21 Chapter 19: Annabelle

Annabelle had made it her mission to hide from Fenris all day, so she wore a lot of perfume to mask her scent, as well as all black that included a hoodie to hide her hair. Apparently though, she didn't need to do that, because she got a text from Mary asking where Fenris was. Later they found out that Fenris had run out of her first period class without telling anyone where she was going.

It was now lunch and Annabelle had been worried about Fenris since she heard she ran out the school. Annabelle knows she has no right to worry, seeing as she was the one to break it off with Fenris, but she can't help herself. As much as her mom may hate it, Annabelle really did care for the hybrid, and she wanted to be with her.

Sighing she looked down at the empty cafeteria table in front of her, she had forgotten to make her lunch and didn't have any money. Worrying about Fenris though put her stomach in knots, so she didn't think she'd be able to eat anyways.

"Annabelle, are you okay?"

Looking up Annabelle saw Elisa drinking a blood packet, she had forgotten that the vampire was sitting across from her. Elisa was wearing a short black skirt and a silver blouse making her look like a businesswoman. Elisa's blue eyes were staring at Annabelle with a confused and worried look.

"Annabelle, are you okay? You've sighed three times since sitting down." Elisa asked, putting down the blood and adjusting her glasses that were falling off her small nose.

Annabelle thought about telling her everything. Telling her about Fenris, about her mother, and about her inner thoughts. She should probably tell Mary or Ray first, but a voice in the back of her head told her she needs to tell Fenris before she tells them. Annabelle didn't want to listen to the voice, but she knew that she had to be the one to tell Fenris, because if she told Mary Mary would tell Ray and Ray would tell Fenris. Fenris deserved to hear all of this from her.

Deciding she needs to tell someone Annabelle stands up, goes around the table and grabs Elisa's wrist pulling her out of the seat.

"Annabelle? What's going on? Where are we going?" Elisa questions, but Annabelle ignores her.

Dragging Elisa out of the cafeteria she sees a girls bathroom and pulls her inside. Letting go of Elisa's wrist Annabelle checks to see if anyone is inside. Seeing no one Annabelle turns to Elisa who is waiting, her arms crossed and right eyebrow raised.

Then the dam breaks, all the emotions Annabelle has been pushing down surface and she starts crying. Elisa's expression quickly changes to worry as she rushes to Annabelle and pulls her into a hug.

"I-I f-found m-my m-mate last f-friday." Annabelle was able to choke out through the tears.

"Is that why you're crying? Annabelle that's amazing! I'm so happy for you, who is he?" Elisa whispers, rubbing circles on the crying girls back trying to get her to relax.

"I-It's not a he, it's a s-she." Annabelle states, holding onto Elisa tighter, not ready for the disgusted look on her friends face.

"Oh. Who is she?"

Pulling back Annabelle looks into Elisa's brilliant blue eyes, trying to find any hint of hate or disgust, but she didn't find any.

"You don't find it disgusting that I like girls and have a girl as a mate?" she asked, confused.

Elisa giggled, "Annabelle I'm a vampire, we live for hundreds of years, I may have been protected by my family because I'm weaker, but I'm around a hundred and sixty years old. I have seen many forms of love through those years and I can say that as long as there is love between two people it can never be disgusting."

"You're a hundred and sixty?!"

Elisa laughed, "Yes I am." wiping Annabelle's tears she questioned, "Is that all that was bugging you or is there something else?"

"No." Annabelle pulled out of Elisa's grasp and walked to the corner off the bathroom, sliding down the wall she sat on the floor. Elisa walked over and sat next to her, grabbing Annabelle's hand. "My mate is amazing, she's strong and protects me. When I look in her eyes I can truly see that she wants to love me for the rest of my life. I feel like nothing can go wrong when she holds me, but I don't have my mate mark and she doesn't either. So when my mom realized we were mates and saw we didn't have our marks she flipped out and dragged us apart. My mom later told me that I wasn't gay and my mate wasn't a girl. When I told her she was wrong, she hit me." Annabelle broke down crying again onto Elisa's shoulder, the other girl wrapping her in a tight hug. "She hit me Elisa, my own mom hit me till I was bleeding and couldn't walk. Sunday she convinced me to break it off with my mate, she promised we would be happy, and I believed her. But after the whole thing I felt awful and confronted her, she said she never wanted me as a daughter and that she's always hated me." she nearly yelled, bawling her eyes out.

"Annabelle, you need to tell someone. Tell your dad, your sister or her mate, tell your mate. You said your mate is strong and she protects you, let her." Elisa pleaded to her friend, she hated seeing her like this and wished she could help but knew when it came to anything physical, she would just be a hindrance.

Annabelle shook her head, "My dad was there during the first beating and didn't do anything. I tried to tell Mary yesterday when I finally saw her, but my mom followed her around all day so I could never be alone with her. Also Mary's mate is my mates best friend and he would tell her."

"Okay then tell your mate."

"Fenris, her name is Fenris." Annabelle smiled thinking about the girl with black wings and golden-red eyes, but the image turned to Fenris crying, causing more tears to fall from Annabelle's eyes. "She hates me now. I broke her heart when I told her we weren't mates, if I were her I wouldn't take me back."

"I'm sure if you told her the reason she would take you back and deal with your mom, but you need to tell her first."

Sniffling Annabelle nodded. "I will. I'll tell her the next time I see her."

Elisa smiled and squeezed Annabelle in a hug. "There you go." Pulling back she grabbed Annabelle's face, "You went from an abusive pack to finding your mate to your mom abusing you, this doesn't have to be a cycle as long as you tell someone who can help you."

Annabelle smiled, "Thanks Elisa, I'm so glad you're my best friend."

Elisa leaned forwards and kissed Annabelle on the forehead. "Of course my bff. Now we just need to come up with a way for you to get out of that house."

"I was thinking that once I make up with Fenris I could possibly move in with her or into the pack house with Ray."

"Okay, that's a good plan, but you might not make up with Fenris for a while. You need to get out of that house as soon as possible."

Annabelle thought about her options. She could just move into the pack house, but Ray would ask her why and on top of that she would have to fill out a form and because she's a minor her parents would be informed. It was a decent option but not the best.

"I know! Why don't you come live with me! I have tons of room since it's just me and my parents right now." Elisa exclaimed, practically bouncing around on the floor.

"Really? You'd let me move in with you? What about your parents wouldn't they mind some random girl all of a sudden living with them?"

"Don't worry about my parents, as long as you don't threaten us they will be fine with it. Go home tonight and grab everything you can grab, I'll be outside at midnight."

For what felt like the hundredth time today Annabelle teared up and hugged her friend, thankful for her caring nature.

The two girls sat on the bathroom floor for what felt like hours, just enjoying the friendship between them, until Annabelle phone chimed. Pulling her phone out Annabelle saw she had a text from someone. Unlocking her phone Annabelle read the message, and fear gripped her.

Mom: I found someone to be your mate. Come home now to meet them.
