Chapter 4 - Dojo

"Let's put aside the fight earlier and tell me what is your power?" Kyle asked as he munched the bread he had dipped in the curry. "Hmm~ Aunt Claudia's curry tastes good," exclaimed Kyle while eating the bread excitedly.

[I am a dojo system and my power will be managing a dojo] said Dodo.

"Dojo as in those dojos that train people in martial arts and self-defense?" Kyle asked and took a glass of water and drank it and continued, "I don't know any martial arts or self-defense skill so your power is useless to me. I guess you get a useless master to serve," said Kyle nonchalantly.

Kyle indeed did not know any martial arts or self-defense skills… maybe the 'one kick to the crotch' technique but that was it. He was not an athletic person and he was not interested in any kind of sport and thus, he was quite useless in that part.

[The dojo is indeed similar to the one you mention but instead of training martial arts or self-defense skills, my system is used to train magicians] said Dodo.

"Hmm~ Magician or not, in the end, I am not one of those. I am just a normal human without any knowledge of martial arts, self-defense, or magic," said Kyle and he kept on munching the bread.

"I know that the dojo that train magicians are super popular but I also know that the teachers in those dojos are high-rank magicians. What can a normal human like me achieve by opening a magician dojo?" asked Kyle.

[You read a lot of those system novels and you know my power is cheating power, you should know I will be able to cheat on something. So, I have my way to make you be able to open this dojo and turn you to a magician] said Dodo.

"Oh… I forgot about that… Then, your system is basically helping me open a dojo to train magicians and make me a magician myself? Is that it?" Kyle was a bit unimpressed with that. Helping him to become a magician was good but then helping him open a dojo was a bit underwhelming for a cheat system power.

[You are underestimating my power too much and I guess you don't know deep enough about magician's dojo] said Dodo.

"Are there any difference between the normal dojo and the magician's dojo?" Kyle asked because he was a bit interested to hear. He indeed did not know much about magician's dojo other than it was a place magicians went to train… safely. They went to train in the wild too by fighting monsters but came to the dojo to train without any danger.

[Obviously, the main difference will be the type of people they train. However, the magician's dojo is deeper than those normal dojos] said Dodo.

He continued, [There are three types of magician's dojo in the universe. One was the most common dojo, they open the dojo purely for business, I mean money. This kind of dojo usually offers a place in their dojos for any magicians who want to test or train their skill.]

[The place that they are offering was not a normal room but it is reinforced with material, magic, and technology to withstand magic skills. If a magician wants to test their newly learned skill, they will come to this dojo to test them on instead in the wild because the skill might be unstable and dangerous to use on monsters.]

[Other than that, they also offer a place for the magician to spar with other magicians for fighting experience because, in this day and age, monsters are not the only things that are dangerous, humans are more dangerous.]

[You should also know that the universal law is strict and it is bad news for magicians to fight each other in the open as the law enforcer will chase them to the end of the universe. So, these dojos offer a place for them to duke it out between themselves.]

[They will also once in a while catch living monsters and offer the magician for a chance to kill a monster there] explained Dodo.

[As they are offering these services, all the magicians need to do is pay the fee. Magicians are usually rich, so they will not have any problem paying money for a place to train or fight.]

Kyle nodded as he understood what Dodo said and asked, "What about the second type?" Since Dodo said there were three types of magician's dojo. He explained the first one and Kyle wanted to know the second one.

[The second type of magician's dojo is only open to people that they choose. This type of dojo's focus is not to make money but to pass down magic skills to their trainees. The owner of these dojos is usually a super-strong magician who wants to teach their magic skills to other promising magicians.]

[In other words, they are like small clans. Instead of receiving customers, they take apprentices. Ah, they also blatantly said they are taking apprentices. Many magicians want to get into one of these dojos because most of the students from these kinds of dojo are strong compare to their peers from the first type of dojo]

"I guess the third type will be the combination of both the first and second type of dojo," said Kyle as he had a feeling that that would be the case. Why not pass the skill while earning money?

[Yes, you're right] Dodo confirmed Kyle's deduction.

"So, which type is your power capable of?" Kyle asked Dodo. He was a bit interested in these dojo stuff after hearing about it. Kyle had a feeling that it would be the first type because he was not a super-strong magician, so he couldn't pass on any skills. The third type was impossible too since he could not do the second type.

[Oh, we will be the fourth type. I am a cheat power after all. We cannot be the same as others] said Dodo proudly.

Kyle pursed his lips and asked, "We will do all but add extra things?"

[Yes. My power is more than that. I know you are worried because you are not a strong magician but I will handle all of that] said Dodo confidently.

"So, what should I do first?" Kyle knew that although Dodo would handle the hard stuff, he would need to move his ass a lot so that Dodo would be able to handle the hard stuff because Dodo was inside him.

[Quit your college] said Dodo.

Kyle who had been munching on the bread without stopping for the first time, "Are you crazy?!! Do you know how much and how hard it is to enter college? You don't know how long I study just to barely pass the entrance exam!" Kyle was mad.

He remembered that he would always sleep late, around one or two hours each day because he was studying. He did not go out or play games and focused most of his time to study. He worked hard to enter college.

He also knew how hard his parents had worked day and night for his college fees and did not want to waste all that hard work especially his parents had just passed away.

Dodo felt Kyle's emotion and he realized he had made a mistake. [Urm… I am sorry, master.] Dodo did not dare to call Kyle by his name. [I didn't mean to undermine Master and Master's parents' hard work and sacrifice. There is a reason why I want Master to quit college. It is because of one of my powers.]

Kyle did not say anything. He was angry and Dodo decided to continue, [One of my powers is called the hyper brain. With this power, anything that master reads and sees will be recorded and turned to data. Master will be able to access this data anytime master wants to the perfect details.]

[Not only that, with this power, I will be able to process all this data and improve them with all the data available in the storage. Master can say it is something like supercomputer but more flexible because I am not a computer]

[In a sense, Master will be a super genius and there is no point for Master to continue Master's studies…] said Dodo and there was no response from Kyle.

[Master?] Dodo called Kyle.

Kyle heard everything and he tried to calm himself. "Does that work on magic books too?" Kyle asked and he continued, "I mean the part where you will improve the data."

Dodo was happy that Kyle seemed to find some kind of reasoning to what he said earlier and Dodo joyfully answered Kyle's question. [Yes, with enough information, I will be able to improve the magic skill on the skill book. It is also possible to create a new skill altogether.]

A magic skill was not like those skills from games where when you level up, you will gain it freely or buy the skill from a shop and immediately learn it. In reality, it was really hard to learn a magic skill. There were a lot of methods to be done to learn the skill.

First would be an understanding of the skill and thus, the theory behind the skill was mentioned in the skill book. Without any understanding, it would be impossible to learn the skill.

The second was to calculate the formula of the skill to suit the one who would be going to learn it. There were complex formulas needed to be calculated when learning a skill. The calculation was done because no human was the same and thus, the formula was different from people to people.

If a magician followed the example of calculation mentioned in the skill book without calculating it by themselves, they might receive the repercussion when trying to construct the magic skill. Thus, there would be a formula in the magic book and all the magicians needed to do was follow the formula and calculate it themselves.

The same type of magic skill book might have different types of formula because the one making the skill book was different people and they would use different types of formula. Thus, some magicians would usually buy a few of the same skill books from different shops to create their formula to suit themselves.

It was fine to follow the formula to a tee without creating their own formula but the results might not be satisfactory.

Third was to construct the schematic diagram of the magic skill using the calculation they had made. The first construct would be on paper and the next would be in the soul. If by chance the calculation was wrong or unsuitable for the magician, he would get the backlash when he tried to construct the schematic diagram in his soul.

However, all of this was hard to those that were not rich enough. For those super-rich magicians, they could get themselves a supercomputer to calculate and construct everything. It was the age of magic and technologies. The supercomputer was good enough to do the calculation though it would still take about a month for the most basic of magic skill. That was how complex a magic skill was.

Upon hearing Dodo's answer, Kyle's mood turned better. He did want to continue the skill book shop but he was not smart enough to manage the shop. With Dodo's power, it would be possible for him to make the skill book better.

If he opened the dojo like Dodo's suggestion, he might be able to sell the improved version of his parents' skill book. "At least I can keep continuing my parents' business," thought Kyle "But still… quitting the college might not be a good idea," Kyle was still hesitating if he wanted to follow Dodo's suggestion or not.

Feeling Kyle's hesitation, Dodo did not want to force him. He was Kyle's servant and not his master. He could give suggestions but if Kyle refused, he should not force him. Dodo took a step back and said, [Then master, how about we wait until you graduate before we open the dojo?]

"Hmm?" Kyle was surprised to hear Dodo said that.

[We will use the time you are in college to collect a lot of data. Our first target will be learning everything you need to study for your college subject. After that is done, we will start collecting data regarding everything else. Let's read all the books in the library, all the books online, let's see many things and turn them all into data.]

[Once you graduate, we will have massive data and from that, we will make the most awesome dojo in the multiverse!] Dodo suddenly became excited. He said that earlier to lighten Kyle's mood but when he was saying that, more and more things pop up in his mind.

Dodo was thinking that if they rushed to open the dojo, it might be a bad idea because they had nothing at the moment. Yes, Dodo was a cheat power but before he could cheat, he needed resources and his resources were data.

Since the best way for Dodo to utilize his power was by transforming knowledge and information to data and then, improved them, it was better to take their time collecting data. Kyle had two more years before he graduated and two years was more than enough to get massive data.

Dodo knew exactly his power and he knew that learning all the syllabus for Kyle's college would take him less than an hour. After that, they could focus on collecting other things.

Dodo talked more and more and the more he talked the more he realized this would be the best way. Dodo suddenly realized that he should think properly about Kyle's opinion. He finally realized he was really a baby and there were many things he needed to learn.

Kyle listened to everything Dodo said and he smiled. He was happy that Dodo decided to follow his idea. With that out of the way, Kyle continued cleaning the shop. He had not touched anything for a week and decided to continue cleaning it.

While cleaning the shop, Dodo suggested for Kyle to read the magic book his parents had made to increase the data… Dodo had nothing actually so the magic book was the first data they stored.

Kyle realized that it was so easy to store the data because all he needed to do was look at it once and everything would be stored by Dodo. If he wanted to have that data, he needed to ask Dodo and Dodo would transfer it to his head and he would never forget it. Easy.

Dodo also realized something when he stored his first batch of data. He knew about his ability to improve something from the data he collected but he needed enough data to improve things. He finally knew he made the right decision to collect more data first before they opened the dojo.

This decision was made for both of them because they both had many things to learn.

Days 30, Month 3, Winter, Year 3020.

It had been six months since Kyle met Dodo. He had been continuing his studies in college as they had been planning before. His college semester ended a month ago and he went through the semester's final exam effortlessly. The result had yet to come out but he knew he would ace it.

Kyle was currently working part-time in a small company producing building materials. His aim was the same as he and Dodo planned, collecting data. He had been collecting everything possible in the company.

He felt bad because he was like a corporate spy but he was not a saint. He wanted to succeed too and he would do everything as planned.

While he was working, he suddenly got a message from Okev. He read the message and it looked like the exam result was out. Kyle immediately opened it to see what he got and he smiled once he saw the result.

"Thanks, Dodo," Kyle was the no 1 student for the semester and he knew he should thank Dodo because it was because of him he could do well in his exam. Not only that, if he did the other faculties exam, he would be no 1 too since he had stored every knowledge in the college's library, he had even finished the city's library too.

Days 18, Month 2, Summer, Year 3021

Kyle was now well known in the college to be a genius as he became the no 1 student in his college for two semesters. During the past months, Kyle had been participating in every competition or project the college made. He had been representing the college for many competitions too and won all of them.

There was a reason why Kyle had been participating in all of these competitions and projects. He needed to travel to many places to see many things all for the sake of collecting more data. If he participates in these events, the college would cover all the traveling expenses and he could visit many cities on the planet.

His method worked and he had been traveling around to many cities on Planet Mykon and he had collected a lot of data. The best city he had visited was a B grade city and he harvested the most things there because the city was massive with many huge libraries around the city and many magic book shops too.

Days 28, Month 3, Summer, Year 3022.

Two years had passed since Kyle met Dodo. During the past two years, Kyle and Dodo had been going to many places on Planet Mykon to collect data and they had collected massive data that could be used to improve many things.

A few months ago, Kyle was allowed to do an internship with a big company producing many kinds of technology in one of the four A-grade cities. There, he had collected many useful data that could be used for the establishment of his dojo. He felt like the best harvest he had was at that company.

At the moment, Kyle was sitting on a chair in a massive hall. Around him were many other students and they all wore the same clothes as Kyle. They all wore the graduation coat (A/N: I google but I cannot find the words for the coat in English -_-) because it was their graduation day.
