Chapter 9

He squeezed Ty’s hand as they found a tour bus along the square. They picked a seat on the upper deck, in the back row. Ty leaned in for a kiss, and they didn’t come up for air until the bus jerked away from the curb.

They had a good tour guide, who kept up a running patter as they drove around the city. Evan and Ty hopped off at some of the more tourist-y sites like Chinatown, then hopped onto the next bus in the tour circuit. The rest of the guides were just as talkative, some doing more of a historical approach and others a more comical one.

“I had a good time today,” said Ty as they stopped by Taddich Grill for a meal. “I’m really into historic sites, and San Francisco turns out to have a lot of them.”

“Like this place,” Evan remarked. “It’s California’s oldest restaurant. Started in a tent in 1849, back when all of this was marshland.”

“Must be some good food if this line’s any indication.”

“Yeah, it’s always this crowded. It’s worth the wait, though. You’ll see.”
