20. Lesson

Alex came to the gymnasium amongst the greetings and offers of being friends from others which he declined by saying that he was busy.

After entering the gym, he was guided towards a private arena. Which you can book and have all to yourself. This facility tho was only available to students and the staff of school.

Inside, he saw a dwarf like guy with a buff body. He was clad in armour and gave a valiant and confident aura around him.

Just sitting there, he could pressure someone with his will. You could tell that this man had gone through his fair share of bloodshed and battles.

"A young child who thinks that he can be some kind of badass if he wields an axe". The guy said in a gruff and crass tone.

"You boy are just playing around without the bearing of what an axe wielder should be". He continued and read Alex like an open book just from his walking demeanour.

Alex straightened his chest as he looked at the dwarf with momentum in his body. "I am not an Axe wielder? And who decided that". Alex said as he looked straight into the dwarf's eyes without losing his ground.

"Very well boy, I can at least tell that you can be made into an axe wielder by my hands. I shall teach you from now on. You can call me Gimli". The dwarf said as he at least recognised Alex's pride and courage.

Hearing the name and matching the face, Alex was enlightened and started fanboying inside. 'I accomplished everything in life, I met fucking Gimli. Take that'. He was over the moon as he realised who was his instructor now.

"Yes teacher". Alex shouted but his attitude was anything hut subservient.

"Axe is a weapon that demands absolute control of your back, core and the calfs. Then you make the other muscles work in conjecture with them to display more power than you have". Gimli stood up in all his approximately 140cm glory.

Although he was small in height but the momentum and strength radiating was anything but small. He was like a boiling volcano, ready to erupt any second.

Alex got a first hand experience of what a battle hardened person could look like and what kind of momentum he could possess.

Raikou was stronger than Gimli but she was usually just like a sweet mother in front Alex without any of her momentum. She does erupts sometimes when she quarrels with her sisters back home but those are just minor episodes in his life.

"I will show you on how wield an axe one hour every week and it will be your job to practice at home. At the end of every month, we will spar to see your progress". Gimli said as he looked at Alex with a serious expression.

"Understood". Alex replied as he took a wooden axe from one of the stands on the side.

"Your teachers and instructors have already informed me in your handling of the axe. You are just recklessly swinging it with no technique". Gimli said as he took a combat stance in front of Alex.

He held axe straight close to him in a vertical position with both hands. He had a double bladed axe that was as tall or even taller than him.

"Even overwhelming force for which an axe and Hammer are known for can multiply their power if wielded correctly". He said and took a swing in front of Alex.

Gimli purposefully slowed himself down as he showed him how his body moves every time he swings his axe in different directions.

"Teacher, I want to learn both One handed and two handed Axes as well as Hand to hand combat". Alex said as he looked at Gimli with shining eyes. He knew that he can learn some good techniques from Gimli on axe wielding.

"It's no problem, we will focus on one handed Axe first for you then move onto a two handed one. I also have my Combat skills that I use with my axe. You can choose to follow them or create your own". Gimli nodded his head as he agreed.

"Now quit wasting time and start swinging your axe. I will see and correct your posture". Gimli said with annoyance and anger as he saw Alex just standing there like an idiot.

"Yes!" Alex exclaimed and started to swing his axe like he usually does.

Gimli looked at Alex as a tick mark appeared on his head. "You are like a headless chicken just swinging that axe without even trying to increase your control over it". Gimli insulted Alex's axe handling without even masking his words.

"Try to take power from your calves and back in conjection like this". Gimli picked a one handed axe from the rack as he showed Alex.

Alex carefully looked at Gimli's movements and tried to swing the axe in the same way and found that he could put way more power into his strikes than before.

If he fought Orion now, he could probably break his spear in half with a single strike and even break the guys hands just from the vibrations bought with the strike.

"Good, now try to make it flow smoother. Your movements are too stiff like a fucking mummy". Gimli nodded but his words weren't soft at all.

Alex swung the axe in the same way may times as he slowly got accustomed to the movement although it wasn't instinctive to him yet.

Although he has a good teacher but Gimli will only teach him once a week and he might nit be available as he surely will go for hunts as well. So studying in the Dojo for Hand to hand combat will also benefit him greatly.

He didn't want to have such a big repertoire of techniques that he might never practice. He wanted to have enough technique for his combat. Like Bruce Lee said:

I don't fear a man who knows a thousand moves but a man who has practiced a move thousand times.

Moves made on the spur of the moment and instinctively are better than the moved that you have to constantly think about.

Alex spent an hour with Gimli and learnt as he much as he can in that short amount of time but he benefitted from it greatly.

(A/N: I just realised but I think we might in for a very very long ride on this one but you guys will stick around Right, Right.)
