Chapter 23: Report - Low quality Scarecrow

John H. POV

"I'd like you to meet the core group of the organisation..."

Saying this, I introduced them to my friends who had come over for a meeting and a report of our missions all over the organisations, which would be important for keeping track of changes in levels of occurrence, an example of which was the first mission debriefing we received.

Agent 2311 POV (report)

We were informed of our mission, which would lead us to a small town in Indiana where they had received a lot of missing persons reports from every year, and our "sensors" had detected an energy level of 2, but it was spread all throughout the town and the farms related to it, focusing on a single point.

Upon reaching the place, we were met with a subtle hostile environment and set up camp in a small area after cleansing and hiding it from the local population and building a small shack visible to all there so that they wouldn't question where we were coming from. After that, we went to check the area for any signs of residual energies, which were mainly focused on a particular apple farm.

Upon reaching the farm, we quickly went through a search using the equipment provided by the organisation for the purpose, and I thank God for that, as I don't think we'd have been able to find some of the clues we did without that equipment.

Firstly, we found quite a few of the belongings of the people supposed to be missing broken or torn and buried there, confirming that this was the main reason for the disappearances. We also found that the concentration point for the energies was in a shitty-looking scarecrow, I kid you not.

The thing was huge, and somehow it felt like hay and old clothes weren't everything that was used in making it. No, there was certainly something weird, like parts of the human body or something else used in making these... Which, well, to be fair, gave us an idea for what the potential cause could be; we therefore sent a request out for a higher-up to come over, which you could find in the portal of our organisation...We also checked the local mechanic once as we saw signs of cars stopping there abruptly before the signals stopped and the people disappeared.

While we were waiting for the results, we also mapped the area and checked for any other signs in the town that would indicate some foul play, as that'd turn this into a case of sacrificial nature and would involve other things to take into consideration.

Upon checking the area, we also found a moving energy concentration point that was smaller in power but still did it as it was a concentration point visible in a level 2 field of influence. We also found relatives "mysteriously" appearing and people supposedly going missing over the years, as there were quite a few people who had no relations whatsoever with people who they resided with and who allegedly were their "relatives". For example, we found a young woman whose parents had mysteriously disappeared, but upon checking through our database, we found her to be related to one of the couples who had gone missing but had no relation to the people who she was staying with.

By this time, the upper-level reinforcement we were waiting for came over, and we were pleased to find it to be Miss Vanessa, as her skills in the area were exactly suited for this kind of mission.

She went on to find some shades of people who had died here and was able to get quite a bit of information from them.

Now you'd ask, What are shades, right? They are remenants of the memories and experiences of people who had their souls absorbed or captured. Now that it is out of the way, let's continue...

Once we asked the shades, we came to know that the shady-looking mechanic is the one who has "repaired" and "refilled" their cars, as well as that almost every person here is in on the ritual. This revelation and some other details about this situation made us reevaluate the issue at level 4 instead of level 2. Why, you ask? Because even a low-level deity has some sort of reality manipulation power involved. Once again, thank God (not Chucky Boi), Vanessa was the one here, as this all came directly under their domain of sorts.

Now it was time for some action, and we were nearing the date where the scarifices were made, so we had a plan. We divided ourselves into two groups: one will go directly to confront the scarecrow, and the other will go to destroy the second point, perhaps an altar or an amulet related to this "deity".

I was on the second team; it was a simple task. Actually, once we got the go-ahead, we went inside and burned it with fire. The rest of the task was done by the other team.

Vanessa POV(report)

We saw the "sacrifices" for this year being prepped up and ready to depart; we followed, using our special transport, a bit away from their car but still not letting them out of sight.

...Sometime later, as expected, the car broke down in between the roads, just where many others had as well.

We quickly went down and surrounded the car stealthily. In the meantime, I also checked the position of the major point, which would be the scarecrow, and lo and behold, the deity was using it, raising its power to almost level 4.

I was prepared, however, bringing out the special daggers we were provided by John for such scenarios. We then moved on, and as soon as we saw it, we got into action.

Firstly, two of the members of our team threw a runic net on it, which was followed by others pinning the net as well as hitting the deity with some bolts. I then quickly moved onto dodge the attack of the guy, and directly cleaved it into half, while others quickly put up kerosene, which was then lit up by the couple responsible for the net.

This is how we killed a deity or a god.

This was an idea I got, where instead of the Winchester and John dealing with everything as is in the seasons, have someone else deal with some of the easy ones in a way.
