33 Reunited in Bed

“That doesn’t sound so bad…” he replied with a hint of satisfaction in his voice.

Now that the light was on, I could see his face and the way that his blue eyes took in my face before slowly drifting down to my chest. His gaze still felt cold and distant. I decided to talk to him directly before I lost my nerve.

“It’s good that you’re back. We need to talk,” I said before taking in a deep breath.

“Talk? About what?” he asked without showing any interest.

The bed shifted slightly under his weight as he moved closer to me. Although he seemed disinterested, the fact that he sat down told me that at least he was willing to listen. My heart leapt in my chest as I felt a twinge of hope that maybe he wasn’t such a heartless person after all.

“I heard from many people that work here that you’ve forbidden me to leave this mansion. I want to go outside, so please retract your order,” I requested straightforwardly while telling myself that I was doing the right thing.
