Chapter 6: Fenris

Fenris had searched as long as she could through the halls for the short girl, she had to stop though when the bell rang and she was forced to go to class. So she slumped to her first class before she was late. Walking in she sat at a desk, took her sunglasses off, and stared ahead.

She didn't pay any attention in her morning classes, all she could think about was the short girl. Ray had even texted her upset that she didn't meet him before school so he could introduce her to his mate. So he said that she will meet her at lunch.

The bell for lunch finally rang and like every other time since this morning on the way to her next destination she searched for the short girl. Finally reaching the cafeteria Fenris sighed not even catching a glimpse of her and walked in.

She didn't even make it two feet in when she heard, "FENNY! OVER HERE! YOU HAVE TO MEET MY MATE! ALSO MA GAVE ME LEFTOVERS FOR YOU!" She looked to where the shouting came from and saw Ray jumping and flailing his arms like an idiot wearing his typical jeans and t-shirt. [How is he an alpha? He acts like he's ten.] Shaking her head with a small smile she started walking to him.

Walking closer she saw a girl, a few inches shorter than herself, standing next to Ray. The girl had shoulder length dark brown hair with light brown eyes. She was very fit and Fenris had to admit, attractive. She was wearing a dark blue blouse and a black skirt that gave her a professional look.

Finally reaching the pair Fenris glared at Ray, "Do you have to be so loud. I mean half the cafeteria is still staring at us."

Ray just smiled, "Oh don't whine. Here's your lunch." he handed her a container. "And this beautiful woman is my mate, Mary. Mary this is Fenris my best friend." he said while putting an arm around Mary

Fenris looked at Mary with an emotionless face, "Hi." she said monotonically.

Mary looked right back into Fenris' eyes. Fenris could see Mary gulp and attempt to take a step back. If it wasn't for Ray having his arm around her Fenris is sure the girl would have bolted out of the school.

"Fenny, stop." Ray said, punching Fenris in her arm. "If you're not nice I'm gonna take away Ma's food." he stated while reaching for the container in Fenris' hand.

Fenris quickly moved her food away from him. "Fine, I'll try to be nicer." she said turning to Mary. Mary seemed slightly amused at the bickering between the wolf and the hybrid.

[Hmm. She seemed scared of my eyes, so let's see how she reacts when she gets a good look at my fangs.] Fenris thought evilly.

Giving a big toothy smile showing off her fangs Fenris said, "Sorry about that. I'm told I'm not the nicest person around. My name's Fenris, it's a pleasure to meet you." At the end of her introduction she smiled extra big. Mary turned even paler if possible and couldn't take her eyes off Fenris' teeth.

Ray smiled seeming oblivious to the fact that Mary was scared of Fenris. "Great now that that's settled let's sit and eat." he said pulling Mary into a seat next to him and across from Fenris.

Overall the lunch was going very well. Once Mary got over Fenris' general look and scariness Mary opened up and Fenris learned a lot about her. Like that she had a younger sister who was in the year under them and that she was bullied so Mary spent a lot of time looking out for her. Fenris liked Mary and she could see them being friends.

However all good things must come to an end, and their nice lunch came to an end by the biggest jerk of the school Johnny.

Johnny was a future alpha like Ray, but unlike Ray Johnny wasn't born to be an alpha. His father overthrew their packs last alpha. Once this happened Johnny became the biggest jerk in the school just because now he would be an alpha.

Johnny was 5'10", stocky, with short blond hair and Hazel eyes. He had a permanent smirk etched on his face since his dad became alpha. Many of the girls in the school thought he was handsome and so when he asked for sex they would sometimes say yes.

Sad thing is Fenris, Ray, and Johnny used to all be friends. He was one of the few that didn't care about her looks, but once he became a future alpha he started ignoring them and calling her a freak. He even started working out and tried to get all the girls in his bed, even if they were mated.

Johnny leaned on their lunch table cutting off the conversation they were having. He turned his back on Fenris and looked at Ray for a second before his gaze locked on Mary. Smirking he said, "Why is a beautiful girl like yourself with these losers? One is a freak and the other is nothing but a kid pretending he can be an alpha. Why don't you come with me and I'll show what an alpha is really like?" he asked her, reaching out his hand to stroke her cheek.

Mary flinched away from his touch backing herself into Ray. Ray grabbed Johnny's wrist and squeezed it, "Back away Johnny. She's my mate."

Johnny laughed, "Ha yeah right, I bet she's already thinking about leaving your weak ass." he said laughing even harder.

Ray's eyes turned gold and then all of a sudden you hear a cracking noise and Johnny's screams.

Ray had just shattered the other boys wrist. "I may act immature sometimes, I'm still a kid. But I do have alpha responsibilities I take seriously. Just because I act that way doesn't make me weak, I just refuse for the weight of the responsibility to stop me from having fun. My pack knows this and they respect it. They know that sometimes there is a need for my goofiness." Ray stated loud and proud.

During his little speech every wolf from his pack that was in the cafeteria had gotten up and stood behind him to show their support for their future alpha.

Johnny growled holding his wrist and walked out of the cafeteria. Fenris looked over at Ray and saw he was having an internal conflict, his eyes kept switching from gold to brown. Walking up to Mary, Fenris whispered in her ear, "Go take him somewhere quiet and talk to him, he needs you." Mary just nodded at her before she lightly grabbed Ray's hand pulling him out the doors.

[Well this has been an eventful day. I just want to go home and sleep. Maybe even find the short mystery girl and talk to her.] With that last thought the bell rang for the final period and Fenris walked off.
