with irregular menstruation, right?"

"Oh…" The woman in white was astonished and a little embarrassed too. How could a newly-acquainted person point out a private matter like this?

However, she reacted to the situation soon afterward and asked, "How do you know about that?"

Gu Yifei answered, "He is a doctor from Jiangzhou First People's Hospital."

"Oh, really?" The woman gasped in astonishment once again. Soon afterward, she said shyly, "Uh... I haven't felt so well these days. Is it anything serious?"

Zhou Wen replied, "I can see that your blood circulation is not that good judging by the look on your face. I suggest that you get a comprehensive health checkup at the hospital to find out the definite cause. If the indicators are all normal, it's possible that it's your life and work stress are resulting in endocrine disorder. You can regulate your mood appropriately. On the other hand, try your best to keep your private part clean and dry in your daily life by frequently changing your undergarments."

The woman in white nodded. "Mmhmm, mmhmm, mmhmm, thanks a lot…"

"You're welcome…"

The woman in red waited until the other woman was done asking questions before she hastily added, "Uh, doctor, what do you think of my health then?"

Zhou Wen chuckled and said, "I'm not a psychic, so how can I tell just by looking!? You must tell me if you have any symptoms, then I can make a judgment."

The woman in red's situation was different from the woman in white. To avoid suspicion, Zhou Wen did not point it out right away. 

The woman in red described some of the symptoms that were present, and then Zhou Wen guided her to press on a spot three inches below her left breast on purpose. 

"Hiss... hiss…" The woman in red turned ghastly pale in pain, and she drew in a cold breath. 

Zhou Wen said, "Judging from your condition, it's highly possible that you have breast cysts or lobular hyperplasia. I suggest you go for an ultrasound scan in the hospital."

Upon hearing that, the woman in red asked anxiously, "Uh.. .is it serious?"

Zhou Wen smiled and said, "You're going to be fine; it's just a small issue. Don't worry. However, I suggest it's best for you to eat less spicy, stimulating foods and cut down on the drinking."

"Oh, oh, oh, noted…" Upon saying that, the woman in red shoved the liquor on the table aside. "I'm not drinking anymore."

The woman in white could not refrain from bursting out laughing in the meantime. "We're here to have a drink or two at this tavern and catch up, yet, we end up getting a doctor's consultation unexpectedly."

The woman in red laughed as well. "That's right. One of them is a psychiatrist while the other is a gynecologist."

Meanwhile, a crisp voice was heard coming from his back. "He's not a gynecologist! He is a pathologist!"

Zhou Wen turned his head to take a look behind, only to find that it was Xu Shuangyu. Two more beautiful student-like girls followed by her side. They were dressed in branded clothes and carried Gucci and Armani handbags. 

There was no need for Zhou Wen to ask as he could tell that these girls were certainly the socialites of wealthy families. 

The women in red and white were immediately suppressed by the presence of these people. The small hopes that they had in their hearts were shattered as well. They nodded toward Gu Yifei and Zhou Wen as they turned back to their seats in disappointment. 

Xu Shuangyu took a seat next to Zhou Wen gracefully while the other two girls followed her action and sat opposite Zhou Wen. 

Xu Shuangyu said to Gu Yifei, "Hello, my name is Xu Shuangyu, and I'm Zhou Wen's… junior at university. These are my good friends, Su Mengyan and Zhang Lu."

Gu Yifei nodded, smiled, and said, "Hello, I'm Gu Yifei, a psychiatrist at Jiangzhou First People's Hospital."

They engaged in small talk, and then Zhou Wen said, "It's not a Sunday today... why aren't you at the university?"

Xu Shuangyu took out a bottle from her sling bag and grabbed the liquor glasses on the table to pour a glass of wine for each of her two friends. While she poured, she chuckled and said, "I'm going to change my major next semester anyhow. It doesn't matter if I attend classes anymore or not."

Zhou Wen replied, "You still need to get enough credits, though."

Xu Shuangyu smiled coquettishly and said, "Do you think I'll fail any subject despite being so smart?"

Zhou Wen nodded and got hold of his glass of liquor as he watched the night scenery of Qinhuai River's shores. 

Xu Shuangyu nudged his arm. "Hey…"

Zhou Wen said, "What is it?"

Xu Shuangyu answered, "I traveled all the way here. Aren't you going to offer me anything for my effort?"

Zhou Wen asked, "Offer you what?"

Xu Shuangyu answered, "Anything. You can put in a good word for me, compliment me, treat me to a meal, go for a karaoke session with me or anything really"

Zhou Wen said, "You look very pretty, is that alright?"

Xu Shuangyu beamed with delight. Her face was as exquisite as jade put together from joy. 

They sat for over ten minutes before Xu Shuangyu and her two friends left in advance. 

Zhou Wen and Gu Yifei continued to drink and chatted about everything. 

They talked about medicine, biology, life, dreams, and the future…

The three girls left the little tavern. Su Mengyan and Zhang Lu, who had not spoken at all since they entered the tavern, began to join in the conversation. 

"He doesn't seem all that impressive, Little Yu."

"That's right. He looks sloppy, and I feel that there's nothing special about him. That Gu Yifei, on the other hand, seems very impressive."

Xu Shuangyu rolled her eyes and said, "You're the idiot. You're not allowed to criticize him like this."

Zhang Lu gasped in surprise and said, "Whoa… Little Yu, you can't have fallen into unrequited love, right?"

Su Mengyan said, "You'll be damned to be in unrequited love."

Xu Shuangyu flew into a rage. "Bullshit! Both of you are in unrequited love! I, Xu Shuangyu, can't possibly be in an unrequited love in my lifetime…"

It drizzled the next morning. However, it did not affect the ongoing conference. 

At nine in the morning, over at the laboratory medicine group, over 30 talented youths from the entire province and the Anhui Province's two cities began conducting experiments in succession. 

This included DNA extraction, electron microscope observation, electrophoresis experiment, virus extraction, PCR amplification, primer design, and more. 

Everyone's performance was very outstanding. 

As for Zhou Wen, he was conducting PCR amplification and spent an hour extracting white mice DNA first. 

It was at a swift speed. However, that was all. 

White mouse DNA extraction was an essential skill of a laboratory technician, and there was nothing worthy of surprise.
