8 8. Lavish Meal

'Phat… phat…' A loud, smacking sound resonated in the large hall of the Great Magus pet store.

Sony, who snatched Sky Orb from Kent's hands, fell flat on the ground. It was manager Rin who smacked Sony without another thought. He pulled the sky orb from her and passed it to Ria.

"Security, throw this garbage outside. Do not let her step into this store." Rin ordered resentfully. He is already worrying about how to satisfy Kent, as it was his mistake to undermine a golden piggy card holder. In addition to his worries, Sony is creating more headaches for him.

"Mr. Kent, I failed to teach my workers. Please forgive me." Rin bowed again with a sincere face. As Kent was not responding, he turned his head towards Ria and hinted at her to intervene.

Ria immediately grabbed the chance and walked close to Kent. "Mr. Kent, thank you for doing business with us. Please take your order, and the discount card will be provided on the day of delivery. I'm sorry, on behalf of my colleagues." Ria spoke respectfully as she stood close to Kent.

Kent accepted the orb and golden piggy card from the manager. After finishing the formalities, he came out of the store. As the manager pushed Ria, she hurriedly followed Kent while trying to engage in a conversation with him. But Kent just smiled and walked on his way.

"Ria, you were promoted to senior assistant. From now on, you will receive all VIP customers. Keep in mind that you will serve that young master very well in the future." Manager Rin, who came from behind, spoke with a serious face. Rin looked somewhat depressed, as he couldn't befriend the person with the golden piggy card.

But Ria is smiling shyly, like a new bride who is waiting inside the first-night room. She got promotion just after few days of joining.

After leaving the pet store, Kent headed towards 'Night Witch Street'. It is already evening, and his stomach is grumbling for food. Also, he needs a shelter for the next two days. For that, Kent decided to visit Hotel Moonlight, which is the perfect spot for dining and resting.

'From now on, I should focus more on my magic. My aunt said my parents are great magicians. I must not have disappointed my aunt when she came to visit me. More than that, I want to see Thea's face when I surpass her.' Kent murmured while walking towards Night Witch Street.

The slender stick-like bamboo bag is hanging on his back, holding his old and new orbs.

"Luna, where are you?" Sony, who stood outside the pet store, called her stepsister.

"My classes just finished. I'm walking toward home. Wait, are you crying?" Luna questioned as she heard the sobbing of Sony.

"Luna, I just lost my job. I don't know what to do now. Hehhh… hehhh…" Sony replied in a stuttering tone while controlling her tears.

"What…? But why? Aren't you a senior assistant? How could they remove you so suddenly?" Luna asked in a confused tone.

"It's a big story. I will tell you later. Please come here to pick me up. I came with others in the morning." Sony said while rubbing her eyes.

"It's okey… I will be there soon. Don't worry about the job. I will find another one for you." Luna replied assuringly in an elderly tone.

(Luna was Kent's classmate when he joined school. As Kent fell back two years, Luna, with her talent, rose to the 8th Maga stage. Now she is the class head of the 8th grade at Sky Family Magus School. Please remember her character; she will have a lot of fun with us. By the way, she is absolutely lolly, but of legal age.)

Night Witch Street

Inside Hotel Moonlight...

"Sorry, sir, we are currently renovating all our regular rooms. Only VIP rooms are available." The receptionist lady replied with an uneasy smile.

"Oh, then I will take the VIP room. Please register a room for me." Kent replied without thinking much.

"Sir, the VIP rooms cost 1 gold coin for every 24 hours. Also, we won't provide any discounts if you don't have a VIP pass." The 30-year-old receptionist, who wore a tight skirt and business suit, replied with an artificial smile.

"No problem. I will take a VIP room, and most importantly, the room should contain an aura chamber." Kent replied as he placed a golden piggy card on the transparent glass desk.

As an experienced worker, the lady knows how to act without mixing her prejudice with business. She immediately picked up the card.

"Sir, every VIP room has advanced aura rooms; you don't need to worry about that. Please tell me how many days you need the room for." The receptionist asked while maintaining her composure.

"Two days, mostly."

The receptionist lady placed the card inside a magic circle behind her and entered a number. Immediately, one gold coin was deducted, and Kent received a message in his sky orb.

Usually, the hotel only charges a small deposit, and customers only need to pay before leaving. But the receptionist charged more coins to see whether Kent could really afford a VIP room.

As the transaction went through, she felt surprised for a second. In the next minute, her tone sounded more humble, and a natural smile adorned her cheeks.

"Sir, this is the key to your room. Do you have any luggage?" The receptionist asked while handing Kent a red keystone and piggy card.

"Nothing. Thanks for your service." Kent replied as he moved towards the house eagles' station on one side.

If the customer places his key stone on its head, the house eagle will directly carry the customer to his allotted room. For others, they need to manually direct the pets towards the designated room.

After reaching the room, Kent first ordered food by using a glass orb placed on the table for customer service. Before the food arrived, he began checking out every room.

The VIP room contains a personal spa, an aura room, a dining hall, a big screen to watch magic competitions conducted all around the world, and a combat room to test their magus level.

Within five minutes, the food arrived directly to his room. A middle-aged man in black and white clothes neatly arranged the food items on the dining table and left without making a sound.

'Ahhh… finally.' Kent sighed as he remembered his last meal, where he ate inside a big hotel with Thea and her grandmother. 'It's already been one year since Grandma passed. I wonder what Thea ate for lunch.' Kent muttered while thinking about Thea, who always arranged meals for him every day.

Kent finished everything without wasting a single grain and entered the aura room to practice magic. For two and a half years, he has stagnated at the 3rd Magus stage because of the Meridian curse. He is eager to see how much he will progress now.

As he stepped inside and sat in meditative posture, the aura room locked automatically. But Kent forgot to lock the main door.
