"Could its ultimate meaning be... nonexistence?"

Jonathan took some time to converse seriously with Perinelli, Alessandro, and Mingaldi.

Their identities could be well utilized.

Perinelli was a grad student who'd long wanted to escape his advisor's academic oppression. The only reason he hadn't left was lacking a place to go and self-protection. After joining No Light, he could discard his current identity and fully focus on the organization, hiding in the shadows instead of the open.

Mingaldi was an employee at a small company that led a life of corporate drudgery, oppressed and excluded by bosses and colleagues. Her living environment wasn't great but quite safe. She could properly resign, then openly and legally join a No Light shell company through the hiring process. 

Mingaldi could serve as an ordinary employee or use her superpower, "Malice Marking," to handle some HR tasks and team up with the Meteor.
