Summoned to Deal with a Dragon (1)

Once upon a time, a small piece of stone flew across the sky, it traveled far and wide seemingly searching for something, and for some incomprehensible reason, it chose to land on my bed through the window.

How? Why? I have no clue... All that matters is it landed right beside me after breaking the glass, bizarrely it didn't have much momentum and what should have killed or seriously injured me, only startled me awake.

I woke up, took a look at the broken window, then at the small fire spreading in my bed with utter confusion. For a moment I thought I was dreaming and tried to touch the flames, feeling my hand burn made me jump as fast as humanly possible.

"My bed is on fire!" I muttered and dashed to the kitchen to get water. It took a few minutes but thankfully the fire had not spread too much.

After dealing with the fire, I took a wet towel and waved it around to make the smoke go away, the chill wind coming through the window made me shudder. I was feeling angry and frustrated; My night had been ruined, my bed was half-burnt and half-soaked, and I had a university exam in a few hours.

I cursed many things while dealing with the smoke, and after it was gone, I despaired thinking of the costs of repair to the bed and window...

In this dark hour, something caught my eye on the bed, it was a small cubic black stone covered in gently glowing azure lines.

'What is this? Is this what fell through the window and caused the fire? Which bastard threw this? Is it a bomb?!' I thought and at first, distanced myself from the object. Taking a look outside the window of my apartment, I saw a very empty street, there was no one, not even a bird in sight.

With a frown I picked the Anduril replica my friend had bought me on my birthday and poked the stone with the tip of the sword. Nothing happened, I touched the tip of the sword and it wasn't hot after making contact.

"It might be poisonous... In any case, It looks too shady, I must get rid of it fast..." I muttered as countless scenarios kept playing in my mind due to my overactive imagination. From possible alien invasion to government projects gone wrong and even magical possibilities.

I searched and quickly found a pair of gloves I owned and put them on then cautiously picked the cubic stone. Its surface was perfectly smooth and seemed to be a bizarre combination of metal and crystal. The crystal part glowed azure while the black part was metallic and also resembled stone... I was confused.

But before I could study it further, it moved on its own toward my head, easily flying out of my hand since I was not prepared; It collided with my forehead and everything went black.

I heard and woke up, covered in sweat. Quickly looking around and checking my body, I sighed in relief seeing I was still in my apartment.

I was startled by the voice as a screen popped in front of my face. "This can't be happening right?"

I didn't know what was going on, but I had a guess, and the thought of it being what I thought it was, was as exciting as frightening.

"Yes...?" I answered unsurely.

An interface appeared in front of me, a two-dimensional floating screen the size of a 12-inch iPad roughly 30 centimeters in front of my face, I could see it even when I closed my eyes.

There were 2 items on the screen, and I could easily navigate through everything with my mind and will. I just had to think and will it, and the system would obey.

[Contracts:

You can search and find available summoning contracts, or take a look at your completed contracts and history.

The contracts come from denizens of other worlds, depending on what is offered by them for your services, you will get a random template of an entity and acquire their powers, skills, abilities, and a similar body to transmigrate into. This is done to maintain the Host's real identity secret in the mysterious and horrifying omniverse, and also to help the host complete any contract. The greater the offer, the greater the power and skills of the random template and the greater the rewards.

Offerings are graded through numbers, with higher numbers meaning greater. The difficulty is also graded the same way. Choose wisely which contracts to accept, upon accepting, you must complete them or die and offer your soul to the creator of the system.

Upon completion of the contract, you will return to your body.

The offerings are split into two equal parts, one part is transformed into points in a point system with which the host can acquire almost anything. The other half goes to the creator of the system.]

I was getting more interested and excited as it went on, especially when I navigated to the contract screen and saw the countless offers. I quickly realized I had to balance the difficulty level, offering, and points rewarded in order to accept contracts. I got a little confused about what it meant with templates but since it would grant me powers and a body in some way to complete the mission, I understood it.

[Auction:

You can buy anything, from elixirs to weapons, items, powers, abilities, etc. Anything you can imagine can be bought in this auction. You need to bid on items with your points. Each point represents a certain amount of Karma. This auction is used by countless entities in the omniverse, I advise the host to accumulate enough points and use them wisely.]

As I looked through the trade list, I was shocked. The list was literally infinite...

I was taken aback, "Wait, I have more questions!"

It didn't listen and deleted itself...

Both my mind and heart were in chaos.

This all seemed impossible, even in a dream, but here it was in front of me real as real could get. 'How many would kill to get something like this?' I wondered. I constantly tried to rationalize things, and at the same time, I was feeling both cautious and extremely excited to try it to see if it would actually work. It sounded too crazy to be true after all.

I couldn't sit still, so I began pacing around my room while whispering to myself.

"The system was that stone, it collided with my head and bound itself to me like this, this is certainly what happened. It couldn't give the name of its creator, it is safe to assume its creator is a being beyond my comprehension, I shouldn't think about it then. It spoke of Omniverse, which means other universes exist and that means reality is infinite and humanity knows nothing about it, I need to learn and keep my mind open. The system itself is basic, just accept contracts wisely, get summoned to other worlds and universes, complete them, get points, and enjoy life."

At this point I willed the interface to appear again and looked at the items in the Auction, gulping loudly as I read some items, "Elixir of immortality? Superpowers? Magic Weapons? Gold, diamonds, and jewelry? Dimensional storage rings?"

There was indeed everything, with many bids on the items. Some cost in the hundreds and others in the millions, depending on their worth. I sorted them by highest to lowest and nearly fainted when I saw what was at the highest price.

I closed the auction feeling depressed while thinking 'If only I could have that Shard of Azathoth, I could explore the entire Omniverse as an omnipotent being and have so much fun and adventure... Wait a moment, doesn't this imply Lovecraftian horrors are real?!' I quickly decided not to think about it, even doing that was dangerous if they were real.

I resumed my pacing... "Those kinds of items are too far away for me, I have to see if I can get some item that help the current me, secure wealth and comfort here then focus all my attention on grinding points." The price of gold and such was atrociously low, every point equaled one ton of gold. That was enough to make me rich.

Feeling too excited to contain myself, I decided to take a look at some of the contracts and see if there was anything good.

I was shocked when I checked the details of the contracts...
