1 Chapter two

Twenty hours later, Rose was landing in a new country.

"Please put on your seat belts, we're landing in five minutes." The voice of the flight attendant came through the speakers and Rose said a thank you to the heavens. She had never been one to be happy with travelling for long hours. Back home when she had to go home often. Ten hours of being stuck in a vehicle never appealed to her. one hour into the journey and she would start begging them to let her out of the vehicle. Now after twenty hours of lying she was finally here and couldn't wait to be on solid ground again. Walking and breathing in fresh air. She had been lucky to have sat next to a quiet woman. Being talked to or talking while travelling also made her nauseous.

Exactly ten minutes later, they had landed and everyone started walking out.

"It was nice travelling with you." The woman said to Rose as she got up and walked away. Rose smiled and stood to take her suitcase and walked out as well. It wasn't very hard finding the exit.

"Okay, now what the hell am I supposed to do here?" she asked holding her suitcase. And then she saw it. The bus for the camp. She started walking towards it. But unfortunately, she wasn't as fast as she should have because the bus left a few second before she could get to it. she tried running after it but it just kept going and even faster than before. Out of breath she stopped and fell to her knees. What had she been thinking when she had agreed to this? She was now stuck in a foreign country where she knew no one and with absolutely no idea what to do. So, she did the only thing she could think of in that state, cry. People passing her by looked at her some with pity and others in amusement but none stopped to help. And then she had a thought, why not call Dawn and yell at her.

Standing, she took out her phone and dialed the number. Thankfully, Dawn was just as worried and picked up right away.

"Hey, Dawn, guess what? The bus just left me and I swear they flew past me without even looking back and I was so scared I did the most logical thing I could think of so now I'm seated on the side of a pedestrian walk thingie crying and people are just walking past me without even offering to help and I just want to scream because I have no idea what I'm going to do. And I know I sound like a damsel in distress but there's no knight in shining amour coming to save me because this is not a novel." She finished her rambling to take a breath.

"What now?" Dawn asked her worry degree rising from two to seven.

"What do you mean what now? I'm freaking lost in a freaking foreign country where I don't know anyone or their language." She rambled on.

"Are you done rambling?" Dawn asked finally catching up with the story.

"I think so." Rose said wiping a tear.

"Okay. Now listen to me, take a tissue from your bag. Okay?" Dawn asked and Rose did as she was instructed. In a time of crisis, she would have done anything to get out of the situation.

"Have you done it?" Dawn asked and Rose nodded and then reminded herself that they were not face timing.

"Yes, I have. What do I do with it?" She asked wondering what it could possibly be used for.

"Okay, now take it and wipe your tears and blow your nose. Your voice sounds funny." Dawn said causing her friend to smile. She did as instructed and in a matter of seconds, started feeling better already.

"I have done that. Now what do I do?" She asked smiling at the heavens for having given her such a supportive best friend. Even if they had only known each other a few months, Dawn was for sure the best thing that could have happened to her.

"Take a cab to the camp." Dawn said making Rose to face palm. How had she not thought of doing that?

"You are amazing Dawn. What would I do without you?" She asked smiling.

"You'd be a heartbroken mess crying on your bed, reading romantic novels and crying yourself to sleep." Dawn replied laughing into the phone. Rose laughed with her.

"Thank you Dawn. I'll call you once I get to the cabin." She said and stood up, dusted her clothes and hailed a cab.

"Alright. Take care and most importantly have fun."

"I will. I'm no longer lost after all." She said and it translated to her soul as well. This summer, she would find herself.

"Hey, taxi take me to Lakeshield summercamp." Rose said once she was settled in the yellow vehicle. As they moved from the town setting to the camp, she started feeling it. That holy feeling, she had read about in a book by a certain ruthmurimi84 on Webnovel. A funny book titled "His and hers" which she had read a thousand times and started aspiring to be just like the main character. Although she wasn't sure she was up for getting raped and waiting ten whole years to get the man of her dreams back.

The landscape gradually changed from the city vibe to a more sombre lazy mood that made her feel like she was home. There wasn't even a single animal making a sound in the suburban areas that they drove past. And the dogs and cats they saw were all just sleeping or just laying basking in the sun. there was something about this place. She fell asleep after becoming drowsy from all the lazy vibe she watched pass by them. Also, she had cried earlier so she was pretty exhausted not to add jetlagged. An hour later, the driver shook her awake.

"We're here miss." He said and she lifted her head groaning at the pain in her neck. She shouldn't have slept in that position.

"Oh, thank you." She said and moved getting out of the car. She got her suitcase and gave him the money she owed. She waited until he drove away before turning to look at the gate.

"Summer camp." She said. "Lakeshield summercamp. You and I are gonna have so much fun. Just promise you don't have ghosts and you and I will become best friends."

"Hello there." A woman said appearing from behind her. Startling, Rose screamed and fell backwards after tripping on her suitcase.

"I'm sorry about that. I was just thinking about ghosts and you startled me so." She said laughing nervously in relief.

"It's okay. Let me help you up." The woman said offering Rose her hand. She took it and stood up.

"You are a visitor here." The woman stated matter of factly.

"I am. It's probably obvious but yeah." Rose replied. "I am Rose by the way."

"Oh right. I am Katy." The woman said and started leading the way inside the gate and the camp. Rose followed admiring the beauty of the place. The trees, lake, boats, swing sets, obstacle race courses and many more things. This was going to be one beautiful and interesting summer.
