12 Chapter 12

'Completely unharmed?!'-Mikasa.

Her home was practically without any signs of destruction. Eren didn't much care why that was and just kept running with his hope growing as he got closer to his home, but Mikasa was quite surprised by what she saw. She could even pray that her home had not been hit, but she still knew that it was extremely difficult for such a miracle to occur.

Still, she chose to ignore whatever was happening and focused solely on reaching her home as quickly as possible to escape from that place. As they approached their goal at this very moment, Sukasa and Carla opened the door and rushed out of the house.

"Eren/Mikasa!" - Carla and Sukasa.

"Mom!!! Let's run away soon!!!" - Eren.

"Let's go fast!" - Mikasa.

The two mothers immediately took the hands of their respective children and were about to run towards the opposite gate, which led out of the city. However, they were interrupted by humanity's greatest enemy.

"u-a titan." - Sukasa beginning to tremble at the menacing aura that the yellow-haired titan radiated.

(This is that same titan that ate Eren's mother at the beginning of the anime)

The four remained still, not knowing if running would do any good or if it would spell the end for one of them or even for all of them. It was at this instant that Eren clenched his closed fists even harder and bit his own lips.

"Those bastards!!!" - Eren beginning his onslaught against the titan.

"Eren!" - Carla reaches out her hand in an attempt to hold him back, but failing in the process.

In the same second, a soldier from the garrison troop descended from the skies using his DMT equipment. It was Hannes, who managed to catch up with the reckless boy and pin him down.

"Eren! Calm down! What can you do without even having a blade?!" - Hannes holding the boy by his scarf and throwing him back to his mother.

"*aaaargh* Hannes-san?!" - Eren.

"Just wait, I'll take care of this titan!" - Hannes.

Saying this, the soldier pulled out two blades stored in his DMT and set off to attack the enemy giant. However, only after a few meters away his steps suddenly stopped and his body began to hesitate as he faced the terrifying look and smile of the monster in front of him.

Making a quick decision in his mind, he put away the two blades and ran back toward the four who were waiting for Hannes to slaughter the titan.

"Let's run!!! Hurry!!!" - Hannes.

"Aren't you going to kill him?!" - Eren.

Ignoring the boy's question, the garrison trooper took the two children on his shoulders.

"Run!" - Hannes to the two women.

Everyone started to run fiercely away from that titan to take another path, but as soon as they turned the first corner, they ran into yet another titan almost the same height as the last one. At this moment, they found themselves completely ambushed by the two titans.

"Shit!" - Hannes.

"Please! Somebody help us, please!" - Sukasa placing his hand in the form of a prayer.

The two titans, who were coming from the front and the back, stood only a few feet away and reached out their hands to grab the five humans they were chasing. The Soldier, the two Ackerman women and the Yeager realized that there was nowhere left to run and simply closed their eyes as they awaited their end, except for Mikasa who was still looking at something.

*DING*

Hearing a loud sound similar to a bell, everyone opened their eyes at the same time, only to see the arms of the two titans lying on the ground as they caught fire.

"Huh? What happened?" - Hannes.

*GRROOOOOOOOW* - Scream from the two titans.

"A-there..." - Mikasa with wide eyes extends her arm and points to a single place.

They turned their gazes in the direction pointed by the girl's finger. What appeared in their visions was only a person standing on the roof of one of the nearby houses, holding a golden sword in his right hand.

"Who is that?!" - Eren.

Hearing the boy's words, the person raised his sword towards the sun and uttered the following words.

"I am the one who is above everyone and everything!"

In the blink of an eye he leaped into the heavens and increased his grip on the sword handle. The ambient heat quickly rose, and several waves of heat began to emit from the golden blade. In a matter of seconds, the boy began to descend toward the blond-haired titan.

The golden blade was now being guided towards the back of the titan's head, at high speed and without any hesitation.

"Sōrākatto"

In the next instant, the titan's entire head detached itself from its body and flew away as it caught fire. However, the blow did not stop there yet. As it passed through the neck, a blade shaped like a half-moon and composed only of fire made its way towards the neck of the other titan that was still bewildered, also cutting its head off.

Everyone was speechless and completely shocked by the scene before them, their eyes wide open and dumbfounded by how unreal such a feat was.

The man, his face completely covered by a hood, landed on the ground next to them on his back, preventing them from having any chance to visualize his features.

"Hurry up you foolish beings and leave for the gate. I'll make sure those vermin get out of the way."

"Wha-?" - Eren, who has just been interrupted.

"Let's go now!" - Mikasa.

"S-yes" - Hannes, Sukasa and Carla.

The group started running with everything they had towards the gate that led to the boats. The two mothers saw up close all the destruction and catastrophe throughout the city and were horrified and at the same time grateful to the man because he probably saved them before the titans even showed up.

As for the mysterious boy, he was quietly killing all the titans that appeared along the path of the family and the soldier. Apparently he didn't want to attract unnecessary attention.

A few moments later, they finally reached the gate and quickly headed toward the boat that was close to leaving for the rose wall.

"Let them in!" - Hannes making his way through the crowd and speaking to his friends from the garrison troop.

It didn't take long for the two Ackerman and the two Yeager to get a place inside the boat thanks to Hannes' influence. After dropping them off at the boat, the soldier headed for the last gate that prevented the titans from completely invading the maria wall.

"Who was that guy?! He was very arrogant!" - Eren is a little irritated by the man's arrogance and with great envy of his strength.

"Don't be ungrateful, Eren! We would be dead if he didn't save us." - Carla.

"Carla is right. If it weren't for him finishing off the titans along the way, we wouldn't have reached the boat so quickly." - Sukasa.

Suddenly, the mysterious titan-killer fell from the sky and landed on the boat. More specifically in front of Mikasa, surprising her and the others around.

'They haven't changed hardly at all...' - Boy with a slight smile on his lips.

Without giving anyone time to say anything, he reached inside his shirt pocket and pulled out some sort of completely sealed letter. With the letter in hand, the boy squatted down at the girl's ear height and whispered to her.

"Go immediately to that address on the rose wall, on trost, deliver that letter to the arrogant fool and you will get clues to your brother's whereabouts." - He whispered in the girl's ears so that only she could hear.

Without giving the girl any chance to answer, he handed her the letter and ran to the edge of the boat, where he jumped into the sky again.
