10 Chapter 10: Fenris

The Family dinner.

Fenris had been freaking out about it since Ray told her she was going. She kept feeling like something important was going to happen and so she wanted to look and act her best. At one point she even called Ray for advice on what she should wear,he had told her dress like she normally does.

So that's what Fenris did. She had set out a black t-shirt with black jeans that she could change into when she got home from school. Then at lunch she was ignoring Ray and Mary's attempts at getting her attention and had looked for websites on decent table edicate. She had learned so many things her head had started spinning. Giving up on learning all the info from the websites she had decided to keep everything simple and try to be as polite as possible.

She turned in her two projects that were due but other than that she couldn't focus on school. So when the last bell finally rang at 3:15PM she was out the door and heading home.

Now she was sitting on her bed naked staring into space. She had been doing this for an hour. She didn't think that the outfit was good enough and now was contemplating not going to the dinner at all. Fenris stood up and started pacing, not bothering to even cover herself since she lived alone. Should she go, should she not go.

Her anxiety was making her freak out more so than usual and made her not want to go. But something in her was telling her she needed to. Her instincts were telling her that if she didn't go she would regret the decision for the rest of her life.

Shaking her head she walked out of her room, [Maybe a hot shower will clear my mind.]

------------

Having taken a quick shower Fenris walked back into her room with a towel around her body, and the determination to go to the dinner. Something good was going to happen, she could feel it, and she wasn't going to miss it because she was anxious. Fenris had always wanted this, a family gathering, and she wasn't going to let her nerves stop her from finally having it.

She quickly dried her body and wrapped the towel around her long black hair. Grabbing a dark blue bra and black boy shorts she threw them on before she walked back to her bed where the clothes she had picked out earlier layed.

Deciding to stick with the outfit she originally picked out Fenris grabbed the black jeans and pulled them on. As she was reaching for the shirt a burning pain raced through her back causing her to fall on her knees. Curling up on the floor in the fetal position she clutched at the towel that had fallen off her head so she wouldn't put puncture wounds in her arms from her nails.

When the pain finally subsided she stood up on shaky legs and went to her bathroom. Walking in she looked at her back in the mirror. There in her reflection, she saw blood. The scars from her wings had opened, indicating that by tomorrow afternoon her wings would be back and on full display.

Grunting through the pain Fenris cleaned up the blood. The start of her wings coming back always hurt the most, but after the first shoke it got better. Washing the blood from the sink Fenris threw the towel she used in the washer.

Looking back in the mirror she could see the tips of her black wings coming out. She never knew how she could hide them, it was just something she thought about happening and it did. But like she said earlier, Fenris could only hide her wings for one week a month.

She went back to her room and put on the shirt. Fixing her hair Fenris saw that her black locks were getting long, they were nearly to her lower back, she made a mental note to get a haircut tomorrow. Looking at the time she saw it was a little after 5PM and it took thirty minutes to get to the Carter pack house.

Fenris put on her boots and then grabbed her leather jacket walking out the door. Getting into her car she quickly texted Ray she was on her way, and then synced her music to her car. The playlist consisted of bands like The 1975 and Five Finger Death Punch, even some classical pieces. One of her favorite songs, Wrong Side Of Heaven by Five Finger Death Punch started blasting through the car speakers.

Pulling out of the parking lot Fenris turned down the road and headed for the Carter pack house. [Goddess, please let this dinner go well.]
