[Yes No]

'Oh, that's...very surprising.'

The forefinger of my free hand taps [Yes], initiating the download of the folder which I watch in awe.

Animal skills... After finding out what universe I'm in, the last few days I've been so focused on hunter stuff, on the supernatural creatures that exist in this world, that it didn't even cross my mind the possibility of what I could gain from 'ordinary' animals .

"Meow" The kitten meows and rubs his face against my fingers, complaining that I stopped and asking me to continue petting him. Not being able to say no to something so adorable, I continue.

Spending the seconds touching his fur, the rascal is even more daring, using his paws to hold my hand and starting to bite my fingers. The bites are not strong at all, just common play of cat puppy.

It makes the expression on my face even happier, my already soft heart completely melting at the act.

"Hey, aren't you getting a little too comfortable with someone you just met?" A rhetorical question, of course, as I wave my fingers like panicked prey to stir up the cat's play.

"You know, I have-... I had a black cat that looked just like you." I correct my tense, as I highly doubt I'll see him, or anyone I knew, again for years to come.

"...He was energetic, joking like that all the time too."

My eyes cloud a little saddened with some memories running through my head. Memories of special moments with my family and friends in my original universe.

'I've been here for over a week, I must have been reported missing over there... My mother must be very worried.'

I think, feeling my heart sink at the scenery. One more of the many loops on this roller coaster of emotions that is being transmigrated.

looking down at the kitten again, I see that it has stopped playing with my hand. The cat is curled up with its ears flattened, a sign of fear, its eyes glazed in the direction of the street ahead of the alley exit.

When I partially turn around, to find out what he was looking at, I see the source of the little one's fear across the street.

The figure of a woman walking on the sidewalk opposite the one we're on is quite ordinary looking, but an intense shiver runs up my spine just by laying eyes on her, an invisible aura of death surrounding her.

"A reaper..." I whisper, following her a little with my eyes. She walks unhurriedly in the same direction as Sam's address, which honestly gives me a bad feeling.

"I better hurry." Not taking my eyes off her, I sling the straps of my bags over my shoulders and stand up, ready to follow her.

"Meow." Realizing that I was about to leave, when I take my first step to continue towards my goal, the little black puppy makes a sad meow, coming to rub against one of my boots, catching my attention.

"Hey..." I lift said foot off the ground, using it to push the cat very lightly, trying to get it away from me. "...I can not stay with you." I'm going to hunt a demon tonight, and even if I wasn't, I doubt my journey through this world from here on out will be safe enough to have a pet with me.

"Meow." But he doesn't give up on it, coming to me again, even though he's pulled away. It's hard for someone as soft-hearted as I am, but I must be firm.

"Little buddy, I just can't-"

Dizziness hits me suddenly, along with a burning sensation at the bottom of my eyeballs, making me, in fright, take disorderly steps backwards, in an attempt to 'retreat' from the pain. Which doesn't work at all, it actually only makes the situation worse, because I step on what I imagine is the edge of the sidewalk and land on the asphalt.

"Ouh, damn it."

The burning only grows for the next few seconds, also spreading in a small way throughout my head and then to the rest of my body. Every bone and tissue burns, I can feel them being altered, some moved from place, others completely reformed, all this in a very short period of time that happily ends.

"Seriously... What the fuck-" I'm about to curse like I usually do at these times, but my voice comes out at the same volume as a scream, causing me to stop to cover my ears while keeping my eyes closed. And to my greatest dismay, the very contact of the glove against my ears sounds like thunder to my eardrums, giving me a second fright.

In this act, curiously I can perfectly hear the rubbing of my clothes with the small movements I make. I also hear the movement of my ribcage with each breath, even if I'm not breathing particularly fast; I catch my own heartbeat much more clearly than ever before, even if I don't feel it beating in an abnormal rhythm.

~Hey, are you okay, lad?~ An unknown voice reaches my covered ears in an innocent tone, of a child by the childish timbre.

"I... There!" I try to open my eyes while answering in a whisper, but the ambient brightness is too much, allowing me to do it so quickly.

"I'll stay... Just give me a moment." I ask by speaking as low as I can, which comes out at normal volume, so to speak.

~All good.~ The voice answers.

Taking my time, I try to open my eyelids again, but much more slowly, allowing my eyes to adapt leisurely to the light, exactly as one does when going out in the sun when one has a severe migraine.

'Wow.'

Managing to use my sense of sight again, I find in front of me what looks like a much better lit version of the nightscape of the street where Sam Winchester lives.

I turn my attention to the alley from before, from which I feel a rather strong stench coming out. I could barely see a subway inside it due to the low lighting, but now I can see it from beginning to end, seeing only a slight dimness in place of the previous total darkness.

I sigh carefully, I understand completely now.

'Man, what a difficult system to deal with.' The burn from before was my body being biologically altered by the cat's files, which are also responsible for greatly improving my senses, explaining the problems I'm having with my hearing and vision.

~Is it okay yet?~ And speaking of him, here it is, the source of the childish voice, the little black kitten sitting three feet in front of me.

"Yes, I am now, thank you." I nod, much calmer.

It's a little strange to hear a cat talking like a human child right in front of me, of course, but thinking of [Animal Language] as a new addition to my 'superpowers', I feel pretty comfortable with it.

~Got it, got it, that's good-WAIT IT!~ The black kitten suddenly jumps back with an ear-piercing meow. ~CAN YOU UNDERSTAND ME?~

I eye him for a bit, before smiling, finding it really cute how long it took him to figure it out.

"Yes that's right."

As soon as I finish talking, I'm already slinging the suitcases on my shoulders again and getting up from the floor. My movement is smooth, on a whole new level of balance.

"It was nice to meet you little friend, but this is where we must part ways." I turn, staring seriously at the distant back of the reaper from earlier, which has already covered a block and a half ahead of me.

"I still have a hunt to do and a bad feeling to unravel."

Leaving the little black cat there, I resume my march towards altering the fate of this universe.

--Stanford, California, United States, November 1st (Halloween) 04:28 AM...

After walking again, I kept an eye out for the reaper going in the same direction as I was, until, passing a light pole, it disappeared from view as mysteriously as it had appeared. It gave me some relief as it was one less thing to worry about... For the moment at least.

Arriving at Sam's address that was in the database, more precisely in a kind of parking lot near the back exit of the building, it doesn't take more than a single glance to be sure it's the right place. Not that I remember exactly what this building that appeared in a single episode of the show looked like, but the dashing 1967 Impala parked next to a staircase is indicative and very strong.

For a moment I feel my fan side tempting me to approach the car which, due to its immense participation in the plot, is probably the most important object in this universe, but I am stopped by the sound of a hand slamming open a metal gate with an amount of strength that, at the very least, indicates a bad mood.

With newly acquired sharp reflexes, I turn away at once and, dressed fully in black, hide perfectly in the dense shadows in a nearby corner where the streetlights don't reach.

Two sets of steps, both men by weight, step out of the gate and start up a short flight of stairs that leads down to street level as they seem to argue.

"Guns training? Melting silver to make bullets?" A familiar voice and a line of text I'm familiar enough with to tell you what's next:

'Come on, Dean, we were raised as warriors.' I speak in my mind. My eyes able to see perfectly in the current lighting, watching young Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles enter the scene.

"Fine, and what are you going to do? Do you want to lead a normal life?" Dean retorts with a hint of mockery, turning to face his younger brother. "And that?"

"No, not normal..." Samuel shakes his head. "Safe."

"I-" Dean cuts himself off, stopping to look behind Sam, in the direction I'm standing.

'What?! Did he notice me?' My eyes widen in the dark. 'Like this?!' Indignation, for being completely immobile as I am, I'm sure human eyes shouldn't be able to find me.

"What it was?" Sam asks his older brother, who keeps looking my way.

"It's just... I feel like we're being watched." I freeze completely with this line. And hearing Dean, Sam jumps to attention, slowly turning his body towards me as well.

A little beyond the feeling of being discovered, having the eyes of the two Winchesters turned towards me, makes me uncomfortable. A sound resembling static from an old tube TV starts hissing in my right ear… I didn't hear that noise at the time, but it reminds me of when Sam knocked me over at the party.

The brothers take a step towards the shadow I'm in, while I remain in a daze. "Who's there?" Dean asks aloud, placing a hand over a gun he has inside his clothes.

'What do I do now? Do I go out?.. Am I still here?' My thoughts are clouded by the noise and the strange sensation, not allowing me to come to any conclusions.

With no response, Dean finishes pulling the gun, a black pistol used by police on a day-to-day basis, wielding it, carefully begins to approach with Sam in his rear.

Eight, seven... He's six steps away from getting close enough distance to actually make out a little bit of my figure in the darkness.

When... Small steps are taken out of the same shadow I'm hiding in. The steps are silent enough for the self in this situation to realize who took them only when he is already in the light.

"Meow." My hero, the little black kitten meows coming up next to Dean's feet.
